There was the "Liverpool/Justice for the 96" Mackem banners linked to on here ahead of their trip to Anfield this season. Don't think the game in any way coincided with Hillsborough commemorations or anything like that.

Wouldn't want it to be O'Neil like. Although if it is you'd like to think he's due one that he just completely fucks up/fails to get to grips with. See O'Neill though, he did well at Leicester, at Celtic his budget blew Rangers away yet still McPish won two SPL's during his reign including one treble, granted he did well, and well Villa he couldn't really take them that much further forward. I'd have no sleepless nights put it that way. Aye true enough. Plus you have to wonder budget wise what's available now Bruce has laid it on thick in the transfer market with limited return-might mean the next man comes in and receives a different brief altogether.

I have. What am I missing? A chromosome. That could be said about most of your fans aswell! I'm quite realistic about my team to be fair. I'm no deluded. I didn't think we'd win the derby and I don't go into games thinking we'll win by a landslide victory either. Thing is, you can't blame our fans for wanting more. We've had our yo-yo seasons and have firmly set ourselves in the premiership now. That's all mackems want. To think we are only bothered about finishing above you is frankly stupid. The majority of us couldn't care less. It's our own clubs progression we are bothered about. And football wasnt invented in 1992 you know. Which unfortunately alot of Newcastle fans seem to think. I applaud Pardew and your club for what you've done! But we are also allowed to want more and hope for better things! I hear mags spouting that they are gonna win the league this season! If that's not delusion, I don't know what is! "Formed in 1992"" Check. "Spouting they are gonna win the league", Check. I'm just waiting for "Smaller club with less history than <insert whichever club they're arselicking, here>" and I'll have a full house. (Which is more than them fuckers will have in a hurry).

Hope he gets it. Brewce Arena is what they should rename the ground tbh. Or what we should call it if he does.

Fop was mentally ill. His sig was absolutely full of references to posters at the end, a sure sign the board had consumed him fully. Even then nobody could have expected the news headlines that followed.

As much as Ashley and Llambias need to get out of this city, I'd rather have Cabaye, Marveaux, Santon and Ba, than Carroll, Nolan, Barton and Enrique for differing reasons like. Those four that left brought in £46m and the four that came in cost £9m, and they're better players in my eyes. I don't think it's about the money spent or brought in but more to do with the ability of the players concerned. Spot on tbh, although Santon over Enrique? I'd rather have both like Tell you what else like, stating the obvious to a degree but if Ashley leaving remains the priority in most peoples eyes, it's probably in our interests that the overall strategy remains in place as long as the banks aren't lending to prospective football club buyers anymore. ie if the only people that could potentially buy the club are people that have their own liquid cash to spend, who would look more attractive currently? Us perhaps starting to break even and looking competitive for it or clubs doing no better/worse than us running at big losses? The coaching/scouting infrastructure is probably the clubs best suit at the moment and an asset that would remain on transfer. Ok, it's probably not something that would matter that much to an arab one way or another, but in the absence of a rockerfeller type buyer, they could well be factors that matter to anyone considering parting with £200 million+ of their own hard earned. I'm not suggesting there shouldn't be more made available for players in certain instances as I think strategic/targeted resourcing is necessary (and theres no need for some decisions which you sense are still just totally bloody minded), but just in reference to the overall strategy, since it's implementation it's seen us push on so far in terms of football.

Handy for approving all his other accounts aye. To this day surely still the biggest pseud account arsehole theres ever been on here. Even Fop didn't get that bad as far as I know.

I'd forgotten Blaydon was a mod, like. edit: not evident on that page, but shows on one of the other 'captures'. Must have been the time he was working in Newcastle.

If they're having an opera singer, I wouldn't mind the idea of her singing a hymn on her own. It'd be just as moving (giving the sombre nature) as a lone voice without the fans feeling ushered into anything. However it ends up being marked though, you can understand people wanting to do something and not everybody will feel 100% the same. As long as it's respectful though that's all that really counts.

Newcastle v Chelsea Sat 3rd Dec, 12.45pm - Sold out!

Trite of me to say it I know, but the absolute best tribute would be the team going out and busting a gut for the win for 90 minutes, in keeping with the way Gary played for over 20 years. Dedicate the performance to him at the end. That's what I'm hoping for most. -

He was manager of Wales. Bread of Heaven is basically the unofficial Welsh anthem. The fans on Saturday couldn't sing the official national anthem Land of my Fathers (as it's in Welsh). Seems like a nice attempt from the club tbh. -
Leazes, you're such a thoroughly unpleasant person on so many levels it's untrue. There's no call for anything like that on a football board and I genuinely feel sorry for you. Never ever done this before to anyone in all the years I've used this place but I'm putting you on ignore.

