Have a read of that science journal. There are open questions left in this world - Alan Pardew being another one.

Thats all i said - that they point to the lack of a full narrative. Renton thinks that pyramids were the only way to build large structures and therefore they dont. I would argue that because they have precision engineering in them that requires complex astronomical understanding, this upsets the normal way we tell human history. http://www.americanscientist.org/issues/pub/2004/9/astronomy-and-the-great-pyramid/3

Just to be clear here, the proposal that ancient architecture proposes some gaps in our historical understanding has not been addressed by someone filling in those gaps, just stupid posts and someone claiming it was the only way to build something tall so no wonder everyone thought of it. Fucking amazing back up to the sneering orthodoxy.

Its utter rubbish. What technological advance are you referring to which was not available at the time of the pyramid but is available at the time of the Colossus of Rhodes for example. Am not sure you can argue that technology changes that much by the time you have Christian cathedrals. There are no engines, just ropes and pulleys and stones.

Thats not how Wikipedia works. Here, try this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PD-L1

How quaint to think like that about Wikipedia. Its a nice overview of the hypothesis, balanced by those who disagree. Certainly demonstrates that the age is up for debate.

The pyramid of Durham Cathedral is so impressive.

What utter shite. Until the invention of the combustion engine in the early dark ages meant we could build horizontal castles? Fuck off.

Older than the prevailing narrative says it is. And 'evidence' is just information that supports a theory, so yes there is 'evidence'. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphinx_water_erosion_hypothesis#cite_note-Coxill_.281998.29-16

That gap doesn't require a conspiracy to fill it, just history or explanation that we don't have. I've also read Bauval - the water weathering on the Sphinx is worth investigation and is backed up by mainstream geology. Another gap.
-
I think they do highlight uncertainties. How did 4 separate cultures with no communication between them (the prevailing historical narrative) come up with building Pyramids independently of each other? There are gaps in our understanding and their very presence as monuments on earth flag those gaps.

I think The Fish looks like the most out of step to reality in this thread. "You're just seeing patterns that arent there". No, they are large buildings, not patterns.

The mathematical proportions of the Great Pyramid can be related in many ways to the proportions of the earth, around the circumference, the equator, the latitudinal circumference of the earth etc. This makes sense actually based on traditional mythology. Historical understanding says that it is a representation of the earth and they built it in alignment with many of earth's features. The same geometry can be seen in Angkor Wat and Teotihuacan. But doesnt matter about the geometry. We have pyramids all over the planet which have never been connected by any historical narrative. Meaning we are clueless. I think the pyramids are great because they gently nibble at the certainties of traditional human histories.

I actually worked on a butcher's stall in Blyth market on a saturday when i was about 16. Lasted a month. Had to shout out the deals on the meat to passing biddys. -
Obviously very commercial (adverts, charts etc) but this never fails to get me going.

You were a dodgy butcher? -
Working in Vienna this weekend and it's the Wiesen Fest. Football and Rugby on Saturday night then got to be somewhere at 8am on Sunday. Could be messy.

When did Baggio come back? Good to see a more diverse ethnic mix on here.

With the Express and Mail leading the press with the story and the whole thing coming from within the party, its obviously a pre-meditated take down of Cameron so that Osbourne can step in. Can you imagine the planning meetings? I hope Corbyn stands up at PMQ's and says "this week i received over 1000 questions on this topic, this question comes from a young lady called Daisy who lives in Rattlerow farms in Norfolk. She says "oink oink oink oink, oink oink, oink oink oink?" Then makes a squeeling noise and sits down.
