To be fair to CT, being in opposition is easy. Its easy to knock holes in all aspects of policy, which is why belief in politicians is so important.

The solution proposed across the G20 is to cut spending. This could give us a second recession which would further push down tax receipts and increase benefits. The recession didnt cause the defecit only make it worse. It was a well known policy to hope that growth will shrink the defecit but you can not just wait and hope while the oustanding debt continues to increase. You get to a tipping point where the interest payments along are such a huge burden that you can no longer do all the good things that governments should be doing with that money (as is the case now). Labour predicted 3% growth for next year prior to the election however it now looks that those figures where way to optimistic so once again the debt rises. The other problem to this plan is that you hope during the good years when the defecit is good, governments would use that money to reduce the overall debt. But what happens, tax cuts and massive public spending. The recession caused the deficit to affect long term lending rates from the bond market. Which is why its an issue. The recession is the issue which is why i quoted the data in the Independent article from february. A deficit is an indicator of the viability of the governments overall debt. It is not an endpoint in itself, thats the debt. The deficit is a marker for the lenders to understand the price they need to charge to allow governments to raise more capital since it is a marker for risk. My point, which you either didn't get or ignored, is that there is a growing body of evidence to suggest that expansionary public spending has a much higher than normal multiplier effect when the real interest rate is near the zero bound. Our only hope is that Clegg's presence will temper the instincts of the tories. Certainly not ignored and I'll not pretend to understand the rest of that sentence either But I may google it. Start here. http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/05/24/oy-macro/

Its funny because the lastest Keynesian models predict that the most effective expansionary policy, when interest rates are effectively zero, is increased government spending. Arguably the situation we are in now. The deficit hawks say to cut spending and encourage the banks to lend. The banks still arent lending but they are cutting anyway. The new Keynesians say http://economistsview.typepad.com/economis...zero-bound.html Its the recession that caused the deficit anyway CT, so the solution is an economic recovery. We shrank by 6%, so we need to grow by 3% for 2 years to be nearly back to where we were on tax revenues (with a debt built up whilst returning to even). http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business...ce-1904129.html The solution proposed across the G20 is to cut spending. Israel continues its merciless pounding of the defenceless.

If 40 jihadists were onboard that boat intent on killing Israeli soldiers, then there would have been an israeli fatality. They would have fought the attacking soldiers with a minor semblance of skill and would have been able to take out a few of them, if that's what they intended. The Israeli's lies are a testament to their zionistic passion. -
I like the main thrust of your point. ....this isn't helping, right? In all honesty, I find that sort of thing pretty tedious and tend not to spend time with gays of the "oo, get her!" variety, so I suppose it's hard for me to judge. The fact that people are generally surprised to discover I'm gay suggests the camp 'n' screaming stereotype is fairly ingrained even in the most open-minded of people (myself included, frankly!), but whether that's just the way it is or it's perpetuated by überfags being überfaggy? Difficult to say. Either way, for all I play up that kind of thing for laughs on here sometimes, I'd hate to think I was defined by my sexuality. There's more to life. Eurovision and lovely pink cocktails, for a start! (Still not helping, right?) I don't think you are defined by your sexuality on here at all. You are though.

I have wifi issues with my iPhone if I join another wireless network, it then kicks me out of wifi at home for no reason. Not noticed it yet on this. It definitely works as a home device so I can only imagine it's excellent as a travelling device. The photo viewer is really good, better than the MacBook. I already prefer browsing on it for the comfort but not really got used to typing on it yet. The highlight for me so far is the Wired iPad app. Really nicely done.

Capello said his mind hadnt change on his 23 after the match, so am not sure he has a big problem with selection for the squad. That probably means the performances of Bent, Huddlestone (+Walcott?) didnt change his mind. I think he will take an injured Barry and hope to have him in the knock-outs. Joe Cole may have cemented a place with his second half today.

On it now, this site is very fast and typing is a pleasure. Can't get iTunes LPs to sync yet, presumably that's possible. 4 out of 5 for me so far.

Money would be better spent buying her, her own porn collection which you'll need to vet from time to time. On the contrary, will be easier to manage my own collection I just hope its baby-proof.

Getting one for our lass today. Will report in later.

If anyone is out tomorrow night, check out Trafik at the Star and Shadow Cinema on Stepney Bank. 8.30pm. Saw them do their soundsystem at the Ministry of Sound a couple of weeks back but this is a 5-piece band with proper instruments and that. Should be good, if you like that sort of thing.

Seems to be weak as piss to me, if you can still lose £20m a season and it doesn't matter what your overall debt is. Better than nowt though?
