Toon join Rat raceMar 25 2007 By Neil Farrington, The Sunday Sun Newcastle are eyeing boys from Brazil - and hunting a Rat - as they draw up their summer spending plans. United boss Glenn Roeder has revealed the Magpies scouted players from SIX countries on international duty yesterday. And Brazil were among them. While Roeder watched Portugal play Belgium, Newcastle were also watching would-be buys in action for Holland, Romania, Chile and Brazil. And Romanian left-back Razvan Rat has emerged as a potential United target. Roeder went to Lisbon after telling the Sunday Sun that he has an interest in players on both sides. But he also revealed: "We're also out to see Holland and Romania. There are targets in those two teams. "And (chief scout) David Mills is off to see Brazil and Chile. There are one or two targets in those two teams." Roeder took in the Portugal game having already had midfielder Joao Moutinho, wingers Nani and Simao and defender Marco Caneira watched in Sporting Lisbon's defeat of Porto last Saturday. Newcastle scouts have been busy in Portugal for weeks, watching Benfica's right-back Nelson and their Brazilian centre-back Luisao several times. United's interest in the Holland side was focused on left-back Urby Emanuelson and strikers Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Ryan Babel - all confirmed Roeder targets. But 25-year-old Rat, currently with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, would be a cheaper left-back option.

I'm sure he'd leave Valencia for us... Same thing was said about Michael Owen... Except Michael Owen wasn't wanted by Real Madrid as they had just purchased Baptista and Robinho. Miguel on the other hand is Valencia's first choice right back.

I think it's more likely that Terry Mac has spotted Vanden Borre as a player with potential from playing football manager and Glen went out to have a look at the lad.

Especially when you consider he didn't bring up it had been changed until his 4th post in the thread. It must of took him 4 hours to make up that excuse.

I'm banned from there. Any decent quotes? "the fools have now fojnd an old post of mine about Souness and altered it. Wankers all round it seems......wish I was so desperate and sad to go to such lengths ...." "The funniest thing is that the idiots don't realise I've been taking the piss out of them for ages...or some of them anyway. Baggio especially, almost definitely danced when I got him going " He's also started an account that's supposed to be me saying "I am here to bring my knowledge of Newcastle to this forum and to tell you that anybody who plans will be successful, and that we my idol Fat Fred should have kept Souness because he had a plan to rid the club of troublemakers and just like Alex Ferguson it was a plan and would have brought us success." I think he's gone over the edge.

That Tamuz looks a dangerous striker for an 18 year old.

Gerrard is on the right, Lampard is in the middle with Hargreaves.

Any Admin know if he's been on anonymous?

If anything Owen's injury would have been an eye opener to how short his footballing career actually is, I doubt he'll want to waste the rest of it here.
-
If he wasn't such a greedy bastard he would never of left in the first place. Hard luck.

Anyone know how good Andy Carroll is from watching the reserves? If he looks like he has potential to step up and take Sibierski's place as 4th/5th choice striker then I'd let him go to Wigan as he isn't good enough for a 2 year contract. I wouldn't blame Sibi if he does leave either.
