  1. One player on his own isn't relevant but when you add him to Ba, Krul, Coloccini, Tiote and Cabaye it is exciting times, don't you agree? My reply to your point about Wise is the same as it was the other day when you asked, what I've always said is that the club needs a solid scouting network that is the clubs rather than the managers, the reason for this is that if the manager leaves the foundations for the network are still here and will remain here, unlike the time when we sacked everyone and were left with Roeder attempting to scout a player that had already agreed to sign for someone else while trying to get the team ready for the season to start. I never once said it would be a guaranteed success, that's you making things up and accusing people of saying them. What I did say was managing a football club from top to bottom is too much now for just one man and the days of the manager training, scouting, negotiating contracts is over apart from maybe Man Utd but that is down to how long Ferguson has been in the job, you can bet his replacement won't get that freedom. One thing I've always said is that the manager should have the final say on what players come in to the club, to which your reply at the time was that it would make the DOF nothing more than a glorified scout, that maybe the case as we're seeing with Graham Carr now but I'm very happy with the current set up of having Carr being independent from Pardew. I've been banned from Newcastle online so I won't be going back, similar to CT I upset a few of the Ben Arfa fan boys by questioning his ability to play in a number 10 role for us and little Dave too for saying he was a Leeds fan when he was at school. and you accuse me of fudging Wait until all those players are sold, before you open your mouth, if I were you. That goes for the others too. Fudging what exactly? By the way does it matter if players are sold as long as we bring in equal or better players in to replace them and we keep pushing forward? It's something Arsenal did for years successfully, were they in fact taking the wrong approach too?

  3. Tell you what Baggy, why don't you admit that you thought the DOF setup headed by Wise would bring automatic success, simply on the basis of being a DOF setup, and was superior to the management setup headed by Keegan ? Then when you have done that, tell us that you also thought that the same system employed by Spurs would also do the same under Ramos before Redknapp ditched it. Then tell us why you have appeared back on here with your tail firmly between your legs ? My view is the same as always. The league positions we achieved from 1992 - 2007 will never be matched by the current owner, or anybody else who comes in and sells our best players and adopts a sell and replace policy. You see you can't even answer what I've asked you as it would hurt you so much to admit on first appearances he looks like a good player, absolutely pathetic. I've always answered your questions in the past by the way, even though it's often a waste of time as you ignore the answers and refer back to your Leazes post generator. One last try Leazes, what did you think of CIsse on his debut?
  4. It's definitely a case of moving the goal posts with the quotes posted, same as he's happy to lump Shepherd in with Sir John Hall now which I something he never used to do to try and add more weight to his argument. I think whoever said in the other thread that he doesn't get any joy from the club winning and would rather be right on the internet had it bang on too. (This is where you tell me how long you've signed up to a season ticket for:wink:) You never did tell us what you thought of Cisse on his debut either Leazes, want to have a go now or does it hurt you to admit on first impressions he looks a very good player?
  5. Personally I don't think there's been enough effort put in to bringing through the youngsters, it's been clear since his loan spell at Bolton that Sturridge was capable of going to the top yet Capello would happily stick Gerrard up there if he had too. Too much of an old boys club atmosphere going on.
  6. To be honest I'd fancy our chances at home against anyone if we've got Tiote and Cabaye back however Arsenal are like us, unpredictable on the road. Hopefully a draw when they go there this weekend.
  7. Have to admit I'm slightly worried about Sunderland having a good cup run and messing up the 7th place qualifying position.
  8. It did create a pot of about £40 million that went into the clubs account iirc.

    The Ceasefire

It just shows they value the opinion of Ben Arfa fans rather than knowledgeable Newcastle fans, people that don't care if we win if HBA isn't playing.
  10. Does a stepover and gives the ball away more like. Couldn't care less how many times he does that, created more chances, got more assists, and scored more goals playing on the wrong side and half the playing time of obertan. to sum Obertan up, his goal the other night clean through 30yards of space between him and anyone other than the keeper...I'm fairly certain everyone had it in the back of their heads he was probably going to fuck it up, but if it was HBA the doubt would've been considerably less I care how many times he loses it because it means we're losing possession which gives the opposition more chance to attack, in fact I can't remember a player for us ever losing possession as much as he did against Brighton in the first half, he was terrible. Not that I rate Obertan much either but I've made my feelings known that I think Ben Arfa has said he doesn't want to play on the right to Pardew, which is why he's behind him , Taylor and Sammi Ameobi in the pecking order.

