Charles N'zogbia keen on a move back to NUFC
Christmas Tree replied to jamie_gordon's topic in Newcastle Forum
You should try watching other clubs, like Wigan. Mate, I've seen him playing for Wigan. He only looks decent because the rest of them are so fucking atrocious. And if he's improved that much from when he was with us, (and he was basically very average), why is the transfer figures being mentioned almost what we sold him for? Even Milner (another useless tool in my opinion) has had his value go up significantly when he's switched clubs. I dont totally disagree with you on either Zog or Milner however as Ive stated on the N'zogbia, the potential was definitely there at some point before it all went pete tong. Like most, I have only seen glimpses of him on MOTD where he has looked decent. And....he is only 24 and prem ready. -

as for that first line - bullshit. You only have to look at Shearer's rapid decline [after Bellamy & Robert's forced exits] for evidence. Some players' contributions are too valuable to the overall picture ie. team structure, pattern of play etc. Successful clubs with mainstay managers build around such players, up to the point when there is a need for generational change within the squad. As for Pardew's wholesale remodeling the squad, it's a forced option layed on him by a board that places a higher value on the balance sheets and value short-term cash windfalls, rather than actually building a footballing legacy. Pardew's replacement will be faced with the same impossible task. Pardew is just another fallguy, as were Mcfaul, Smith etc were two decades earlier. Psst......Nobodys left. -

I wouldn't argue with that, but he can't be judged if he isn't given the tools to do the job properly. Dont agree. Pardew has no excuse of anything not being like the brochure. It was very clear what and who he was taking on. As for support from the board, that cant really be judged until everyone has been counted in and out at the close of the window. he will be expected to put together a good side for peanuts, and people like you will still be talking of us "buying top players and behaving like a big club" when we are now behaving like a small club. So its impossible for him to succeed in terms of seeing NUFC as a big club. Staying in the premiership may be OK for the likes of Ashley, Dekka and you, but the vast majority of people will in the end start giving him grief but he is trying to do what will be an impossible job. His hands are tied, they are not and will not give him the tools. You know what I meant like I was trying to avoid giving you cause to roll out your same old, same old. Looking at the players we have reportedly gots bids on he has so far "spent" about 35 mill.......and the window isnt properly open yet! Me and you both know that whatever happens this transfer window will not be good enough for you. A lot of us will be quite happy to be making progress. -

I didnt say that though. The observations I read were discussing how Bartons influence while channelled positively is good, however a negative Barton could have an eroding influence. Anyone who thinks Bartons comments at talk ins, in the press and now via twitter are positive for NUFC or assisting his chances of staying at the club, are mad. I love Barton as has been evident over time on here but I certainly dont want a sulky, argumentative Barton hanging around. Needs addressing quickly. I would say Barton coming out and telling people how badly the club is being run is a good thing so turbospackers don't think they're doing well. The most vital part of this is that Barton is signed because no matter how many talented French midfielders you sign, there's no replacing leadership on the pitch. He doesn't sulk, he says what he wants (and he's always right about the club) and does the business on the pitch. Btw, on about sulking, don't you want N Zogbia back? Also, the barely hidden contempt Ashley and co have for the fans is a thousand times worse. First of all, Barton has told us nothing new. (I dont actually recall him saying anything bad about the club until AFTER his request for a 4/5 year deal was turned down in January) but dont let that get in the way of a bit of Ashley bashing In fairness to the club they have been great to Barton during his missing 3 years, however, its now looking like he has burned all his bridges and will not play for us again. Re Nzogbia. I remember thinking of him the way I think about Shane when I first saw him. It never quite worked for him first time around but lets not forget he was a very young lad, far from home, in a club in turmoil. The times I have seen him for Wigan he looks as though he is maturing into the player a lot us hoped he would become. I also think a good bunch of French speaking lads / friends around him would be of great benefit. I doubt there are many Newcastle fans who originally drooled at his early promise, unwilling to give him another chance. wrong. I'm always right. We should never have sold him. ???? which bit am I wrong about grasshopper.

"Was" being the operative word. ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY!!! I already said a few posts back that I thinks he's blown it and wont play for us again.

I wish. Had a late night and hit the sack after 1, up with the baby at 5.45. (And only a little over a week to go until I am daddy day care full time so I'll be able to contribute even more) And you thought it was going to be a quiet summer on Toontastic -

nobody is irreplaceable. All players that have a shelf life that runs out for many reasons be that fancying a change, money, home sickness, not liking the manager, not in the managers plans, not suited to the style of play etc etc. Its pretty clear a remodelling is going on and Pardew deserves the chance to carry it out and be judged accordingly. -

I think you'll find I was advocating / looking forward to another two years of Joey Barton.

He's over the moon with Cabaye coming in. Course he is

Also worth noting that this "possible" ITK referred to in the twitter thread is claiming the Gervinho deal was done last night

Could be, but he's been saying / hoping for that move to come off since 2008 so he might just have to give up on it. http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...&pid=478713 Also worth noting that one of the first mentions of him on Toontastic was in quotes taken from Tiotes first interview.
