!!!? Given - 6.7 Harper - 6.6 Are you thinking that Harper has been significantly poorer to Given !!? Although I have said that Sky's ratings are not necessarily fair, I would not think that Harper has done any poorer than Given this season (apart from his slipping) When they had both played the same amount of games I said, its obviously gone up hasn't it! The point was Given is a better keeper than Harper although Sky ratings said different at the time!

Is ego more important or results? Why is it not demeaning to buy senior players from other teams, but humiliating to buy youngsters from other teams? Plenty of Arsenal players are bought from other clubs. Liverpool have no qualms in getting Pennant (and they paid a staggering 8 millions when they could get him next to nothing a year before). The few Spurs rejects played a big part in securing Portsmouth in Premiership last year, and top 6 this year. I see no reason why we shouldn't go for any player that we think could improve our suqad (better than current player or good promise) at REASONALBLE price. I couldn't careless about which clubs they are from. I wish we have a productive academy but if it is not working then we need to find new solutions. Well out of our starting 11 only Taylor is from our own academy. So we have been doing this practise for years (ignoring our own academy players and buying players from other teams). In my humble opinion the club could do better by heeding my advice - paying little money for young promising players from rejected by other clubs (McShane, Spector etc) Well yeah first choice 11 he probably is but we have a few squad players who are and will be getting games from the Academy.

Tbph, I would rather sign a fit player that played a blinder last wednesday, than a unfit player who peaked 5 years ago and hasn't show anything the last 2 years. On top of that, he's injury prone. What about Jon Dahl Tomasson? He has always stated that he would love to come back to SJP. Would be a decent signing imo. Said player has shown a lot more than Aliadiere in the last 2 years tbqph! One good game is better than a shed load of goals these days?

As said before, would rather give one of our youngsters a go. When played Aliadiere hasnt looked anything better than average (apart from that one game) we would get more benefit out of playing our own youth players imo.

He has played around 25 league games for Arsenal since the 01-02 season, he played 7 for West Ham and apparently none for Celtic. Doesn't seem like many want to give him a chance, im sure Arsenals first choice 2 havent played every single game since 2001. Conveniently forgetting Reyes, Bergkamp, Adebayor. I wont claim Shola is anything better than a 4th choice striker but he was often played with someone who didn't suit him (Shearer) and when he has played as the main target he has normally looked a better player for it.

We need a defender AND a goalscorer. If Martins gets injured we are relying on Dyer and Sibierski, and although they have scored goals and I have a lot more faith in Dyers end product than I ever have before I would still much rather we had someone who was proven to score goals. Now Ronaldo may not make it here but everyone is a gamble and for me Ronaldo is a lower risk one even if he has lost motivation he showed last season he is still capable of scoring a good amount of goals to games. (yes for Real Madrid).

Whilst playing for REAL MADRID. The premiership is more physically demanding and most foreign players take a year or two to adapt. We'll be buying a player who isn't getting any younger, was awful and disinterested in the World Cup and is on silly wages. He'll be another Kluivert, only more expensive. He has scored goals at a huge rate whilst playing for EVERY CLUB HE HAS EVER PLAYED FOR, tbh. If we can get Sibierski scoring then I have little doubt we would get Ronaldo doing the same. Certainly a better option than getting some youngster in on loan who has never really played at the top level.

If you look up goalscorer in the dictionairy it has a picture of the chubby brazilian! He scored 14 in 23 last season and I think it would be well worth the gamble. We would make some of the money back from merchandise due to his stature anyway!
