The Knight Ryder is wildly speculating about whether Howe is insisting on bringing in his own sporting director, this Hughes bloke I think his name was. Apparently that was the problem at Celtic. If he is insisting on that he can fuck off. The club are literally in the position of paying for the best in the world in terms of DOF, so if Howe does want Hughes in he's taking liberties. Who the technical director/director of football is, is not down to the manager. If anything it should be the other way around. Having said all that it would still count as an almighty fuck up from the club if they got this far only to be surprised by this. Maybe Howe did something similar at Celtic, as in led the club to believe everything was fine, and then sprung the DOF thing on them near the end of negotiations, thereby hoping to force their hands. A lot of wild speculation here, but even if the aforementioned was the case, the club should have contacted Celtic before any of this to find out exactly why their talks with Howe collapsed.

What kind of fussy cunts are his backroom staff if they've cost him two jobs in a row. It just doesn't make sense. Surely from Howe's perspective he'd realise that he'd be a laughing stock if this were to happen for a second time in a row. Apparently the exact same thing happened with his backroom staff when he was extremely close to being named the Celtic manager. Something really fucking weird is going on with him, his staff, or both if this is true. That should be kept in mind before the inevitable Staveley diatribes start.

Hopefully his time studying the likes of how Diego Simone sets up his Athletico side will have helped with that particular weakness in his coaching.

No game is a free hit given how far into the season it is, how few points we have, and where we are in the table. It's very unfortunate how long it's taken to get a manager sorted, if indeed Howe sings tomorrow as expected. The one good thing is that at least Villa lost again, and they seem to be in a bit of disarray at present. A win tomorrow and we can be three, four points from safety which is obviously a much healthier position than another loss and six, seven points from safety going into the international break. Of course I won't be holding my breath for a win tomorrow given how Jones has set us up in the previous two games, and the form of the respective teams.

It seems so obvious that Coutinho would be our Robinho, as in talented, but mercenary with a questionable attitude, who would ultimately be an expensive disaster. I would hope that whoever we get as director of football would be a bit more imaginative with who we'll be brining in, in January.

I like what I'm hearing about Howe being very demanding and tough behind the scenes, and that his calm demeanour in front of the cameras isn't actually what he's really like. You always got the feeling that Bruce was desperate for everyone to like him, as opposed to respect him, which he perhaps knew was a losing battle.

If he had a PJ and Duncan poster on his wall as well, then all my fears about him will evaporate.

And of course he hates cowards who turn their backs on shots. I would imagine the only way to gain eseembee's respect, would be to be shot in a firing line with no blindfold or cigarette.

The line-up for tomorrow is going to be interesting. The assumption will be that if Krafth, Clark, Fraser etc are out of the team, that Howe will have had an influence/word in Jones' ear, even if he's only in the stands. Of course maybe even Jones would have made changes given how woeful we were against Chelsea.

I've heard this rational multiple times now. Why would they bother if new players are going to be brought in. For one a lot these players aren't that bright and have big egos. Some of them likely think they can be the Vincent Kompany of this takeover and stick around long term. And apart from the aforementioned if you do actually think you could be leaving a club soon, it would be best if you weren't playing shite and looking totally disinterested if you want a half decent move to another club. The players also shouldn't be under the illusion that the new owners will be like, fuck it, it's too expensive to get rid of them and replace them. As was the case under Ashley.

One thing I'll say about Howe is that one of my biggest concerns i.e. him wasting a load of money on average to shite players like Ibe and Solanke who he spunked 35m on, should be averted given that whoever this sporting director is will be taking a big role in recruitment. My other concern is that he doesn't appear to be great at setting up a defence. Given our current position a bit of solidity at the back wouldn't go a miss obviously.
