  1. Straight from the Chronicle text pages . I'm even more inclined to believe it too because it's in capital letters .
  2. I do kind of agree with that, I would much rather footballers shut up and got on with it (I'm talking to you Stephen Taylor). However, having said that, Owen really should have come out at the start of the summer and put all the transfer speculation to bed. Instead, he did it just as the season started. Which adds fuel to the flames that he wanted to fuck off in the summer. I'd like to think it would have changed a thing, I doubt it though. We've got people on here who think Anelka is coming here after signing a contract 3 months ago, there's nothing factual you can say to some people, like I said, they think they know the kid better than himself. That's why he says nothing. The only time he has said anything is when prompted by ill advised comments from the club itself, from Fat Fred and now Sam, which is a clear sign he does care, when you're getting shit off you're own club that's different from tripe written by half-wit journos digested by chronicle texting spackas.
  3. "We can't lose a helicopter here, doesn't matter if it's just got you 4 in it, or 50 grunts in the back, we must NOT lose a chopper here" Equipment shortages must be quite bad I guess
  4. If he left he'd be taking a wage cut and we'd be saving over 100k a week so I'm not too sure about that. Are we brassik then?
  5. The thing about Owen is he never talks. Consequently, every man and his dog thinks they know what goes on in his head, and take his silence as validation of their sometimes idiotic viewpoints. If he left, and you couldn't blame him given the shit he gets, it's Newcastle that lose, not Owen. I'll save my vitriol for the players that have really damaged this club, not on irrelevances like 'Owen doesn't sleep in an NUFC duvet cover - NOTW exclusive'.
  6. Cat shit is shit like.
  7. Can I ask what I thought was an obvious question but no one's raised: What was Owens reply?
  8. Anelka signed a new contract after Sam left. http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2159039,00.html
  9. The main argument I've heard is that it would be easily circumvented through bonuses, image rights, ancillary agreements etc. At the end of the day, the only reason they get paid that much is it only takes one club out of 20 to crack and offer that little bit more to land a player (NUFC guilty more than most under Fat Fred), this is what has led to the spiraling wages. Without that inflationary pressure, a lot of the extra money in the game could have gone to cheaper tickets or better facilities.
  10. Edited down from: 'That fat twat...' Seriously, as usual with Owen who actually keeps himself to himself with the press, this is only a story because Sam started commenting on Owen and England. I hoped he was smarter than that really.
  11. No-one giving it to the Find Maddie fund then?
  12. Well, I for one think they're a bit late if they are claiming to protect service. I don't think anyone really cares after the point was crossed that you didn't get your mail until after leaving for work. All of which was agreed by the union. As for closing post offices, I don't think anyone can argue they are shutting profitable offices, that argument has been done to death I think, and won't be changed by striking either. Off topic but that one has always amazed me. People wanting their mail before they leave for work. The reality with that was that within the last 10-15 years the job changed incredibly mainly with the increased popularity in direct mail and also the internet (internet shopping etc has actually had the opposite effect that what had been speculated). Add this to the fact that starting times are made later and later and there are continued job cuts and over the last few years a major change in the deliveries, with what used to be classed a delivery now having another half a delivery added to it and the bosses constantly trying to add even more onto it, it is not possible for everyone to get their mail "first thing". Obviously there will be a start and an end for a delivery route and it is just unfortunate for some that those at the end will get their mail a lot later than those at the start. First thing has been achievable in the past. If it's not now, fine, but my point is it's not exactly important once you cross that threshold is it?
  13. Why don't they just commission architects to build their ultimate houses then? Lacking in imagination? Surely not. Owen designed his Cheshire pad didn't he? They could get him to do it then. It must be the one off that recent documentary, where his missus is running a stable. I had half a mind it was Rooney before.
  14. On more than one occasion, on having a weekday off, I have seen the bloke get out the van without the parcel, card ready in hand. He puts it through my box, no knocking or anything. What's that all about?

  16. The pay is sorted, the pension malarky is sad if true but not fixable by a strike. At the end of the day, they are fucking the whole country up over not being able to go home when their bag is empty, not when their paid time is up.

  18. Go into business, you don't see any poor company directors do you? £100k isn't even enough to build a property empire these days

  23. That's my afternoon sorted. Wispa hunt!
  24. I don't think it would be a bad idea for Allardyce to ask him to take the fortnight to get fully fit in training, rather than in 2 competitive games in 4 days. Which is something Fifa prevents Allardyce from doing. I'd like to think McLaren would have the sense to use Owen sparingly though if he can. Aye, well the number of times Ryan Giggs has sustained slight strains on the eve of a Wales game suggests there are ways around that. That is exactly why the England set up has all the power now - too many clubs taking the piss too many times.
