Sorry to hear this Renton. It’s horrible. Is he still of fairly sound mind? If so, just go and listen to how he feels. It’s a lot harder for those left behind. I went through a similar scenario with my Dad where I wanted everything done to prolong life and in the end my mother decided enough was enough. She was right. No easy answers. My wife’s just come back from the shops with one of those organiser pockets that goes over the arm of the sofa to put remotes, glasses etc in. You know, the things that some really old people have. Its now in the bin, the lip is out and the atmosphere is tense. She knows she’s fucked up!!!!!

Sky News now picking up on the tweet @Gemmill shared the other day.

A few things I’ve been watching seem to state 2 things. 1. That they are not seeing anywhere near as many hospitalisations in SA as the last wave. However this could be down to the large amount of immunity built up in the previous wave. 2. The “Zoe” study that is run out of London and collates symptoms is recording quite a switch to mainly cold symptoms being reported. Again this is hopefully due to the vaccines / booster limiting the disease. I know government has to look at the bigger effects than just the health effects of the pandemic, but due to the looming effects there is going to be on NHS staff due to having to self isolate, I think a lockdown needs to happen to give them a chance. As Schools are already off and the public seem to be avoiding hospitality of their own accord, I can’t really see much point in delaying it.

All depends how the older ones feel. At 100, how many xmases has someone got left? She might have the view of Im making the most of my time left. Seems she’s already taken the decision to mix. If the family’s general view is caution then I wouldn’t go near.

Look forward to the 2 kids = 2 separate 25 minute phone calls from test and trace! Are you making any attempt at isolating from them or just accepting you’re both probably going to get it.
