But what if it's a stranger or"just a friend you have not met yet" ?? This really puzzles me and i did mean it as a serious question. Small talk does not have to be about boring shit necessarily. I get the fact that people may be uncomfortable small-talking in large groups of strangers but he is actually like this on a one to on or one to two basis......it's like pulling teeth and I get the feeling he just uses the small talk thing to cover up the fact that he just does not want to get to know anybody !! Many have tried and failed with him over the last year or so so the majority have just given up now..

Actually, that describe me pretty much as well. One reason why I haven't been to a piss up yet - when I do I hope people don't think I'm aloof - I'm just shy!
