  1. I can remember someone posting a link to a Celtic forum where they were claiming it was unfair on the fans that went down to give Shearer the late penalty. Betfair were taking bets on the game too so fans were kicking off on their forum too.
  2. Who's the favourite for the Wolves job? Warnock is in with a shout I reckon.
  3. I'd like to see Pardew stick him in at left back and move Santon to right back.
  4. Yet we only let in 12 goals in the 14 games he's played, he's of huge importance to the team keeping it's shape and without him sitting deep we're repeatedly being pulled apart in the middle when a team piles on the pressure. There's that too. But everyone says he'll be easy replaced in the summer. Just joining in Everyone says? That's alright then.
  5. I don't think there's much between either of them to be honest. Taylor had a good start to the season but the majority of it was with Tiote in front of him, Williamson looked solid enough too when Tiote was in the team when we only conceded 1 goal in 4 games, since he's been out we've played another 5 league games and conceded 11 goals.
  6. Taylor's hardly Vincent Kompany either to be fair, if you don't give the back four protection then they will get pulled apart.

  8. Played 25 Points 42 I didn't expect to get anything today but that was awful, Spurs are unbelievable on the counter attack yet we continued to play a high line, I think Coloccini has to take a large portion of the blame for that as he is the one that should be marshalling the back line. Something Pardew needs to look at in the summer is someone to come in and give Tiote competition (if he's still here OMG) as without him we seem incapable of keeping our shape, it leads to us getting overrun in the middle and struggling to keep any sort of possession. Today would have been more bearable if Henry didn't score in the last minute for Arsenal but there you go, at least we're likely to have Tiote and Cabaye back for the Wolves game.
  9. You would think with a CB as experienced as Coloccini we wouldn't keep getting dragged out so far. The Spurs long ball is going to kill us time after time.
  10. Fucking Sunderland man, you want them to do you a favour and they throw it away.
  11. Blackburn 3-0 up against QPR now.
  12. Wigan beating Bolton. Getting tight down there now with the bottom 5.
  13. Super ambitious QPR are now in the relegation zone. Poor Joey.
  14. Great result for us in the earlier game btw. Hopefully an Everton win and Arsenal to draw at Sunderland would see it being a great afternoon for us.
  15. Villa are a good example of why basing it solely on income isn't a good idea, for the extra they've brought in they made a loss of £38 million and £46 million the previous year, they also have a wage bill running at 88% of turnover which was some £30 million more than ours. It seems like it's sunk in for Lerner that this isn't sustainable so he's gone on a massive cost cutting exercise to try and get Villa back in line, which is why they sold Downing and Young and only replaced them with N'Zogbia, I also think they only bought Bent because they were looking like going down and while it kept them up it seems to have delayed the inevitable which is a huge shake up that is needed in their squad. Apparently Lerner hasn't been to Villa park all season either which is a shift from how he was to start with. Losing interest perhaps?
  16. Enrique, Bassong and Milner would all be in the starting 11. I think the majority of the bench would be made up of players sold.
  17. I felt sorry for Dalglish as the injury to Shearer ruined it for him, I still think he could have turned it around with time as he did sign some quality players for the club but from what I remember it was a fall out with Freddie Fletcher that finished him off.
  18. I wanted Robson replaced at the time as things had just gone stale, it wasn't not being happy with 5th but a case of seeing that we were slipping so making the change while we were still in a strong position, it was just the way we went about it that made a complete mess of the situation. Liverpool had the same problem with Houllier but to be fair to them they handled the situation well, they moved him on that summer despite finishing 4th and had his replacement lined up. It was a strange season, despite having a talented squad we just couldn't string a run of games together and only managed 3 wins away from home or something like that. Sacking Robson wasn't the mistake although the timing was terrible, employing his replacement was the mistake. EDIT - We won 2 games away from home and both of those were before October was finished.
  19. Sammi Ameobi reminds we of Danny Welbeck when he first came on the scene, I just hope he reach his potential here unlike his brother.
  20. Mucky Quinn's book was the last football book I read, worth a read if you want to hear about his life on the piss every day. I think it was Sir John Hall that phoned up during a pre match team talk and told him he will give him a crate of champaign for every goal he scored that day, he got 2 while another went down as an own goal and when he got back to the changing rooms they were waiting for him. Keegan was seething that SJH done it apparently.
  21. I just find him ideal in small doses, like his articles or blog for example. His style was not something I could spend a Sunday afternoon reading without getting bored put it that way.
  22. Cup tied for the final I think but still a good move for him.
  23. How is it a myth? Was Wenger wrong to sell Anelka and replace him with Henry for a fraction of the price? He's done it plenty of times, of course he's had a few that hasn't worked out but that's the same for every club, I'm sure we will have a few that don't work out too but currently for me this is the most successful spell we've had when it comes to recruiting players which is why it amazes me you dismiss it because we didn't spend a fortune on bringing them in. The club made it clear in the summer that it wouldn't spend all of the Carroll cash at once, which is why we had money in January to buy Cisse when you were convinced he'd pocketed it all. All clubs are having to spend what they can afford now due to the financial fair rules, the good news is we're in a far better position to do that now than we were 5 years ago, that is without doubt in my opinion.
  24. Not a Billy Furious fan from reading his second one.
