  1. I take it, it has started for many? Its gone very quiet on here....
  2. Newcastle have invited Ersboda SK teenager Seif Kadhim for a third trial. The 15-year-old has made a positive impression on Newcastle's academy coaches during two trials earlier in the year and it is believed they want to take a final look at the winger before making a decision whether to offer him a contract. Kadhim admits he has been impressed with the facilities on offer at Newcastle and feels it could be too good an opportunity to pass up. "It is a big step, but maybe you only get one chance," Kadhim told Vasterbottens Folkblad. "It actually went really well. I played two matches and there were six players who were there for a trial. "Of us six, Newcastle just wanted me to come back. "They have got a terrific sporting complex with a great school and everything." Newcastle are the subject of takeover speculation, but the Belgravia Group have played down suggestions that a deal is imminent. A spokesman for the group said: "We have confirmed we are still in talks. It will happen when it happens."

  9. The Magpies are keen to add a striker to their squad during the New Year transfer window, with a relegation fight a very real possibility for Glenn Roeder’s struggling side. And reports suggest they will turn their attentions to Norwich City ace Earnshaw, although the 13-goal Championship striker is playing down speculation he is a wanted man. "I don't even think about the speculation," said Earnshaw. "I had a chat with the manager the other day and he said to me that he hoped clubs are knocking on his door about me as it means that I'm doing well. "All I'm concentrating on is playing well and scoring goals.”

  15. Portsmouth want Newcastle United centre-back Titus Bramble and will attempt to sign him in a cut-price deal when the transfer window re-opens in January. Bramble, who will miss tomorrow night's clash with Reading after he picked up a calf injury in the 0-0 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt, insisted in The Journal last week that he wants to remain in the North-East. But the powerful defender is out of contract in the summer and has still not been offered a new one by chairman Freddie Shepherd, prompting Portsmouth's attempt to prise him away from the Magpies. Bramble can start to negotiate a free transfer under the Bosman rule in the New Year if he has not been offered a new contract at Newcastle, although Portsmouth are believed to want to take him to the south coast immediately. Pompey will not make a bid for the 25-year-old until after Christmas, but manager Harry Redknapp has indicated he might be able to get the former England Under-21 international for less than £1m as Newcastle know they are in danger of losing him for nothing in seven months. That will not please Glenn Roeder, who cannot afford to lose any of his defenders during the transfer window and Newcastle's manager will urge Shepherd not to sell. Roeder has suggested in the past that he wants Bramble to sign a new contract, although he realises that if an extended deal is not offered, Bramble will be advised to look for a potentially lucrative Bosman move by his representatives. Ironically, Redknapp wants to pair Bramble with former England international Sol Campbell, a partnership which could have been formed at United if Roeder had followed up his interest in the 31-year-old in the summer. Campbell was keen on a move to Newcastle but, although Roeder was interested, he was concerned about the player's injury record and decided Chelsea's Robert Huth was a more attractive option. That, though, proved to be a costly decision when Huth decided to move to Middlesbrough and Roeder failed to add a centre-half to his squad. Like most observers, Redknapp believes Bramble has the natural ability to become a top Premiership defender and he hopes that, by pairing him with Campbell, the former Ipswich prospect - signed by Sir Bobby Robson for £5m - will move up a level. Like Bramble, Campbell was also prone to the odd concentration lapse when he was a youngster at Tottenham Hotspur, but he overcame that weakness with experience and went on to become a pivotal player for England in three major tournaments. It remains to be seen whether Bramble will be interested in a move to Fratton Park after he claimed last week that he is "desperate" to stay at Newcastle, but the prospect of playing alongside Campbell will surely be an attractive one. The in-form stopper will be missing from the United defence against Reading tomorrow and is also a doubt for the trip to Blackburn Rovers at the weekend. His close friend Kieron Dyer will also be unavailable for selection as he was told to rest for ten days by the specialist who stitched up the nasty cut in his leg after the Portsmouth match. Roeder said: "After their efforts lately, I gave the first-team squad the weekend off and Titus went back home to Ipswich. But overnight on Friday his calf blew up to twice its normal size and he did the sensible thing by coming straight back to Newcastle so that (physio) Derek Wright could have a look at it. And by doing so we are hoping that it will prevent Titus from being sidelined for too long." Bramble's injury has come at a bad time for Roeder, although the return of full-backs Stephen Carr and Celestine Babayaro mean he will be able to move Peter Ramage into the centre alongside Steven Taylor.
  16. Bollocks tbh as many from the piss ups have seen that I do not seem to have a problem with it..
  17. Glenn Roeder will face no boardroom interference in his hunt for new players during January. For while he may be keeping mum on takeover talk, United chairman Freddy Shepherd has rubbished suggestions that he has EVER taken over Newcastle's transfer policy. Shepherd has sanctioned spending worth around £250 million by five managers during his time in the top job at St James's Park. But among accusations thrown at him has been the claim that he has sometimes had too big a say on the club's transfer targets. "I don't interfere with transfers," blasted Shepherd. "It's ludicrous to suggest that I bring in the players or make signings without the manager being involved. "There is no way I have ever said to a manager: `There is Mr X: you've got him whether you like him or not'. "It would be absolute madness for anyone to do that. I know they do that on the Continent, but I don't think it would work in English football. "We got Patrick Kluivert because of Sir Bobby Robson's connections at Barcelona. Similarly, Albert Luque was Graeme Souness' deal, and we signed Obafemi Martins (left) because Glenn Roeder wanted him." Shepherd added: "I don't get involved in team selection, I don't hang around the training ground. "That's not what I am paid for and that is not my job. "We have spent £250 million on players since I have been on the board, so no one can ever accuse us of not backing our managers in the transfer market. "It also shouldn't be forgotten that we spent £15 million this summer on Damien Duff and Martins - which put us in the top six biggest spenders in the last transfer window. "We will do everything we can to help Glenn Roeder to get the additions HE wants for his squad in the January window - like we have done for all the managers since I have been here."
  18. I still don't drive but I do get chauffeur driven around in one of these by my other half.. And when the weather is good we manage to nab this off the in-laws
