The De Jong brothers what a monumental waste of time and money they have been for Newcastle.

"Can I have your shirt mr Sissoko?" "I'm sorry little man I've already promised it to one of my team mates, they want to have something to remind them of playing with a player of my calibre"
-
Sissoko would probably start attacking against Newcastle as it's only natural for him to assume he was playing for Barca.
-
Messi vs Dummett, that would be worth watching.

I think the top tier is those that have a shot at winning tournaments, it has been a long time since England had a really realistic chance of winning one (probably Euro 2004). We're a fairly average International team and I think calling us a second tier team is fair (the type of team that is good enough to qualify for tournaments but is really just making up the numbers). Would you say Wales is a top tier national side? I know they hadn't qualified for a tournament from the 1950's to 2016 but International football is a quick changing environment and I don't think their history is really a factor in what their current team is capable of (see Colombia, a team I would consider top tier, as an example of that). I don't think Wales are a top tier side and I also don't think we stand much more chance of winning Euro 2016 than them. I'd say the top tier is made up of teams like: Spain, Germany, Chile, Argentina, and Colombia (not saying that's it but just off the top of my head), England can't compete with any of them at the moment so we're in that second tier with sides like Switzerland, Belgium, Uruguay, France etc.

Barcelona currently demolishing Roma 5-0, I wonder what they would do against our team of superstars.

Moussa Sissoko signs for Spurs for like £30m or WatEVA
Howay replied to Park Life's topic in Newcastle Forum
Agreed, over his time here he has more than deserved to be dropped for long stretches where he has done nothing at all. He only kept his place due to complete lack of options.- 1745 replies

Agreed, we qualify but don't really stand much chance of winning any of the tournaments so I'd say second rate is a fair description. We can field a team that are all Premier League level players but very few of them are top level players and I wouldn't class any of them as world class. Most of the squad comes from sides like Everton, Spurs, Southampton and Liverpool, whereas teams like Germany, Spain and Italy have squads consisting mainly of players from Bayern, Barca and Juve level sides. We're just one of the sides making up the numbers of the tournaments and have been for a long time.

I agree to a point but I think the players are better than what we're seeing (I don't think they're great mind). We got completely bossed by Bournemouth who had a central midfield of Surman and Gosling, our central midfielders are without doubt better than them two. There just doesn't seem to be any sort of tactic other than trying to retain the ball, no real runs are made etc. I agree the players should also shoulder blame because they simply aren't performing but I'm really struggling to see much of an improvement tactically over the Pardew/Carver shite and while I was happy to give McClaren time it's starting to get a bit worrying as he has had 5-6 months now to make some sort of impact.
-
Aye his track record is worrying tbh. Joe Kinnear, Alan Shearer, Kevin Keegan (to try and get fans on side but he had been out of work for years), Hughton, Pardew, Bassett and now McClaren, all the cheapest option he thought could do a job and as you say a good few of them had been sacked by lower league sides and the others either had no experience or had been out of football for years.
-
Do you honestly see any sort of system though? We done okay early on in the season and had a lot of the ball against good sides and we could write off the lack of chances due to it being against top sides but those lack of chances has continued against everyone we've played. He put on the same side that he did against Bournemouth which was an appalling performance, we're in real danger of relegation the way we are playing. I don't disagree that if we do get someone it'll be another shite to average English manager who is out of contract but the fact is McClaren has had no more impact than John Carver did so far.
-
We're fucking shocking like, the last two games have been really worrying. We simply aren't in games at all, is McClaren bothering with any sort of tactics? We never get shots, when we go forward we look clueless. It's getting frustrating as they've had enough games to be showing signs of a system but we look worst than we did earlier in the season.

Little twat, Sissoko should have pushed him away from goal rather than letting him get on his inside. The commentator has just jizzed all over the place about the record, fantastic that him and Van Nistelrooy both got this record against us at home. We've looked poor yet again like, the commentator on mine keeps saying he expected more from us after the win away from Bournemouth so I assume he didn't watch us play Bournemouth.
