Unbelievable the price paid compared to that rat-faced little bastard, Suarez. They're absolute worlds apart in terms of quality. Carroll's not bad fwiw but as everyone in football knew since day 1, £35 million was an utterly absurd bid. Still, all Chequebook Dalglish deserves at the end of the day, he can go fuck himself.

It's ok mate, I'll just put myself on the 'list'.

I'm not doing existentialism with you Deaders if you're failing to get your head round the fact we're in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. When do you think we usually enter the competition?
-
You're not like. That's my point.

Deadman that's nowt to do with epilepsy. What the fuck are you on?

He's a racist basically. Fair enough his footballing stuff (old board/new board) is tedious and badly argued but his views on various ethnic groups are twatful. And before he responds by saying 'is it alright to heckle our troops instead'?, it's an irrelevant response to the point about him being racist. We can all agree that people who heckle troops are in the wrong but that doesn't (as he seems to see it) exonerate his generalist views about blacks etc. He's still a racist.

Apologies, for some reason I was responding to your post at the bottom of page 1 there. Drinking at work again.

A lot of sense in what you say there Stevie, but at the same time a £3 million fee for us (in Obertan's case) isn't peanuts, it's a healthy whack given what we're shelling out these days.

Imagine, man. A hat-wearing Shola bringing it out from the back like a libero of old. ....with time as he jogs forward to snack on an apple. The career long overhyped Wes Brown was star gazing the other day against Wolves for their goal when that cross came in but can you imagine Shola ball watching in the back four ffs? And that's from a man who-as Alex says-even when he does jump, you'd struggle to get a football pink under his studs.

Obertan: Earths' gravity is no match for him.

Really? Never heard that from them myself. I don't think they were heartbroken he left, I've heard Manure fans say he wasn't fit for the Championship after an FA cup game when he got shut out by a League 1 fullback. Have to say the only thing I've heard from the rags is that they feel well shut of him. -

Troop hecklers are participating in a form of protest against the political objectives of the UK government, which whether you agree with the the objectives of the government or not, is costing lives abroad as a simple matter of fact. UK troops are prosecuting that objective and anyone joining the UK armed forces does so knowing that i) they are going to end up doing what the UK government tells them to do and ii) they live in a country where freedom to protest is a long standing, legitimate way of participating in the democractic process outside of election periods. They therefore may experience protest against their actions on UK soil as all people might not agree with their deployment. It's a fact of their military life. I don't personally happen to agree with the the troop hecklers and believe people are equally entitled to express their disapproval/protest at their message, but I disagree even more strongly that it has any relevance to this debate at all. By contrast, black people on a train are not, by virtue of being black people on a train, wilfully participating in a form of politically sensitive and potentially offensive protest. They're just being black people on a train. Failure to appreciate that makes you a racist, whatever your feelings about troop hecklers are. -
Steven Taylor is out for the season

Can only hope so. I do think he can raise a CB partners game btw as it only needs one 'reader' at the back, with a big lad being able to play a physical game off that. See Bramble when playing alongisde Woody. Saylor has definitely benefitted exponentially for me. Unfortunately neither Perch or Williamson are rivalling Gemmill for the Tyneside gym bunny of the year award. Williamson is actually a fairy of a man, Perch might have half a chance I spose. Fingers, toes, bollocks and eyes crossed. -

Black train commuters reading this might well ask the question why they're being compared to the IRA/troop hecklers. In sheer bemusement of course. -

Agreed. Perch would need to have a superb run of performances to deflect from this one. If he does well then fair enough, that's what a squad CB is for and Pardew's squad depth rhetoric has some credibility, but clearly nobody's expecting that, in which case he needs to stop banging that drum. Losing both CB's at once would test any team and I think we're going to hear that trotted out. It's true of course, but the point with us is that losing either one of the two potentially exposes us badly, so the fact we've lost both is just worse in our case, not a ready made excuse for having no answer to the problem. -

We needed one in the summer the fucking idiots, they even admitted we did by bidding for Ridgewell, the reality is we need to sell Williamson and Perch and get two more in. Don't spose we're going to go broadcasting the fact we need one as the asking price will no doubt increase that way. Not that you can pretend to other clubs that we don't need one of course as it's plain as day, but the owner will happily take the view we're not having one and they can go fuck themselves asking for inflated fees, so I guess the club/Chron have to go with this line really. -

I love the way he even thinks the question is relevant. The IRA/troop hecklers being a group of people pushing an incendiary political message which they have some sort of conscious decision in promoting, black people being....well just black basically. Offensive to racist slags on South eastern public transport clearly but not something they can do an awful lot about at the same time. "Oh alright, you're quite right, love. I've seen the error of my ways and I'll stop being black from now on." -
Aye, ffs. This. We've played Man C, Man U and Chelsea in the last three games and he's contributed in two of the three. And he's not fit.

Fucking gutted. Massive news. Trying to stay focussed on the fact that, albeit he's been performing brilliantly, he's not actually a brilliant defender and is basically experiencing the Colo effect. Provided we've a fit Colo I've got faith the person alongside him can do OK. I actually think Saylor is a bigger loss in terms of the fighting spirit he contributes. Really hoping that doesn't diminish in his absence. -

Thought Chez handled it very professionally once again. Particularly the 'fat' jibes which I happen to know he's really quite sensitive about. -
He wrote upon it: 'Return to Henda' Only too happy to be able to use that one again.

Beaten by a better team but we were somehow still in it as a contest even at 89 minutes. Credit to the lads on the field for that, really never do know when they're beaten. Tiote/Guti and(after 30 minutes) Colo missing we were always going to be weak for this. Completely shows the thinness of the squad but then we know that anyway in spite of the official soundbites to the contrary so we're not learning anything new. Echo what KSA said about tactics in the first half to a degree, but was overall more inclined to think positively of the fact the tactical change was made at half time and we competed well for it in the second. Injuries are the obvious concern, I'm none too arsed about R Taylor getting exposed by the top teams (for instance) as we already know he's not the long term solution. Thought everyone grafted bar Overtan who continues to not want the ball in 95% of situations and needs to make way now imho and fight for a career from the bench. -
No hanging please, we're British. Absolutely horrific story. In actual fact pretty much impossible to even comprehend. Thankfully.
