Allardyce set to become Newcastle boss by May 14
Super_Steve_Howey replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
This tbh. I think he could get us CL football, he's looked like doing it a few times with Bolton but for one reason or another didn't make it, last season he looked like doing it but Bolton went to pieces when he was linked with the England job, I see no reason for him not to do it here with better players and money to spend. It'll take time though, he'll need 2 or 3 years to get the club on the right track IMO. Since when? -

I can't believe he wasn't called as a witness. -
oooh ..get you...grammar school innit
-
I started with a 20 min walk one way to the primary school, then went to the comp next to it. Thankfully escaped there at 13 and went to the grammar school, but that was another 20 minutes past the comp, so I had to fight my way through a good few times, thankfully compo kids are thick fuckers and can't fight for shit

It's also down to the New Labour everyone has the right to choose what school they go to bollocks, irrespective of whether that's miles away. Just because kids are too pussy nowadays to put up with a bit of bullying and a few learning challenges.
-
What gets me is the idiots who claim it's not safe for the kids to walk, because of the ROADS! You see them parked nose to tail both sides of the road, right up to the edge of the wavy lines, traffic trying to use the road and having to negotiate traffic islands like chicanes, and god help you if this is a bus route too. I swear some turn up half an hour early to get the spot nearest the gates. It is just sad and pathetic.

His successful spells at Limerick, Blackpool and Notts County don't count at all then? How is that relevant to managing in the Premiership in the current era? How is it not a valid reponse to the point you made? I didn't think it needed qualifying Quite ironic given your penchance for pedantry I'd say. nadgers to you too

I'm indebted to SSH for bringing this grave error to my attention. It's a big difference actually when you consider what the aims and motives of the Premier League were when they split from the FA
-
Seconded. Aside from the comedy responses, theres a serious point of principle here and it's really important that he be taught he can't just order the FA about. It's getting out of hand the influence he tries to assert and I for one applaud their stance. This has nothing to do with the FA

What I'm saying is, at the time, no one would have asked for Souness back once Roeder had replaced him. Anyone was better than Souness at the time, just as now anyone is better than Roeder, ergo the 'anyone better' argument doesn't necessarily get you anywhere.

Liverpool.....a club run properly....
Super_Steve_Howey replied to Asprilla's topic in Newcastle Forum
What is your point exactly? That everything about Liverpool is geared towards being successful (scouring Europe for Benitez). Whilst everything at Newcastle is geared towards just getting by (appointing a caretaker because it involved the least hassle). I reckon that was probably his point. The sky is blue aswell It's grey. See. Every simplistic point actually has deep undercurrents of complexity which must be debated and explained -
I'm talking about the amazing hindsight of just wanting 'anyone better than Roeder' when that criteria was plainly met by Roeder replacing Souness at the time
-
Roeder was 'just better than Souness' Was/is he? Not so sure myself. You think it was a backwards step? I don't think you'll find anyone who wanted to keep Souness over Roeder
-

The lads got a point. The working conditions here as compared to Bolton would be completely different. Just assuming he would do well might be misplaced, seeing as he's only ever worked for Bolton
