It will become Medicaid/Medicare. The services provided free at the point of delivery will be of such a standard (thanks to underfunding, understaffing etc.) that expensive private healthcare with be the attractive option. Honestly? 1 side is using this pay/hours dispute to further the privatisation of the NHS 1 side is using this pay/hours dispute to pay doctors a wage reflective of their value/give doctors a work-life balance that the majority of us enjoy. The trouble is, on so many things, you know no better. As an anecdotal aside, 6 out of the 9 junior doctors I know are 100% planning to leave the NHS if the contract is enforced as it stands. Some are planning to go to Australia, one is leaving the profession entirely.

The junior doctors will fuck off elsewhere to be replaced by an expensive private healthcare alternative further increasing the gap between the haves and have nots. coming from a bloke whose idea of grafting is hanging around a supermarket to drive a biddy home. What he does for a job I do as a favour. Knackered doctors are more likely to make life threatening mistakes, but fuck getting more staff in cos it'll cost more. When the NHS is finally ruined by the tories CT will be the 1st to be on here asking which is the cheapest health insurance because he can't afford that and whatever hobby he's flirting with now.
