Newcastle United v Man City Saturday 15th
aimaad22 replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in Newcastle Forum
Decent performance to be honest. Having said that attack has no coherence though, midfield cant keep the ball. Anita/Perch/Tiote too similar, cant do anything other than make small passes. Defence making school boy errors as usual. Williamson has had a decent game for once, Santon's had a shocking first half imo. All over the place. Jonas just cant seem to sort out his feet. And once again we've shown no signs of hitting back after going a goal down. Tell you what if we dont strengthen in January its going to get very nervous for us this season. -

No Ben Arfa. Thats our only chance gone then. 1-4 probably -
Performances have improved to be fair and I think with some relatively lets say easier games we would have started to get some results. Problem is the fixture list isnt doing us any favors at the moment and by the time January comes we may be 17-8th and a few alarm bells will have gone off by then. I do think despite all our limitations we are much better than a lot of teams in this division so eventually we should be ok. However, thats exactly what most of us thought in the relegation season so I wont be blaming anyone for panicking if we do touch the bottom 3.

Mental that

Aye. Looks quality all around. Good in the air, good on the ground. Very composed as well.
-
Bloody hell. They might go ahead with the top 7 qualifying for the CL idea too. Platini...
-
Aye for once the young lads will have a game together with little pressure on them, chance to play a bit more freely and show us what they've got. Would have preferred to see Campbell over Ranger though. Hope Tav has a good game too, think that boy has got real potential.
-
Wouldnt mind Tavernier at CB, think he's got the attributes to do a job there although he's looked promising at RB too. Abeid doesnt strike me as the type of player or character who could succeed playing out of position.
-
Ok, so on the basis of one game, we are going to drop the league's most prolific scorer from the second half of least season for someone who's had one good game in about a year and a half. FANTASTIC Hey, I hope Marveaux does eventually give us a selection headache, but even from yesterday's good performance I saw signs there that he isnt quite ready to tough it out with the division's big boys yet.
-
When he wants to mostly. How many times has he used his strength to keep even 2-3 players off the ball and retain possession for us? Just cant see Shane doing anything like that.
-
Shane could someday prove to be an useful outlet when pushing out of defence much as Santon is. But the new Jonas? Shane would need to consume a fast food chain to become the new Jonas!

Phew

7-8 first team players who've been playing together since they were 7. We're not going to see the likes of it again during our lifetimes I reckon. I dont know how anyone who claims to be a football fans cannot enjoy watching that team. They should be kept out of football discussions anyway, no parallels whatsoever in modern day football.

Shane Ferguson tearing apart international opposition

Better yesterday but on the whole definitely doesnt look ready. And someone needs to give him some proper food. Sammy should be nowhere near the first team. Love our young players for trying under the recent circumstances, but completely agree they need some time out on loan. At the moment Bigi's the one who looks the most ready. -
Whats the injury news on Ba and Santon? Cant find much on it. They both hobbled off didnt they?

Everyone's been down on form, him included. The fact he's had to play in different positions and roles to cover up the holes left by other players' absences have not helped. No doubt his legs are starting to go but I think once we have a semblance of our first team back together and some sort of momentum going we'll see him get better again. He's got plenty of offer us still.

What a massive relief that. Should have been a more controlled performance given we were at home, against a crap team, and against 10 men. But 3-0 will do fine thank you considering our form. Didnt start out too well, we needed that bit of fortune because in the beginning we were letting them have space in front of our defensive and it was all a bit nervy. Also shocking how much time we sometimes give the opposing team to set themselves and have a nice shot on goal. Anyway the passing and movement was loads better. Some encouragement at long last. Marveaux and Anita had their best games for us I think, easily. Jonas, Tiote and Cisse did better than recently but there's still loads to improve there though. Oh and what a class goal from Bigi!

So we're leaving Pardew alone now then?
-
He had a couple of great runs but his passing has got to improve loads and he disappears completely for long periods of the game, even though we were a man up yesterday. Anyway it was a marked improvement at least.
-
Yup. For once completely agree with the side put out today. Hopefully Marveaux can provide a bit of spark.

From Sky. So stats do support Pards' 'excuses' to an extent
