  1. I've seen us win at Barnsley, Leeds and Preston so far so I'm hoping I can continue being a lucky charm for us down there on Saturday night. Thought that was a thoroughly deserved win last night. More of the ball, more corners, more attempts, more attempts on target and more goals. I don't think you can get much more clear than that (especially when their penalty was soft at best). Superb finish by Diame as well. If Messi or Zlatan had done that they would have been replaying it for years.
  2. Gouffran has pace and is a decent finisher. I'm actually with quiff on this one. We'll see how it works but it could be a clever move.
  3. I'm wondering if he's wanting the ball to stick with the wingers.
  4. Not at all but I can't remember another save anything like it. If it had been made by a Liverpool or Man Utd keeper Sky would have been wanking them silly over it for months.
  5. Recovering from and making up for mistakes is an important thing for any player (particularly a keeper) so do it without actually conceding a goal is something I would say deserves credit rather than criticism.
  6. I admit I still have no idea what happened with him letting go of the ball in the first place (at the time I assumed he thought he was going out of the box and let go but the replay doesn't back that up), his handling is usually very good. The save that followed it is one of the most amazing I've ever seen though.
  7. I'd forgotten that was Rotherham but had remembered the incident and overlooked it on the back of his amazing recovery.
  8. Aye seeing the replay he certainly shouted for it. I do think he's rushing off his line a bit much at the moment but I think it's got a lot to do with Lascelles being half asleep in front of him and him trying to cover it.
  9. I am, what was it? Criticism is part and parcel of any sport but all of a sudden people forget the standards he's set this season before his recent blip.
  10. Aye no one had any confidence in Sels because everything he did seemed technically wrong. I wouldn't mind him punching but more often than not he flapped. He just kept doing the same things wrong. Even the saves he made all seemed a struggle. Then Darlow came in and was doing pretty much everything right (making good saves, looking composed, coming out for balls into the box and taking pressure off the defence). If he keeps making errors then his position needs to be reconsidered. As it is, he's probably made less errors than anyone else in the team this season.
  11. Very true. Given was a superb keeper but dealing with crosses was anything but a strength. I think people are being a bit harsh on Darlow at the minute. He's certainly dropped two clangers against QPR and Norwich (and arguably against Bristol) but he's played well all season and everyone seemed very confident in him until the last couple of weeks. The Norwich one in particular was just one of those things that could happen to anyone at any time, and I'd argue that none of the mistakes that he's made have been down to lack of ability on his part.
  12. Worryingly I think a lot of people have that attitude. I know a couple of lads who regularly leave at half time and just go and get pissed.
  13. The atmosphere when I started going to games in the mid 80's was so much better and we'd had nothing to cheer about (other than a promotion) for years then. I don't think the lack of anything to cheer about is the problem, it's just mindset of supporters these days. I don't think it's limited to us either.
  14. I'm not sure about that. I think there is an argument that he shouldn't have come out but all Dummett had to do was leave the ball and he wouldn't have been under pressure.
  15. I disagree there like. Elliot did really well last season but I think regardless of a couple of daft mistakes, Darlow looks the better keeper. I can't think of a keeper we've had in the last 30 years who's better than him at dealing with crosses.
  16. I still think he's probably our best bet long term but you're right Rafa doesn't seem to agree.
  17. Thought Dummett was at fault for their second on Saturday not Darlow. Darlow clearly shouted for it but Dummett decided to head it anyway. I'd be more inclined to change the defence than Darlow at this stage. I fancy us to step up our game for this one though and think we'll get a tough 1-0.
  18. There's been booing a few times at half time this season and it's ridiculous (although if the players deserved it after any half of football it was this one). Lascelles, Dummett, Yedlin, Perez, Colback and Mitrovic were all shite. I'd seriously consider dropping Lacselles now, he's been terrible for weeks and Hanley and Mbemba could both do a better job.
  19. Gutted about this one. Hudson, Chet and Simon are three of my favourite characters. RIP
  20. Neither did The Maltese Falcon which was clearly the best picture that year, just ahead of Suspicion. Moonlight was a worthy winner for me. I've not seen Lion yet but I thought it was better than the other contenders. I don't really imagine any of this years nominees will be remembered with anything like the same regard as Citizen Kane, The Maltese Falcon, Suspicion or How Green Was My Valley though.
  21. Big three matches though. Plus the 4th one would be Reading and he's not going to be back fully match fit by then.
  22. They'll be back in Europe next season mind. Although I doubt he'll be with them.