I would absolutely love that to be true and he should be offered every bonus under the sun if it did prove to be the case. A 'captains loyalty bonus' lump sum after year x wouldn't be a bad idea, as concocted sham wage deals go. Isn't that sort of what was offered to Nolan? Less money but an end of season bonus dependent on where we finished. Not sure exactly but I wouldn't make it dependent on league finish in Colo's case, I mean something you could tell him as an absolute contractual certainty. Entirely concocted but it's a way around it that lets him sign for less without being massively worse off ultimately. I'm all for win (performance) bonuses generally, across the team but it's something else I'd be thinking of in the case of Colo specifically. I hope theyre doing mental gymnastics trying to think of ways to make it financially non-derisory for him while not contradicting policies they've set out to other players during their own recent negotiations. Anything like that could not be a contractual entitlement though, there'd have to be some form of qualification such as a certain number of appearances to be made. If his form goes down the shitter then the last thing we want is a player determined to hang on until the end of his contract purely to collect his loyalty bonus. It's not perfect but then I don't imagine a perfect solution exists. What you say is right but then it might be a couple of million down the drain. The alternative (match his pay and then ultimately have to bring everyone else up to Colo's level of wages over time (or at least half the first team), as would probably be inevitable) might cost an extra £12 million a season, so that won't happen. My point is simply that every option should be explored in his case as the 'risk' associated is worth it. Theres ways and means to make it a contractual certainty, that of itself isn't an issue at all.

They did have uniforms though. Wheres that quote from?

January'll be 'interesting' like. We've never been in this sort of position before under Ashley, in terms of league position and, arguably, playing personnel and coaching staff, scouting network etc. Even if it's just hanging onto what we have and tying down Coloccini on a new deal it'll be a big step in the right direction. If we can bring in a couple of first teamers then even more so. I'd go along with manc-mag's practical views on the Tiote situation too. I.e. his leaving could be acceptable under the right circumstances. Colo is massive for so many reasons. It's entirely separate to the 'sell for a profit' debate, he could actually go simply because we don't offer to renew his wages. That wouldn't be evidence of us as being a 'selling club' (although it would be portrayed that way) it would simply confirm what is largely suspected about there being a wage cap (I would reckon at circa £50k). That then absolutely establishes the tone for how long we keep any player for-the answer simply being until anyone else is prepared to offer them more than (ie £50k pw). That in turn gives a good indication of the teams that are actually capable of coming in and offering for a player. Colo would be an absolutely huge loss from a footballing point of view and the biggest argument I can think of for operating a discretion to depart from the wage cap in certain instances (in his case possibly attempting to justify it on the basis it's not an improved deal, it's just giving him parity and to offer less would be a disincentive and perverse given performance). How well that would go down in reality though with the rest of the team is another matter altogether. I suspect not well at all for fairly obvious reasons. He might stay for less money imo. Not saying you could offer him half what he's on and he'd turn around and accept it but if he's enjoying life here and (most importantly) the team is being strengthened with additions then I could see him signing a new deal more or less in line with the wage cap you mention. I would absolutely love that to be true and he should be offered every bonus under the sun if it did prove to be the case. A 'captains loyalty bonus' lump sum after year x wouldn't be a bad idea, as concocted sham wage deals go.

I think there's an argument to be made that their enthusiasm for a top flight job, having thought they were finished, can be worth twice what someone like Mark Hughes would bring. As much as Ashley deserves pillorying for appointing Kinnear, he deserves credit for Pardew...but both were total risks, based on cost rather than ability. Again, no. If I go and buy a lottery ticket and win the jackpot, does that make me the world's most astute investor or does it make me incredibly lucky? Depends. System for picking your numbers or lucky dip?

We were expected to go down last season, we're currently fourth. We won't finish fourth and Ashley is a twat but let me support my fucking team tbh-people just want to show their appreciation for a group of lads that care about the shirt.
-
34-2 thus far. 1 of whom doesn't even post on this board anymore, the other being unaccounted for. And yet how much time do you spend on here banging on about people bumming Ashley? Cheers, you're doing the board a massive service. Wake the fuck up, man! Good thread btw HF!

'No'

Aye, would like to think that was deliberate by the beeb. Nice one.

Leazes, what's even more basic is the fact I've already said what I think the chances of him going or not are in this very thread. I don't think you're in your right mind when you post on here and i'm not getting into it. You're an embarrassment and it's tedious as fuck.

No whoosh it was just that he asked the question in complete earnest the other day. Think it must have been one of those moments where you think about something totally straightforward and it just doesn't register at all. Anyway ignore me, I was just being a twat.
