  1. Yeah. Sorry if it was too relevant.
  2. Leazes you're off your nut. ASM's said we wont finish in a Champs League spot this season (as this is the only relevant comparitor you'll permit), so you "win" that spurious argument, but more importantly Shepherd wouldn't get us into the Champs League anymore anyway because he cant borrow the money anymore. It seems quite possible (given the stats in the other thread) that he might have got us bankrupted however.
  3. No ambitions though. Cost cutting is ludicrous. Idiot with ambition and certain bankruptcy FTW u-turn of the decade Comprehension issues. u-turn of the decade I haven't u-turned. The fact that you can't 'comprehend' this is super ironic Have you managed to comprehend the meaning of irony yet? Wasting your breath tbh. Opinions aside, he literally just doesn't understand a lot of what's written. I understood when we had a good board who showed ambition for the club. Did you ? I also understand that if some awful mancs laugh at my embarrassment at only finishing 5th in the premiership and not playing in the Champions League, the simple course of action is to either take the piss back or clearly tell them they are fucking wankers and ignore them. Or better still, not be so stupid and sensitive and realise that this sort of thing is normal behaviour for football supporters and not go crying about it. You must be devastated that "anybody but Fred" hasn't brought an end to your embarrassment, poor dear you. Are you skidders Guardian Angel too by the way ? Love the way you never stop banging on about that btw. If anyone's a delicate flower it's you-crybaby is not the word. No lad, I never came on any internet forum anywhere complaining about other football supporters hurting my little feelings .... You're on the verge of tears in every other thread tbh.
  4. It is a great start, but still disappointing because of how we had them when 5 wickets were down and we could have really skittled them out, but far play they fought back and England have ended the day well on top. Managed to stay up till about 7:30 but couldn't make it till the end! Even when we've got their top order completely on their knees they still manage to find a couple of partnerships to prevent an outright collapse and make a game of it and that deserves respect tbh. As Alex has said you can never write them off and that's just one reason why. I just hope our attitude remains confident (as we are the superior team) but never gets complacent, because that's the only way they'll do us.

  7. Wonder if they'll both go straight back in. No clean sheet since they were banned.....but only one each conceded to Chelsea and liverpool isn't bad compared to 5 at Bolton. Four points from those games makes up for the WBA horror show. Indeed. We need to get something this weekend as the matches Man City and Spurs within 3 days is going to be a tall order. Knowing us though we'll lose on Saturday and draw those two. QFT. Got to go there believing we can take points out of this one and theres no reason why we shouldn't unless we decide to create reasons of our own. Lets get the away record back up and running again
  8. Well he didn't have one against Oxford am pretty sure. Am certain when he first came he didn't have one. Memory a bit shite these days though. This was at that Derby game that we go on about (my fav toon away game), he definitely had one then and that was April/May 92. You're right like he didnt have it when he first signed but I always seem to remember him giving it a debut during Ossie's time - but I could very well be wrong. Just had a squizz on wiki (not re: his beard ) and apparently he's in Canada these days training as a Christian minister.
  9. Nah pretty sure his beard was pre-Keegan like Stevie. Unless my memory's not what it was??
  10. Definitely Peacock like. Had the Peter Sutcliffe look absolutely nailed when he went all born again.
  11. Best bearded toon player of the 90's.
  12. An accountant in a poncho. Ladies-form an orderly queue.
  13. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only iyam.

    Belated best birthday wishes, Noelie!
  15. CT's opinion is we can push for 4th though. There's a fine line to be walked keeping opposing fans from cringing to be sure. Sometimes your anger is so obvious for whats gon before that it spoils your enjoyment of here and now. My point was that had we being slightly more luckier and not lost Ben Arfa or Barton there is a good chance we would have fun a few more games. We are only 9 points off 4th ffs. A majority of this board is so infuritaed with Ashley taht they cant see the wood for the trees. When all were predicting a drop straight into division two we romped the championship. When all were predicting a season of dread in the prem, we are doping quite well and could easily be doing a lot better wit a little luck. Ashley has made some big errors but thank fuck he arrived when he did and Im sure we have more chance of staying up and becoming succesful under him than we do with some short term arab or indian chicken farmer.
  16. you are very sad if you consider posting on a message board to be an exercise in perfect English, and also blind if you do not notice the vast majority of other posters do exactly the same thing now and again. Or maybe you are just obsessed with me, or trying to prove me wrong about what I have always said about the old board and what they did during their 15 years of ownership. You poor thing, and the mock "embarrassment" you spent so long whining about. If you want to try and do that , go ahead and show me league positions and historical facts that prove it. I didn't say you had spelling issues, I said you had comprehension issues. And you do.
  17. You have very basic reading/writing comprehension issues, Leazes.
  18. not sticking my head up my arse at all. And while I don't particularly care for the thought that other fans see us dismissing being 8th in the table, there is a long way to go yet, this season. I just don't think Mike Ashley will ever harbour any serious ambitions at this football club, a few results [defeats or wins] is neither here nor there. On the other hand, I didn't care when other fans supposedly "laughed" at us, so why give a toss if they think we are "arrogant" ? [ presume that is what you are getting at here CG ] I don't think I'm either anyway, I'm just aware we are one of the biggest clubs in the country, and I'll counter that by also admitting that we have never had the success to justify that to other supporters - hence the reason they aren't aware of how big this club should be. I don't think anyone actually thinks Ashley has any "serious ambitions" for the football club in the sense you mean by that, ie by spending dozens of millions of his own money (non NUFC income) each window, so you don't really need to keep banging that drum tbh. It's probably universally acknowledged. I'm making a comment just like you, and it isn't directed at you either. So fuck off. Just pointing out that you're wasting your breath, angry anderson. Speaking to you ? Aye, I realised that ages ago. Nice to see your "mature" response btw.... I don't actually think too many people DO realise Mike Ashley won't speculate and show ambition, but that's for another day. I expect to be proved correct though, again, but what the hell eh ? I'm sure you know best.

  21. Aye, I'm still in the glass half full faction as far as results, player performances and expectations for the season go. Thoroughly fucked off by the way that any reason for pessimism is entirely self inflicted and so utterly needless (Hughton departure), but another decent window and, provided your focus is solely on the pitch, you would have to say there has been continued improvement. I do still wish it had been Hughton spending what modest amount might be available this January though and the close team ethic we had going hadn't been sacrificed (or at least risked, time will tell) on the altar of casino debtors repayment plans.
