Brexit and Trumpism were both Russian strategies and financed as such. We will be much poorer for it, and as a function of that our military capability will diminish (and is diminishing already - RAF as an example, is half the size it was 10/12 years ago). The organisation we left is getting more powerful whilst we shrink, but it’s all good 🙄

The problem is, they’ve got an entrenched centuries old government machine and everything that feeds it, secret police etc etc. If Putin’s replaced it’s likely to be a new Putin in charge, maybe less rabid. Need a massive seismic shift to become a western democracy.

That’s a tricky one. They can’t legally do that, evidently the treaty governing the Bosporus states that even in time of war, vessels must be allowed to transit en route to their home ports. It would be an act of war, by Turkey. Nowt to stop them making it difficult though, customs inspections and the like under cover of checking for sanctions busting.

NATO multi national rapid response force. Air power etc. would be in theatre almost immediately. In these days, no-one gets invaded by surprise, force build ups are monitored etc.

Ukraine is pretty flat and is great tank country, (the biggest WW2 tank battles happened there) Russia has massive armour advantage, so they’ll move fast. But getting to Kyiv is one thing, taking it is a whole different kettle of fish. For WW2 parallel, see German rapid advances and then Stalingrad. Tankers hate urban settings/cities because they lose their speed and ability to manoeuvre. It is a permanent and major advantage to the defenders. You need infantry and huge numbers of them. A major fight in Kyiv will be horrific and massively costly.

That is shite, yeah there was an early neo-nazi leaning government, it lost big style in later elections and now gets a tiny proportion of votes similar as the cunts do here.
