Also with the exception of last year his injury record is pretty absymal and even this season he has struggled for fitness, this being one of the key reasons Celtic will not be held to ransom for funny money. Well they do not seem to be doing to badly without him this year as he has not played that much of a part this year and even when he has, including yesterday, he has contributed very little.
-
However he is another lightweight shortarse. What with Baba, Carr, Emre, Solano, Martins, Dyer, Owen and Duff we really could do with some height in the team. We really need two strikers coming in anyway, it's possible that Luque will be sold and Rossi not extending his loan which will leave us with Martins and Sibierski up top, you can add Dyer to that if he can maintain his fitness. Bringing in Maloney on the cheap would be smart business from us, as long as we still bring in someone else who is capable of holding the ball up up front. Whilst I agree, if he was to give us options up front, he has played most of his games over the last couple of years down the left flank.

Newcastle are considering challenging Sunderland and several other English rivals for Celtic star Shaun Maloney. The Scotland international is in a contract stand-off at Parkhead and will be free to talk to other clubs in the New Year. And with little prospect of Celtic agreeing to Maloney's estimated £20,000-a-week wage demands, the pressure will be on them to sell him in January. Maloney's ability to play up front, in the hole or out wide is highly rated by teams South of the border. "Shaun knows Newcastle are interested, as is Roy Keane at Sunderland," a source close to 23-year-old Maloney told the Sunday Sun. "There's been talk of Aston Villa coming in - probably due to Martin O'Neill knowing Shaun from his days at Celtic - but we've heard nothing about that." Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are the latest club to consider taking Newcastle's Albert Luque back to Spain in January. Injuries to Maxi and Martin Petrov have left Atletico short of attacking options and pondering signing Luque, if only on loan.

Official Match Thread: Arsenal Vs Newcastle United
Scottish Mag replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
Another fucking needless free kick from Taylor. How many fucking goals have we conceded from daft free kicks this season? As for Taylor, he has been shocking this season and far from the player some would have you believe is to be a future England player. -
Whoever said he is becoming like Comical Ali is spot on. Aye I'm sure the fact all this shares that Shepherd has have risen in price is such a bad thing...
-
true.. best thing to do is let them all go on their own and just say yes to whatever suggestions they make....much easier in the long run No cos they demand you take an interest. I just kept saying "I don't care where we get married because the important thing is I am marrying you (the wife) and nothing can make that a bad thing". Worked eventually. smooth talker... actually if it's anything like mine was the mothers will decide everything anyway and very little will be left up to you Bollocks to that, I am having a say in ours...
-
..not. I have a day planned of going to visit wedding venues ahead of me but the killing point is that my other half decided to invite along both mothers, jesus wept! Add to that what will no doubt be a terrible result against Arsenal and possibly even be rooted to the bottom of the table. Wish me luck

He was praising our performances against Watford and Man City yesterday, I could not believe what I was hearing. The bullshit he has been saying in recent weeks is now on a par with Souness.

Bastard, I was going to go bowling there today wish I had now. He is involved with the Soccer Circus there and I think he must spend quite a bit of time there as that is now quite a few people I have heard met him as of late. Me and the wife go snowboarding there. Hope I see him again then. Still love the little fucker. I have not been snowboarding yet, my soon to be bro-in-law and his mates go regularly however I am yet to give it a go, I stick to the ten pin bowling for the time being I`ll be going to hunt him down next time I am over and will be begging him to come back..

