Taking a team that had finished 5th in the league and got to a European semi final to a team playing some of the most shite football seen at St James Park in recent year, finishing not a kick in the arse off a relegation battle and having another shocking start to this year is not acceptable for me..

I said the same thing about 4 months ago and people laughed, Burley is clearly a great coach who can get players to play better. 34934 Serious question, what's his record in the Premiership? 35019 Two seasons, got into Europe once got relegated in the other? Also, what's his record with so-called big clubs? 35022 Dr Joseph Venglos won the SPL didn't he? He might be worth getting 35024 With the exception of a poor spell at Aston Villa back in the early 90s, Dr Jo has had a reasonably successful career in football.

Commentator - "Jenas...who just cannot get into this game at all..." Sounds familiar.

Blackburn v Newcastle Newcastle boss Graeme Souness says he can handle the mounting speculation over his future but blames injuries for his side's poor Premiership start. Souness, whose side have scored just one league goal and have yet to win, faces former club Blackburn on Sunday. He said: "Newcastle are a big club with big expectations, but I only want to be judged when I can get all my players on the pitch. "It's been a disappointing start but injuries are killing us at the moment." Speculation is increasing in the media that Souness could become the first Premiership managerial casualty of the season if Newcastle fail to improve in the next few weeks. "I'm a big boy and I've been around the block a few times," added Souness, who could be up against former Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy at Ewood Park on Sunday. "I know that criticism comes with the territory in this job - that's the price on the ticket. "I haven't been able to put out my strongest team as yet because of all our injury problems. "We've made some good signings this summer but we haven't been able to put them all out on the pitch at the same time, and that will be the case again on Sunday." Newcastle, who have Emre, Keiron Dyer, Albert Luque and Nolberto Solano all injured and Scott Parker suspended, have only scored one goal in the Premiership this season. Souness will be looking to record new signing Michael Owen to rectify that and pull the club up the table.

I dont doubt that was FFs intention but i do believe he will not let Souness continue unless we pick up points soon. Still think Roeder could end up as caretaker...

My company offered me 3 grand to get people on our grad scheme but I wouldn't inflict it on anyone. I've been at my Aunties writing her dissertation for her. 34392 Whats the dissertation on? and what company do you work for?

I`m enjoying a glass of white wine whilst looking at different graduate schemes... Its not really helping that i really don`t want to go to London anymore.

bump...

Wouldn`t even have to be losses IMO. Even with a couple of draws to see us that far down the table after 7 games even Freddy will know its time to go for Souness..

Sorry but that is b*llocks. HE had Henrik Larsson who was 5 foot nowt for his most productive time there. He liked to play it out to wingers Alan Thompson and Didier agathe with 2 strong midfielders. Then have the wingers play it in for His big guy and Larsson. uch the same way we did when we had a fit Shearer and bellamy. 34267 But he also had Hartson & Sutton and a lot of the game was long balls upto one of them for Larsson to feed off. 34285 I just can't agree he mixed it up with a lot of wing play and good crosses but also play through the middle with diagonal through balls for Larsson to outpace defenders with. 34343 Exactly, and to be honest i have not seen Celtic over the last 5-6 years play anymore long balls than we have to Shearer. It seems now that any team who has a big physical striker up front is classed as a long ball team these days.

Is this the General Chat equivalent of "I've been going to the games since 1837 so I know more about football than you"? 34341 Aye the opinions of us part timers that have been listening to him for that last 20 years or so don`t count...

On the subject of dog shit it reminds me of a Billy Connolly question -

He said the other weekend that he only plays that way because he has to. He might even get something out of Faye... 33240 I don`t know about getting something from Faye but you are certainly extracting the urine with that comment surely....
