  1. Aye I was too young some goal that though. The first League Cup I remember was Oxford winning it about 87. Even just looking at that youtube though seeing Liverpool in the 80's, they held that aura about them, that "bastion of invincibility" Shankly used to talk about. Liverpool of today really are just another club, in terms of squad quality you'd put them 8th or 9th at best, they just have nothing at all, other than a fantastic history between the mid 60's and end of the 80's, in which they won 13 of their 18 league titles, and 4 of their 5 European Cups. Everton have a MUCH better side than they do, and although we've not been firing on all cylinders so do we, we'll probably lose though with Anfield being a major bogie ground. When I was a kid Liverpool was always a big game, a challenge, now it's not much more than playing mid table plodders like Aston Villa. It goes without saying Man Utd and Arsenal are bigger in the modern game than them by far, and with their wealth Man City and Chelsea too. When you think the key men like Gerrard and Carragher (well he's not now) they won't be around in 3 years time, they genuinely need a whole new team, and the fickle nature of their fans won't make life easy for Rodgers, in the years it takes them to become a top 6 club again. Their top players like Suarez and Agger won't put up with the inevitable two more years of 8th and 9th neither, and neither will Abdul in Bangalore watching the internet streams in his fake red Liverpool top. For years they had a near monopoly on glory hunters around the world, why would a glory hunter want to support them now? A rotten club who condone racist behaviour, a club with little chance of real glory in the short and medium term, as I said their evolution will see them turn in to an Aston Villa. Tottenham have overtaken them without doubt, and while the yids are almost as odious a club as they are, they've risen to the top doing things properly, they haven't done it by artifical means relying on American owners to spunk £20 on the likes of Henderson and Downing.
  2. I can't remember that Alex, I remember his flying volley against the USSR in Euro 88 though.
  3. Show me a post where I have said we're a "big club", we're bigger than all bar 3 or 4 clubs (including yourselves) Liverpool aren't a big club in modern football, by that I mean a top club that can compete for league titles every season. Surely that's what a big club is.
  4. It started to go wrong for them when Ian Rush came back, Aldridge sharp fucked off to Real Sociedad, where he was a major success (much better goals to game ratio than Lineker at Barca), they only won one more title after that. I know Barnes got all the plaudits, and without doubt at club level he was one of the best players in the world, but Beardsley made them tick too, how can any manager sell Peter Beardsley? He was quite simply without being biased one of the best players the game has ever seen, and players who played with him say the same which counts for a lot more than a fans view. Souness absolutely ruined Liverpool FC. Selling Beardsley to Everton for 900k and replacing him with Paul Stewart for double the money. What a cunt.
  5. Was he not in midfield? I remember his third came down the right, little dink at the leazes end over Gary Kelly.
  6. An absolute joke of a presenter, but when Liverpool really were a big club when I was about 8 or 9, they beat us 1-4 here and he got a hattrick playing in a defensive midfield role, he was fantastic, mind so was Ronnie Whelan.
  7. He said the other week Sunderland v Newcastle is like Ipswich v Norwich. I watched that merseyside derby well the first half, four goals and STILL absolutely no passion. Bores me rigid that fixture, utterly incomparable to Newcastle v Sunderland.
  8. Well try and quieten down or your carer will get reported.
  9. Both our clubs have had problems with owners in recent times, and I know Mike Ashley was a hugely unpopular figure not so long ago? Has the recent success of your side since promotion meant that the ill feeling towards him has somewhat diminished? No the bloke will die a cunt. We are where we are through nothing but luck. Stoke have spent more than us with less resources, the only billionaire owner who won't spend his excess cash. That's not even why I hate him though, I hate him because he's absolutely obliterated the NUFC brand, and he's the opposite of decent. He's a cunt, he's not wanted. We are a tacky bunch of PUMA wearing meffs, when just 9 years ago we were the 8th richest club in world football. St James Park? Sports Direct Arena, Wonga etc? What's going on with the name of such an iconic football stadium and how concerning has that whole issue been to fans? Do you care what the stadium is called or do you look more towards the finances that naming rights brings? Of course we care, it sums Ashley up. He's a borrow boy, with absolutely no respect for the institution he bought. Alan Pardew, he was brought in to replace the popular Chris Hughton and like Mike Ashley, he seemed to be unpopular. From the outside looking in, he seems to have done well. What are your opinions of him now, and how would you describe your style of play? I'm not in love with him as a bloke, but his performance as manager with what he's had at his disposal, 9/10 minimum. His constant rimming of Ashley is massively irritating though. "Not a lot of peepuw know this but Mike actually bought a new kettle for the boys in the changing room, peepuw don't see that side to Mike. Let's talk transfers. After a few years of your club having a bit of a nightmare when it came to transfers, you seemed to have done really well in recent years by acquiring very good players for seemingly small fees. Who takes the credit for this and are you worried that some of your players may leave if some Champions League clubs come knocking? The credit goes to one man, the miracle worker that is Graham Carr. If we win the Champions League in the future, and plenty smaller clubs than us have, Ashley will get no credit. I wish him all the bad luck in the world the fat bastard. At this moment in time Man Utd can nab our players, and obviously due to their artificial finance Man City and Chelsea, it's a fact of life until we can move in to their league, as it is for Liverpool as seen with the Torres deal. How would you describe your season so far? Has it met expectations? Aye, we've been shite Speaking of expectations, what where yours for