  1. They should name a Kebab after her.
  2. Insofar as people are less able to "get on their bike" and find work where there's work to be had? That was the general idea. Compared the mobility of the american workforce post the great depression to today and said the irony is that homeownership not only caused the crisis but will exacerbate its length as people are tied to their location. Espeically if they are in negative equity. In other news The Economist revealed that white is in fact white.
  3. Expand on that please.. Tabloids had nowt good to say about them until they were dead/dying. We should get a decent write up at the end of the season then.

  5. Speaking of the property ladder, was reading some article in The Economist last night saying that the relatively large increase in homeownership in the US, UK and interestingly Spain will hinder the labour market dynamics which are critical to recovery from deep structural recessions.
  6. Its actually a 'rusty' trombone.
  7. Agree with the sentiments.
  8. Reminds me of the time Parky saw V for Vendetta.
  9. True but the fact that you've now read it makes it all worhwhile.
  10. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I have never heard such ridiculous conspiracy tripe in my life. If anything the media are biased against Spurs. We don't fit into the category of top four darlings or plucky underdogs. At least you have the "best fans in the world" myth that Sky like to propagate. I can think of at least two occasions in the last couple of years when the commentators on Sky Sports have openly displayed displeasure when we have scored in the dying moments. Andy Gray against West Ham in the 4-3 game and when Pav scored the goal that took us into the CC final against Burnley. Keep your kippah on, just relaying what a friend said to me.
  11. Until Chessy sells them for a tidy profit anyway (flying in the face of the MRC, Nuffield council for Bioethics, the EU and Fop). You're strange. I bring up the MRC's role in protecting the public interest from exploitation as a counter-weight to your exaggerated concerns and somehow thats played back to me as some sort of argument against some undefined position i'm meant to be adopting. Glad to have been of service to you anyway making you aware of the relevant organisations. FYI, i reviewed research proposals for the Wellcome Trust between 1999 and 2003 on a voluntary basis, one of which was about maximising the public health benefits from the database. None of these concerns are new. A simple "sorry Fop I was utterly wrong" would have done. The baby was guilty anyway.
  12. Sky Sports is run by a Spurs fan and according to a mate who worked there for 7 years, he only appoints other Spurs fans to senior positions. Not saying it translates into editorial policy but at least confirms the view they're all twats.

  14. Interesting story http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/mar/1...ban-afghanistan
  15. That may be shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted though, which is why I think we need to act pre-emptively on matters such as this. I should clarify at the moment I'm not concerned, but only because people can see that there are genuine potential ethical problems involved, and I have faith at the moment these issues will be respected. But the situation of genotyping individuals needs to be constantly monitored or we could slip into a very unfair future. Which is why the MRC has taken on that role 3 years before the final human genome sequence was published in 2000. I have faith in these people too, genuine physicians and medical ethicists who understand the balance between public health needs and bio-ethical considerations. Any idea what the DVLA has got to do with this debate by the way?
  16. What happened? DNA data was retained? So? It wasnt exploited. Thats my point, its just data being held somewhere, in a file doing nothing to anyone. Come back when our healthcare premiums are allocated on whether you are wild-type KRAS and i'll agree there might be an issue.
  17. Hysteria in this case being defined as 'shitting yourself over stuff you imagine might happen'.
  18. Not convinced. When i see an example of it being abused to make profit or for some dastardly end then i'll agree with yous. Since when have we been free anyway? Since we got the vote a hundred or so years ago? We've always been subjugated (to God, to an overlord) in some form or another. People want life to be ordered, people dont like meaningless violence, injusice, crime etc, so they dont want anarchy. In that case, dont expect freedom....
  19. DNA is just data, nothing more. We keep a birth record of all babies, we should stick their DNA in there too imo.
  20. Anyone feel less free since 1997? I dont.
  21. Is the right answer. In any other walk of life, dis-service to the level that they've provided would result in a full refund. Their kegs are obviously filling with shite at the realisation that we more than likely are not re-investing to watch the same garbage next season. Rather than pleading with us, how about listening and getting the fuck out? No it wouldnt. The price of a ticket guarantees you a seat in the stadium to watch a football match in a safe environment. Nothing more. Yeah I know that - I was just expanding somewhat and comparing it perhaps to having a meal in a restaurant... You're a picky sod at times Adam....... but you're right He's not man. If I subscribed to a great full colour glossy magazine like Sight and Sound, and after 2 months they start sending me greasy old black and white clippings from Paul Ross in the NOTW I'd cancel my DD and demand restitution. I am right. Just because the team is shit and get relegated doesnt mean you can claim a refund If you say that none of the big 4 have a 'realistic' chance of being relegated then 'a priori' there is just less than a 1 in 5 chance of any club going down when you buy a season ticket (or 3 out of 16). The ticket doesnt come with a quality guarantee. I'm not talking about being relegated, or the quality of football on display. I'm talking about being told I was making a massive saving by paying in advance and being told that was the ONLY way to secure a saving....which is now available to everyone. The benefits they advertised in selling me a ticket no longer exist. Sorry i was going off your analogy of product quality. Feel free to have another go.
