I'm just aware of how easily people can feign offence, I know for damned sure that my Dad got into trouble for saying the un-pc phrase when there was a transition between "coloured" and "black". a bloke pretended he was offended to get back at my dad for passing him up for promotion. In the hearing my dad effectively said that it wasn't because the guy was black that he didn't get the job, it's because he was a twat. so, yes you're right that these days it's a fucking minefield, but that doesn't mean you should just capitulate. If no offence was meant and the phrase itself isn't inherently racist then I don't see that the bloke has a leg to stand on tbh. if Jonny had said "fook me look how black that nigger is" then yes, he's in for a whole shitstorm of trouble, but it's (imo) no different than when people comment on how orange Dale Winton is. It's only offensive if the person attaches worth tocolour, and in that case the racism is theirs, not Jonny's. but Jonny will have to apologise simply because it's easier. So if you walked in the room and I said loudly "how ugly is that fucker?" to which all me mates laughed wouldnt you be offended? As the bloke he was talking about was on TV i would guess I wouldn't.

I think I know 2J quite well and i'm certain there wasnt any intention in the comment but if I was at work and someone had said that I would have cringed and thought "silly fucker"