NEWCASTLE boss Glenn Roeder faces a defensive crisis ahead of Saturday’s crucial visit to Arsenal. Struggling Toon have just THREE fit defenders for their first visit to the Emirates Stadium. Celestine Babayaro has now been ruled out for around three weeks with a groin problem while Olivier Bernard has also suffered a setback. The French summer signing has picked up a hip injury while trying to regain his full fitness and looks set to be a long-term absentee. Titus Bramble (back) and Stephen Carr (toe) have also been sidelined recently meaning Roeder’s options are limited. That leaves him with just Peter Ramage, Steven Taylor and Craig Moore as the only three defenders with a clean bill of health. Boss Roeder said: “We will have to do without Babayaro for the next two or three weeks after he hurt his groin during extra time at Watford last Tuesday night. “Babayaro has been one of our most consistent players recently but he just cannot seem to retain his fitness and have a long run in our back four. “And Bernard has a hip injury. We cannot put a time on how long he will be out.” Turkish midfielder Emre is also suspended for the Arsenal trip after five bookings. Roeder had hoped his injury problems were beginning to clear up with Kieron Dyer, Obafemi Martins and Shay Given back in the frame. But the latest setbacks will not help his chances of lifting his side out of the bottom three. Meanwhile, Newcastle are puzzled by reports that Barcelona are targeting misfit striker Albert Luque. The 28-year-old, a £9.5million signing from Deportivo La Coruna, has endured a nightmare 14 months on Tyneside. Even in a striking crisis, Luque could not make the bench for Saturday’s goalless draw at Manchester City. Newcastle insist there has been no contact from any club, however there would be no surprise if Luque was offloaded in January. Luque said: “If I can help Barcelona, then perfect. They know what I can offer and to be able to help Barca would be brilliant for me.” French club Bordeaux also say they asked Newcastle about Luque. Chairman Jean-Louis Triaud said: “We asked for him last year but I don’t remember why the deal collapsed. “If our coach Ricardo asks me to, I will see if it is still possible to make him come to Bordeaux.”

Probably why he has a hip problem. Just ask Ameobi he trains everyday of his life and plays the games aswell and look at his 60 year old hips. Swinging more then a rusty gate to be honest. Having said that it shouldnt of taken this long to get Bernard fit to start an EPL match. Has Roeder got another enemy in the camp? Bernard was even taking part in pre season games with Sheffield United so muct have been close to match fitness at the end of the transfer window.

Nevermind Christmas Decorations, my work have had loads of people from the community in over the last couple of days recording a Christmas CD which will be our Card this year to be sent out to the local organisations etc. I think I am meant to be taking part soon, but they have two chances of me adding my vocals to it. None and fook all..

Newcastle United have been rocked by yet another injury setback when they were forced to rule left-back Celestine Babayaro out of their plans for the next couple of weeks. And no sooner had Glenn Roeder been informed of this than Babayaro was joined in the treatment room by Olivier Bernard, who has a hip problem. And this latest injury is going to make it all the more difficult for the French left-back to force his way into United's Premiership side before his contract runs out at the end of the season. But Babayaro's injury is the more immediate concern as he is currently the only senior recognised left-back on the club's books. And while Stephen Carr has not yet been ruled out of Saturday's trip to the Emirates Stadium, the Republic of Ireland right-back is struggling to make it because of the toe injury which saw him limp off at Manchester City on Saturday. No wonder Roeder watched anxiously as Craig Moore played for Australia in last night's 1-1 draw with Ghana at Loftus Road. And he is hoping to at least have Titus Bramble return to his defence with the former England Under-21 international having been sidelined with a back injury. The United boss told me today: "We will have to do without Celestine Babayaro for the next two or three weeks after he hurt his groin in extra time at Watford last Tuesday night. "And Olly Bernard has a hip injury, which is different to the one Shola Ameobi has but at the moment we cannot put a time on how long he will be out." Unlike his predecessor Graeme Souness, Roeder has got Babayaro turning in decent enough performances whenever United can get him on to the field. The United boss added: "Babayaro has been one of our most consistent players recently but he just cannot seem to retain his fitness and have a long run in our back four." As far as Bernard is concerned, United admit they have struggled to get him back to the level of fitness required in the Premiership and it is looking increasingly likely that his return to St James' Park is not going to work out for the amiable Frenchman.