How about him getting spanked for 8 months continuously? It worked for Ned Flanders.

  13. He's got no chance of starting up top while Ba and Cisse are fit. Not too bothered if he leaves in the summer, it would be a good idea for the club to approach PSG and offer him as part of a deal for Sakho who's supposedly dropped out of favour.
  14. The reason we won't make him 'an offer he can't turn down' is because once you offer one player it then everyone else will expect the same when it comes to negotiating a new contract or signing a new player, I can remember when Taylor was negotiating a new deal and his dad was in the press saying there was players nowhere near the first team on a lot more money than him which goes some way to backing up that point. If we give Coloccini a huge contract then what do we offer Ba? Or Tiote? Cabaye? etc when there's run down because they will know what Colo is on and want parity with that and the club has done the hard work of cutting it in the first place to let it get out of control. The way to combat that is offer more incentive based contracts, like Spurs do.
  15. One of the articles published last night said the FA won't review the tackle as it was an 'on the ball' incident rather than an off the ball one.
  16. I thought this thread was bumped for how he was at fault for Keane's goal on Sunday. He's a class act the majority of the time so I hope he stays, finding a partner for him is going to be tough as he's neither great in the air or quick so he's going to need someone next to him that has both ideally. His reading of the game is top class though, my favourite centre half ever here.
  17. Pretty sure they sold Jones before they bought Gyan tbf. They've also still spent something like £50 million+ net in the last 5 years too. So that supports the approach, sell Jones for £8m, sign Gyan for £13m have a canny season. Sell Gyan without a replacement having sold Bent and Jones already, it goes to shit. Mclean has been O'Neils best player and he cost £350k. So i'm not daft enought o follow LM's line of thought that it's all about spending more than you pull in, but a clubs approach to transfers defines their whole outlook before a ball is kicked. What good will Ashley has built up goes out the window in the summer if he sells Colo, Tiote and Ba. They didn't sell Gyan, they loaned him out and loaned Bendtner in. Sunderland are in a similar position to Villa at the moment in that they've spent so much in recent years that it just wasn't a sustainable approach without an owner willing to throw money at every year, so they've had to wind it in as a club and attempt to be more sustainable. The problem for both clubs is that they don't have the scouting network we have to compensate while they downscale, so while we have still managed to improve our squad despite cutting the wage bill and making the club more sustainable they haven't, which is how we've managed to overtake both. Replacing Bent with Connor Wickham was ridiculous too.

  19. As I've said to you before, as far as I'm aware the rest of the cash for Carroll is still in the club as they never had any intention of spending it all at once, after all if the club isn't making a profit and they go and blow all of the Carroll cash in one window then what are they going to do for money the following windows? I didn't say Wise over Keegan at all, I said the club needs to employ a solid scouting network to take the pressure off the manager which the DOF role would have done, while he's not classed as a DOF Graham Carr has been brought in and has taken that pressure off Pardew, I also said the person brought in should be brought in by the club rather than the manager with the reason being when the manager leaves we're left with it still in place. If they won't sign a contract and they've got 12 months left then get rid and invest the money in a good replacement, nobody is irreplaceable no matter how high we rate them. I noticed you didn't answer the question about Cisse, any reason why you're avoiding it?
  20. Rather spend time worrying about them being sold rather than enjoying them while they're here tbh. an acceptance of them being sold ? If a huge offer comes in or they refuse to sign a new contract with 12 months left then they will be sold, I accept it and have no problem with it as long as they're replaced sufficiently which so far seems to be happening, don't you agree? It's strange that you seem to be moaning about us selling these best players yet have refused to give the club credit for scouting and buying them in the first place. Btw what did you think of Cisse yesterday?
  21. Rather spend time worrying about them being sold rather than enjoying them while they're here tbh.
  22. As I said in another thread I had a look at our remaining fixtures the other day and tried not to be too optimistic when making predictions, we ended up with 57 points. W5 - Wolves, Sunderland, Norwich, Bolton, Stoke. D3 - Villa, West Brom, Wigan. L7 - Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Swansea, Chelsea, Man City, Everton. Considering we've already beaten Villa and my pessimistic scoring only see's us picking up 2 points away from home for the rest of the season I can see us breaking the 60 point mark.
  23. Surely because they failed to build on their early season form? Which is why I said we've got 14 games to see how much we've progressed.
