  1. House of Cards season 4. I found season 3 fairly enjoyable, the writers were clearly trying to leave their options open so that Clinton's evolving candidacy for the Democrats could provide a mimetic backdrop to this season's story.
  2. Exodus, SALTs, Phoenix, Royal We, Velocity, NJM and Robocop. UK Turk has loads of old British TV and a decent concerts collection which is all probably on YouTube anyway but worth having. Install the Trakt addon too, most of my collections have synced across the addons which is good.
  3. Been watching Man in the High Castle. I get far too into these sort of things. Loving it.
  4. I had to google which clubs Van Gaal had been at never mind what he won and when
  5. Not remembering the whether RM had won much during 2 seasons 18 years ago whilst describing a record of 19 trophies across 2 decades does not qualify as such. The broad point holds and others have agreed. Its not incessant, its desperate. You then googling their record and achievements and insinuating you havent is a bit sad, no?
  6. No you couldn't wait to google a point i just said i couldn't remember about you sad sack . I didn't emphasise the point, just highlighting Van Gaal main achievements were at massive clubs with the best teams in the league at the time as the idea is that Pardew could have probably done quite well with Bayern in 2009. Which is a point i am only making to annoy you tbf.
  7. I mentioned i had dinner in last week with 3 Republicans (from New Jersey as it happens). All 3 of them are Senior Director or higher in a massive corporation, highly educated post-grads with strong business / leadership and inter-personal skills. To quote 'the democrats love the world's problems, they complain about them all the time but they wouldnt exist if the world didnt have problems' 'Nothing wrong with the 1% having all the money, everyone else just expects the state to hand out money' '50 million people in this country are handed out food stamps thanks to Obama' 'Everyone who has ever opposed the Clinton's winds up dead, they are the most dangerous couple in America' They all support Trump. I started quoting Picketty and discussing the role of the aristocracy in europeans not treating the current distribution of income as a given.
  8. Luis Figo, Rivaldo, Kluivert etc at Barcelona. Morientes etc at RM. In the first season he wins La Liga at Barcelona, they are miles ahead of RM and i think Van Gaal didnt lost against them in 2 seasons there. Figo goes to RM from Barcelona in 2000 at start of the galacticos period. The 3rd season when he left (2000), he lost the title to Deportivo. He left due to clashes with Rivaldo and criticism of his playing style. Yet he is lauded as a great. I reckon i could have done a job with them in that league with those players. He had the best team and he won a non-competitive league. So what imo.
  9. Of his 19 managerial title, 18 are with the best clubs in the country and 1 in a shitty Dutch league where even McClaren did well.
  10. Or maybe his reputation is built on the fact that he manged Ajax when they were the best Dutch side and won everything anyway, Barcelona and Bayern in not very competitive leagues. He's not exactly been managed miracles by winning at those clubs. I cant remember whether RM were any good when he was there but its not exactly a massive achievement to win things domestically with those three clubs when he did. I mean if you put Pardew in charge of Bayern in the 09-10 season, would he have been able to beat Schalke to the title?

  12. You spend all day on Redditt which is what? Random links to vaguely relevant stories.
  13. Indeed. Its also true that those clubs spending money on players also spend money on managers and attract the best ones. Van Gaal is doing his best to disprove the idea too.
  14. I got grief for saying that too. His time was at an end and it was best for everyone he moved on. The only flaw in the thinking was that the arsehole in charge was still in charge. I read recently that a statistical analysis had shown that 89% of a football club's position in the league could be explained by money and 11% by manager. The authors admit that the analysis was a bit fishy and there were loads of factors getting mixed up. Anyway, i think we can safely say we have proven that analysis wrong this season.
  15. Not sure we'll see Renton there but some of you fairies might enjoy this. http://www.avfestival.co.uk/programme/2016?category=all
  16. I'm the least praising on that page, Stevie is giving him 9 out of 10. That's not when the debate alex is trying to drag up occurred, the debate Alex wants to refer back to was when we sacked Pardew and the the assessment was consistently from me 'average at best' and the reason why he wants to bring it up all the time is because our form has not improved so sacking Pardew wasn't the solution. The reason why it hurts Alex so much is because my view was based on a superior assessment of the qualities of our incumbent players. He thought they were amazing and it was just Pardew holding them back. This is where we disagreed and their form since he left has proven me right. I was right about James Perch and I'm right about this and no amount of triple smiley posts will get past that.
  17. The first part of the album is amazing, the second half is a bit shit.
  18. "Colt 45, bang bang ladies" as you'd say.
  19. He made a joke about a cock puppet hence 'looking like a cock'. This is what noncing does to people tbf.
  20. I never said Pardew was a good manager but Dave, lets be fair here, you've looked like a cock on many an occasion.
