  1. If it wasn't for the woodwork it would have been. We just have to hope results go our way.
  2. I would start with Guthrie ahead of Butt.......

    4-3-3

He did have a few wayward passes but we didn't have a shot on goal until he came on. And his crossing was far better than what Raylor has produced. With regards the 433 formation - I think the difference between last night and when Keegan played the it was: a.) Confidence - we have none; it's shattered. b.) Viduka/Martins are not fully fit and it showed c.) Owen is in the worst form of his life d.) Butt - no longer the player he was. e.) We've no left back......you need wings backs to make the formation work. f.) things I've forgotten.
  4. Wow......not easy just to pick three. Bar Beye/Bassong/Guthrie I think the whole squad has been a pretty awful buy. All came with reputations but never once have they come close to showing their potential. Owen, Duff, Butt, Colli, Jonas, Martins, Xisco, Enrique, Barton, Geremi, Smith, Nolan, Raylor...there is not one player out of that lot that you could say was a good buy.
  5. I think we've nothing to loose by throwing Ranger on, Owen just isn't doing the business and there are only so many games you can keep faith with him.
  6. There was no urgency, players were stagnant, and it was just long ball after long ball. You're not going to win an aerial battle with Campbell and Distin. There were just no ideas.
  7. What match were you watching? Were you there? Butt was woeful.....passing poor, slow, miss timing tackles and movement none existent. Our worst player on the pitch by a country mile. I have to agree. Aside from one or two decent tackles he was a fucking liability once again. Thank you.
  8. What match were you watching? Were you there? Butt was woeful.....passing poor, slow, miss timing tackles and movement none existent. Our worst player on the pitch by a country mile. Erm WERE YOU THERE? Butt the worst player on the pitch fucking joker man. Yes I was......and he was awful. Ask any of the 50,000 who were there.
  9. The bottle had just gone - we were all over the place and so nearly lost the match.
  10. What match were you watching? Were you there? Butt was woeful.....passing poor, slow, miss timing tackles and movement none existent. Our worst player on the pitch by a country mile.
  11. It'll suit our passing game. Main problem for me tonight is that after picking up some points lately a draw is a canny result for Portsmouth tonight. I think they'll sit back and we'll struggle to break them down. Hope I'm wrong but I fancy a draw tonight. Everytime it rains I think of the deluge at St James when Sunderland beat us 2:1 (Shearer was on the bench).
  12. It's great to see him scoring goals again. Class is permanent.
  13. Shame it's not a full house - loads of tickets still available.
  14. Guthrie has to start ahead of Butt; imo he's our best Midfielder.
  15. Tough game tonight; Pompey have been playing ok of late. We're really going to have to up our game to get a result.

I agree.....Messi is heading to be an all time great.
  17. I think I've come to terms with the fact we're going down.....just everything seems to be conspiring againsts us, the lastest being Martins injury. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/ap...legation-battle
  18. That is the issue.....no pace, no creativity, no nothing.
  19. I don't know much about this lad........is he quick?
  20. Quote from Mick Martin tonight, when he asked Al about next season he got a simple straight answer of "I dont want it". I still recon he'll be our manager.
  21. If only we'd signed Arshavin before the Euro's...........*sigh*
  22. He was way too casual tracking back. Just let Bent jog passed him to tap in the goal.
