Ben Arfa is no threat to his place. He is a threat for LW position. For Pardew to play Barfa in a No. 10 role, then he needs to buy a Defoe-esque striker, one who'll exploit the gaps. Otherwise, if we go for the usual big strong front man, then Barfa will be better suited to playing on the left, providing decent balls. Gutierrez isn't safe from the bench and he knows that! Unless he wants Barfa eating the scraps from a big mans knock downs? Maybe also wanting Barfa to pick the ball up in "the hole" and splay it out for the wide men? Good strikers are more expensive than good wingers and certain;y more than good right backs. This is exactly what a number 10 should be doing. If we went with a defoe type player we have have zero ariel threat at all. A big lad with good feet, strong and good in the air is what we need. Just like what we had.

The mackems have a fairly decent run in tbh. Out of all there remaining games only fulham and bolton are in the top half of the table.

We could do with someone who can cover both wings...Lens or Jarvis would do. Maybe even Brunt. We NEED a 1st team striker and possibly another as backup but id be happy with one so long as he's quality. We also NEED cover for both fullbacks too. I dont think we need at CB.

The entire forum said Nolan had shite technique 4 years ago, I got laughed at for saying his technique particularly in the box is almost peerless in English football. Who looks the mugs now? His finish yesterday absolutely brilliant, half of strikers would've panicked but I would've staked my life on him scoring. Iv slated him in the past, like many others have also, more so for his work ethic. But we've all realised that although he doesnt exactly cover masses of ground, his movement and runs into the box, his goals, composure and leadership qualities are invaluable. Very important play for us, as too is Barton, Tiote and Coloccini. Them four for me are our most important figures in the team.

And yeah I'm inclined to agree with that. One more win and a draw should be enough. Any more is a bonus. Should be doable. Personally i think we might go on a bit of a run. That win will lift a bit pressure and if we can get a point or more at villa then the pressure will be gone. That then should mean we can play at ease and finish as high as we can. I dont expect to get anything from chelsea, man u or liverpool but we could...you never know. Villa and Blackpool away are games we could well win but id be happy with a point.
