  1. http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2012/0406/1224314437676.html Last of the Dubliners original line up has passed on. Incredible musicians and cultural icons. Saw them only last month in Manchester. He could barely walk but he was still enjoying himself. End of an era.
  2. It's asking for a cock to be photoshopped into Danny Simpson's hand...
  3. Absolutely. In fact any situation where you're progressing season on season represents a massive achievement which is far from easy. Only Man U manage it regularly really and they have to do it just to stand still (as it were). Taking absolutely nowt for granted here.
  4. I would think he wishes he had, widely reported he knows he made mistakesand put trust in the wrong people, now it's his way or the highway and it would appear to be working. I just dont think it was necessary at the time tbh. As long as the credit lines for football remained in place he could have dicked about for a couple of years playing fantasy football and then shipped it on for a couple hundred extra million. He wouldn't have even had to address the debt etc etc. That's the only way the Halls and Shepherd were able to make £100 million out a club that was a consistent and compound debt and it's what he would have done too for me. Only the arse fell out of finance and then suddenly you dont have a buyer any more because 90% of potential football buyers are just chancers or leveraged cowboys, just like all of footballs 'profits' are complete fluff/untenable without outside finance allowing them to be run as casinos.
  5. Absolutely agree with that fwiw, and I was going to reference it but felt it deviated too much from the main point I was trying to make. The commercial revenues are genuinely sub-standard 'for a club of our size and stature' (a context where I'm actually happy to use that particular turn of phrase) and need addressing in the next wave. Theres real scope to increase income there, but again for mainly historical reasons, I dont expect it to shoot us into the same strata as Liverpool, hence the focus will still need to be on the development methods that are working well for us at the moment. In fact unless and until your levels of income are the same as the other 3 species of club mentioned, if you only try and compete with them on a short term spend basis, without trying to turn other factors to your advantage which the rich clubs dont exploit or under exploit, you're basically not working hard enough in the running of your football club in 2012.
  6. i thought register was used to indicate the choice of vocabulary & pitch to indicate the tone No, Gene.
  7. Well it's an improvement on utter hysteria so I suppose we should be grateful.
  8. I have to say, I reckon the accents got an awful lot to do with it at the end of the day on a subconscious level. Jamie Carragher for instance, part of a Liverpool crime family and one of Liverpool hardest men and he sounds like a five year old girl. Gerrard too. That's pretty standard for Scouse males generally and in my submission it's a perfectly natural reaction for anyone from outside of the area with a normal male register (ie several octaves lower) to get both annoyed by it and to be distrustful of it in equal measure. As Stevie might put it, to look down your nose at them as a result.
  9. Liverpool's kit & sponsorship deal alone....in a nutshell why it doesn't matter that we've got a stadium that's a few thousand bigger than the average Prem ground. All LM's guff about realising the potential size of the club etc etc. Yes we'll increase turnover to some extent with an increased (European) profile, but in this day and age it doesn't get you to anywhere near the turnover of an intrinsically bigger club (Man U), a bankrolled club (Chelsea/City) or a global gloryhunter club (Man U/Liverpool/Arsenal). Theres many a valid argument to be had on issues surrounding the extent, degree and timing of our recruitment and retention activity, but anyone rejecting the basic principle of it has nothing to offer a sensible debate. We aren't the natural (ie UK domestic) size of Man U ergo we don't have their money We aren't bankrolled like Chelsea or City ergo we don't have their money We aren't one of the three recurrent league title winners of the modern English game (European era) ie Man U/Liverpool/Arsenal, ergo we dont have their global glory hunter money ...and finally we can't borrow the money anymore (from financial institutions at least) ergo we can't bridge the gap on the never never. Which is more, never had already arrived. When that happens, all that is left is to try another way altogether. Anyone still saying otherwise has their head in the sand and an ice lolly stick up their arse.
  10. Took you off ignore for a second Leazes to see if you'd confirm Gene's query about your daughters health. Glad to hear it wasn hert. And I'm ashamed of nowt fwiw as I've never been guilty of a slur. All I've ever done is laugh at you make a dick of yourself by threatening that she'll batter everyone, just because you were getting yourself a bit overheated on the internet.
  11. Have you not finished embarrassing yourself yet you bizarre little outcast of a man? He comes out with more personal slurs than everyone else on the board put together, and he threatens physical harm by-proxy via his daughter. Not that I feel intimidated or denigrated on a personal level, but that's quite irrelevant to the horrendously ill judged 'point' you're making. wasn't his daughter very ill a few years ago? apologies if i've got the wrong person..... I've no idea and I've no idea what it's got to do with the price of fish, either. I hope she wasn't for what it's worth.
  12. Aye, I think that one was definitively put to bed in the end. Not that it's ever really had any relevance to anything at all.

  14. stop it you i'm not going to be camping too far off your neck of the woods! no snow next week, or cold Well its cold here today, looks like it could snow! Anyway, you don't want to go to Cornwall, the Cornish are strange folk Come to Devon instead! Dorset's where it's at! Cornwall is like another country, never mind county.
  15. The whole phone thing seems to be a massive issue like. Are you working a sex line Gene?

Got 3 of them in the boot. A most unsavoury habit. His dad's a judge so he's basically bomb proof. Old bill don't bat an eyelid.
  17. Well clearly you're not a dull knob, you're the funniest bloke on here by a considerable margin, but what I like about him, is he's obsessed with the assertion that I need psychiatric help when David Blunkett could see he should be looking a lot closer to home. Too kind I’m sure. This place is a laugh though and for me I don’t get why anyone would post here if they weren’t having a laugh. You’d just pie it off at the end of the day and walk away. Like you say, I reckon there are probably one or two undiagnosed cases on here and a pound to a penny it’s the ones who get wound up by absolutely nothing things. I don’t even count Leazes in that btw (just so he doesn’t think I’m having a dig), because Leazes gets wound up by the football, which is fair enough. The guy cares about it. This Gene Clark oddball on the other hand, he blatantly can’t have a laugh at himself and it’s those ones you have to keep an eye on.
  18. Some gold in there, might be a shite thing to do posting a PM, but I didn't want a PM off him. A fucking Marxist! It's not Leipzig 1968 mate. Why does this board attract so many mentally ill people? I'm not mocking, it's a serious question, actual mental illness. If I meet him after Bolton he'll probably stab me with a crucifix or something. I would meet you but the people I'm going with well two of them, read your tweets and completely hate your points of view on life and things in general. You're not an unknown quantity. No more PM's Ian. Take on board the last thing I PM'd you back as well, if you weren't such an arrogant cunt then perhaps you'd be willing to accept the help that is available more readily. A "dull knob". Class. The bit I love is where at point 2. he basically says: "Why are you interested? I'm not bothered what you do." Having stuck down this marker to claim the high ground, he then immediately proceeds to write a further 11 points telling you precisely what he does/has done-oblivious to the contradiction, adrift on a sea of deluded, self-absorbtion. The thing is, really small things on the internet get to people like this. A psychologically fragile moron at the end of the day.