this season? Did your success last year possibly make expectations a bit too high amongst the Geordie faithful? I expect and expected us to come 8th-12th, massive negative air about the club due to fatty's disgraceful summer transfer window. That said we've only lost to the European Champions and favourites for the title this year. I'd like to ask you some questions about Liverpool if I may. What are your thoughts on our new manager Brendan Rodgers, the style of play he is trying to implement at Anfield and how Liverpool have started this season? I think there'll be little or no improvement from Liverpool this season, the wasted millions from the laughable King Kenny, will haunt the club for years. £75m for Downing, Carroll and Henderson. We paid £9m for Ben Arfa, Demba and Cabaye who are in another league to those players. Gerrard is getting older still class though, I think Liverpool need half a new team, it will be difficult because your better players like Agger won't take 8th, 9th and 10th every season which is all I can see at Liverpool for the forseeable future. Rodgers will need the full three years to improve things on the pitch, will his impact be like it was at Swansea or will it be like his brief reign at Reading? One thing is sure he needs to exceed what looks achievable to get full support from the demanding Liverpool crowd. Andy Carroll, you sold him when he was riding the crest of a wave. After a poor start at Anfield, he seemed to finish last season strongly, and he played well for England in the summer. How do you feel Liverpool handled the situation with Andy, and what were your thoughts in the summer when he was linked with a return to Newcastle? I feel Rodgers is an idiot OK. I think he's trying to change too much too soon OK. He has this deluded idea he can make Liverpool like Barcelona OK. His praise of Skrtel's howler against Man City was completely laughable OK. He said, "I'll never bollock you for an error like that OK." Fucking Allardyce would've strung him up by the clems OK. Seeing as you got the better end of the Carroll transfer, how about repaying the favour? Fancy buying Joe Cole? In fact, can I pay you guys to take him off our hands? Think Joe Cole has been on a hiding to nothing there, same as Konchesky was. Newcastle fans, while thinking he was shite, stuck with James Perch, and his growing confidence is a testament to the crowd. I feel the Anfield crowd is very much different. Let's concentrate on the game itself now. Are there any of our players that worry you ahead of Sunday's game? Stevie G. He's still world class, fair enough he's won the Champions League and a few FA Cup's, but he'll look back on his career with regret that he never got to play for one of the true big clubs. A Man Utd, a Milan, a Real Madrid, because without doubt he's been good enough to play for that level of club. Liverpool while having a magnificent history in the 70's and 80's, have only really put one title bid in since 1990, and that's not good enough for a player of that class. He is a threat at all times with his vision, drive, shooting and passing, so is Suarez. How do you see the game panning out? Think we'll soak up pressure and hit on the break, we'll try and slow the game down. What side would you expect Alan Pardew to pick for the game? If Demba is fit, same team as last week, possibly with Saylor in for Williamson, and Cisse for Shola. Finally, fancy making a prediction? Been far too long since we beat Liverpool away, we generally expect to beat them at home and go to Anfield with little more than a degree of hope, but 17 years without a victory is too long and it's time to bury this hoodoo. I haven't been impressed with Liverpool this season, and to be fair in the league we haven't been impressive once yet ourselves, so we are due a decent performance hopefully it comes on Sunday. Liverpool 0 Newcastle 2.
  10. Prior to the Champions League win in 2005, they were getting 33 and 34000 for a number of games in the league, we were getting 15,000 more in the Championship! Interesting to see even people like Craig incorrectly buying in to this myth about Liverpool's support.
  11. https://twitter.com/...er.com/8hfzxyP0 The best thing I can say is I weigh less than Richard Dunne.
  12. Whey its all the same once you get past Stoke isn't it?
  13. No but you wouldn't just say that though. I said it cos he misses loads of sitters, he's only 19 though he's got good movement, I think truthfully we should put a sly bid in, I was quite impressed. Andy Cole used to miss loads of sitters, but he got loads of chances because of his movement.
  14. An historic moment on Toontastic, I can honestly say good post J69, not one thing I disagree with, well apart from Sammy needs to play more often. He's shit, and he'll end up at Derby/Sheff Utd, the rest I actually said most of them yesterday after the match. Jonas just runs about, working hard, taking one for the team but does very little constructive.
  15. I hate scousers, they're generally rude, and have an amazing sense of self importance. However, they're not all boring and that's not something you could accuse brummies of. TBH I prefer WBA to the other three brummie supports. I believe Birmingham and the general connurbation has an effect on them, it has to, I always imagine a nuclear war when I think of Birmingham.
  16. applicable to any support from the West Midlands. I don't wish to sound like Hitler, but I've always found them noticably ugly, genuinely too. I was studying the Villa fans the other week, some of them shouldn't come out the house their faces are so offensive.
  17. Imo everything boils down to this. He's scoring goals so that's the excuse. The fact is (imo) Pardew isn't man enough to stand up to Demba. Anyone would think he's Alan Shearer.
  18. Utter utter shite. I think Pards must've been on the LSD last night, it summed up Pards poor selection, that Shola (?!?) in a right back position played their centre forward onside for the goal. Fucking woeful. We are so lucky. So, so, so lucky, but I don't feel guilty. Perch in midfield man, how many sides will we play where we "dominate the midfield" with that League One standard plodder there. Nee wonder at times we were reduced to long ball in the first half.
  19. The coffin is returning today. Black Bull 130, nowt to do with Steve W apparently. Someone else organising it. [itk/]
  20. No, I would just like to know what city you're from because it's not Newcastle.
