Of course they don't but that stage of their history is WAY in the future, as was ours.

You misunderstand, I'm not saying that at all, but you can't expect anywhere to culturally evolve 1000 years worth of maturity in a few years, of course they should follow the model and move forward much quicker than we did, they are to a point (see Meenzer's article link) but the crux of the arguments seem to be "they're terrible, why aren't they like us NOW" that is just not feasible. By what factor does a century with a model to copy equate to working the model out for yourself ?? if 100 with the model to follow = 500 years without, they should be at our 1400 standards, 800 years = they'd be equivalent of us in 1700. We should applaud any progress, not just look at the shit and use it as a stick.

Yes they are, by our standards, standards that were 1000 years in the making. It's a horrific part of the world (not just Saudi) life's cheap in the middle east, we can only lead them forward, to try and force them will have the exact opposite effect and end in more suffering IMO. There are huge swathes of the world which are culturally still in the middle ages and those cultures are ingrained, so there's no easy/quick fix.

Listen to your Doctor Renton, I’m just back at work after thick end of 3 months off with stress/anxiety, spent a year supporting the family after what happened to Dan and forgot about myself. Take whatever time you need and meds if you need them, I devoured books and escapist TV stuff, nothing verging on serious/heavy shit. Went for walks, went to the pub etc. so don’t think OH! I’m on the sick I’d better stay in, it’s do anything that helps to divert/feel normal and it is absolutely OK. Diversion and time is what worked for me, similar as someone else said, my Doc said don’t even think about how long you are off, if you’d broken your leg that’d be six weeks off. He said there’s loads of people suffering as it is with all the Covid stuff, without the trauma you/me been through. Time works, don’t go back too soon, if you have the slightest doubt you are ready, you aren’t ready, and go back phased -there’s a bit on a sick note that says “you may be fit for work” and Doc can specify you should be phased back. That’s what I did, day week one and incremented days as I felt I could. All the best.

I've never found that twat in the slightest bit funny, ever tbh. Not surprised he's having a pop.

Am banned, for basically repeating what I posted on here about "how can we expect a less than 100 year country to be "western" and got lots of "sportwasher" comments back and simply asked each of them all to recant the points I'd made, and that breached the rules evidently

You can pay a lot of money for a caravan >£50K down to £300, wonder what end of the scale he's got.
-
It will, but will be interesting to see how "fast" that fast track is, legal searches take time etc. It should take a few weeks minimum, if it's 48 hours there's a rabbit off. Wonder who the money from sale price will go to.

I suspect sailing through the fit and proper is a given, no matter who.

Excellent read Meenzer, thanks for that, I guess these short quotes make the point I was trying to make: "Cultural practices decades or centuries old do not yield suddenly". "Sometimes this is how absolute power relaxes its grip: slowly, without anyone noticing. In England, the transition from absolute monarchy to a fully constitutional one took 200 years, not all of them superintended by the most stable kings".

I hardly know anyone (apart from me) who hasn't had it recently, including my Mrs (we both also had it way back in 2020 before it was a well known thing - (all the symptoms which at the time weren't known/considered as symptoms).

Newcastle United: Club Sold To PCP - Official
Toonpack replied to The Mighty Hog's topic in Newcastle Forum
Meanwhile our supposedly “not horrible” regime have facilitated over 150K potentially avoidable deaths, we have around 3000 food banks but some foreign lot are despicable by “our standards”, aye ok. Not so long ago we were all but were doing what Saudi does, we didn’t ban execution of minors until 1908. Societally Saudi is hundreds of years behind us, it didn’t even exist as we know it, until 1932, it was more like a tribal society as far as I know. Harshest of environments and therefore harsh people. To expect such a place to conform to our so called standards of society, in what would be the blink of an eye in historical terms, is preposterous IMO. They are reforming, but it just won’t be quick, how long did it take us beacons of virtue, to give women the vote?, and they had to fight for it (as an example). Is it terrible, of course it is, but then again so were workhouses, hanging even kids for petty theft, debtors prisons etc etc etc We’re comparing chalk and matured cheese. We hanged this amount of people per year in the 1820’s -
Fuck me! CT’s going break into Stamford Bridge isn’t he, death by pies, dozens of pies 🥧 🥧 🥧 🥧 🥧🥧 🥧🥧 🥧🥧 🥧 🥧

Chelsie fans all bleating about why are the government only going after us, they’re too dim to realise whatever is happening to the club is just what’s happening to all his frozen assets, it’s just the club situation is getting the publicity. Cunts, I’ve hated them since Peter Osgood days.

Apropos of nothing. My brother had to go to an outdoor function exhibition thing that was being opened by the Queen Mother. She arrived by helicopter and disappeared into an awaiting marquee for a while, she then appeared and met everyone and opened said function. The Marquee was for her to have her pre-royal engagement G&T in private - It was 8:30 a.m.

Sadly, as it always has been and undoubtedly always will be. Has there ever been a time where it wasn't happening somewhere, on the whim of someone in power.

As an aside, when I worked in Aberdeen some of the guys had worked in Russia and knew of the Chelski oligarch from back then, they said if he was talked about it was with the care you would take if you were talking about Don Corleone in the Godfather.
