That's the crux of the argument. Some see the trophies, some see the man. I respect Man U and Arsenal for different reasons. There is not one thing I respect or admire about Chelsea, and no-one I know does either. I don't want to be like Chelsea, I don't see how that is betraying the cause of wanting NUFC to win.

That's not what I said

Nicely put. I think people who say this sort of thing, and Vic said similar things on N-O and I classify him in the same way, don't really care that much about NUFC. I'm not saying I'm the bestest fan in the world or owt but I'd take Mourinho here in a heartbeat and I'd happily lose the dozens (if that isn't overestimating it a bit) mongs who place maintaining some sort of weird (and imaginary) moral code higher than winning things. I mean it's not as though we haven't had wankers who've managed and played for us in the past anyway. It just so happens they didn't bring success. The whole notion that we are somehow better than other fans like Chelsea's and that winning trophies with an arrogant manager in charge would spoil this is flawed anyway. As a collective, we probably would become less liked because of envy, but as an individual, what do I care? I'd still be the same person, but I'd be enjoying match days, and I'd be supporting a successful football team - everything to gain, nothing to lose. The perception that outsiders would have of Newcastle as a team or a set of fans would be of no concern to me (I'm not even convinced we're all that well liked anyway) - like you say, anyone that cares more about that than they do about the successes we have as a club obviously values the romantic notion of being an NUFC supporter more than what really matters - being a successful football team. Losers' mentality. If you care about winning so much, why support Newcastle? I know you're not over 50. You know you're not supporting NUFC for the glory, so why would you do anything for success? How far does it go? Would you see Freddy start another Bosman type case just so we could keep Micheal Owen and win the Prem, even if it meant changing the international game forever? What price a trophy? I want to win as much as any fan, but I can see that Mourihno has changed Chelsea for the worse in all other respects other than how many trophies they have. And everyone can stop making out this is support for a nice guy over a winner, it's not. It is possible to have a manager who is both. If you want to support a team that cheats their way to success, so be it. If you want a manager that doesn't even acknowledge that footaball is a 2 team game, fine. If you want a team that is no doubt despised by everyone else in the country, that's fine. That's not competition in my book. That's not respect in my book. Success without respect is a hollow victory.

Just shook my head, but my opinion didn't change. Did I do it wrong? Nah, you're just a spastic. Ah right. Does that make you a simpleton?

Who should America make Queen then? Oprah? Well she is technically still in charge

When it comes to being a twat mourinho is in another league. I don't want anything from him. Any toon fan who did laud in his achievements would get no respect from me, and I'll think you'll find that's how most Chelsea fans are viewed aswell. I'm lauding him. Honours * With F.C. Porto: o Portuguese Championships (2): 2002/03; 2003/04 o SuperCup Cândido de Oliveira: 2003 o Cup of Portugal: 2002/03 o UEFA Cup: 2002/03 o UEFA Champions League: 2003/04 * With Chelsea FC: o FA Premier League (2): 2004/05; 2005/06 o Football League Cup(2): 2004/05, 2006/07 o FA Community Shield: 2005 I meant any achievements here. I don't give a rat's fanny what he's done elsewhere, respect the man not the trophies. So he's a wanker, I'll take a successful wanker over an inept nice-guy every single time. I'll take a decent man who is a decent manager over both of those You must be fairly happy with Glenn Roeder then. How do you come to that conclusion then? Most would agree Roeder is a decent bloke but a shit manager, so considering your previous statement about managerial qualities he score reasonably high for you ? The statement wasn't an order of preference.

Any toon fan who did laud in his achievements would get no respect from me, and I'll think you'll find that's how most Chelsea fans are viewed aswell. Well luckilly, i think all the other toon fans would cope without your respect as they sat back and enjoyed watching a successful team. And you'll find that not one single Chelsea fan gives a flying fuck how they're viewed as they watch their manager guide them to trophy after trophy. Just as manu fans couldn't give a toss that other teams fans want them to lose and say they're all glory hunters (whether they are or not) and arsenal fans didn't care when people said they were boring as they won trophies (under Graham) and now they don't care if people say they haven't enough english players or any other criticism you care to name. No teams fans who are succesful and winnign give a shit what other clubs fans call them or think of them. I don't view Arsenal fans or (true) ManU fans the same as Chelsea fans. I actually believe Toon fans are viewed in a different light by all other fans, but if that has to change for sucess, so be it, I'll find another club.

Aye keep him away, all those tropy thingies would look totally out of place at NUFC. Makes no difference to me. We could win the treble under him and I would still revoke my support if he was the representative of the club. Bollocks... And you know me from where?

You think Souness and Roeder use it ? Got any evidence they don't? Roeder gave Dyer the armband for motivational reasons. And thank fuck he did, otherwise we might have lost......... You can't polish a turd -

The Queen is off on a state visit to America today, and will stop and pay her respects on behalf of the nation to the Virginia University. How anyone can even consider preferring a president over the Queen is beyond me. And to top it all off, her grandson is off to fight in Iraq, and as Micheal Moore pointed out to us, neither George Bush nor a single US senator has had a child sent to Iraq to serve their country.

So which is it? A reliable source or a rumour?

I think he honestly believed his own hype when he thought he could just fire SBR and get another high profile manager. Little did he realise he'd used up all decent Geordie managers. Any player worth their salt? Let's have a look see at who signed for Chelsea after we finished 3rd: Duff Parker Bridge
