1. So who is all showing face for the big mans birthday?
2. I do realise he would never have played under Souness, but Cole would have done a job also.
3. I will be gutted if we lose the match and on Sunday will be backing the team as much as the next person. However i fail to see why sticking my head in the sand for the whole week and tip toeing around threads trying to go out our way not to criticise the shambles that is going on at the club right now will have any effect on the outcome of next weeks game.
4. Again i ask - who has said this?
5. Toontastic only. Not the right game for mass meet-ups. 46386 And who made you boss?
6. Who exactly would that be? I have yet to see anyone in this thread state that they didn`t want to win next weeks game or support the lads whilst at the game.
7. http://www.toontastic.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=2198
8. To be fair what do we have to laugh about at the moment? We are not much better on current form.
9. Newcastle are considering a move for Espanyol star Albert Lopo as they look to bolster their defensive options in January. With Graeme Souness' rearguard decimated by injuries, the need for New Year reinforcements is clear. And centre-back Lopo has come under the Magpies manager's microscope, along with Wigan left-back Leighton Baines. At 25, Lopo has more than 150 La Liga appearances to his name, along with a reputation as a no-nonsense stopper. Despite picking up a rash of red and yellow cards along the way, Aston Villa, Everton and Manchester United have all monitored him in the past. But with Souness obviously short of manpower at the back, and Lopo's current contract due to expire in the summer, Newcastle now head the Barcelona-born player's queue of English suitors. Espanyol insist that they will do all they can to persuade Lopo, and their highly-rated goalkeeper Carlos Kameni, to put pen to paper on a new deal in the Catalan capital. But there is little prospect of them being able to match the wages on offer to either man from bigger Spanish clubs, or in the Premiership. Meanwhile, United coach Dean Saunders attended his second England Under-21 game in succession in midweek . . . with Baines (right) the focus of his attention. The 21-year-old is a product of Wigan's youth system - and the Latics would fight tooth and nail to keep him.

11. Thats our record in the league under Souness Acceptable of not?
12. I fear that this could be a drowning our sorrows session...
13. Is he at a club now? 46236 Nope
14. To be fair to the ref as hopeless as he was it is a hard job and often its swings and roundabouts with decisions. Yes the inconsistency is infuriating but it does happen to most clubs at stages over the season. However one thing that is consistant is our managers ability to fail to pick up many points...
15. He should go now if we want any chance of beating the mackems next week.
16. Wigan manager Paul Jewell has revealed the club were closer to signing Michael Owen in the summer than many people think. Latics chairman Dave Whelan made an audacious bid for Owen, who at the time was looking to quit Real Madrid. Whelan offered Owen the option of a January transfer-window escape clause if all was not to his liking or was not working out. Wigan and Whelan were eventually trumped by Newcastle and a £17m offer, and now Owen lines up for United at the JJB Stadium this lunchtime, rather than against them. Jewell insists the club's move for Owen was "no publicity stunt", adding: "It's the old thing, if you don't ask you don't get. It looked as if Michael wasn't going to get in at Real Madrid this season, and with it being a World Cup year, we were willing to give him football. "Everything was done on the quiet, although it leaked out eventually, but it showed the ambition of the chairman and the club itself. I knew Michael wanted to go to Liverpool, everybody knew, even Newcastle fans, but the chairman put a deal to his agent, told him we were willing to pay £11m, and that was before Newcastle came in. "The chairman was prepared to put an awful lot of money in, pay an awful lot in wages, and we also said if Michael wanted to go in January, or if a bigger club came in then, we were prepared to let him go for what we were willing to buy him for. "It might have appeared pie in the sky, but I think it was closer than people think. If Newcastle hadn't have come in, then maybe he might have come here. "I'm not sure, you would have to ask Michael. I think he was surprised and shocked, but I think he admired us for it." Jewell also attempted to sign another player who eventually joined Newcastle in Scott Parker, with the midfielder moving from Chelsea for £6m. It ultimately proved a frustrating time in the transfer market for Jewell throughout the summer, but he appreciates why Owen and Parker chose not to join Wigan. "I don't think Scott and Michael have lost too much sleep over it," smiled Jewell. "I fully understand top players being reluctant to come, so I had no problem with them choosing to go to Newcastle. "I'm sure every top player in the world would choose an established club rather than one which is new to the Premiership and predicted to struggle." Owen represents the biggest threat to Wigan's hopes of extending an unbeaten run which has seen them accrue 13 of the last 15 points on offer. The 25-year-old scored in his last two Newcastle appearances before the international break - and took his tally to three in the last four games with the opener against Poland in Wednesday's 2-1 World Cup qualifying win. "He is a top player isn't he?" said Jewell. "He is one of the top players in Europe, if not the world, so we know it's going to be difficult for us to keep him quiet in this match. "In partnership with Alan Shearer, who may not be the player he once was but is still a top player, they are about as good a partnership as it gets." Wigan go into the game four places and four points above Newcastle.

21. I`ll give you the fact he never played in the final
22. That's a popular pub discussion. 44873 i mean - whats he done for his country ? answer = almost as much as peter crouch ! FACT 44902 He finished as his country's leading scorer as they won the World Cup. Further success followed at EURO 2000, where he was again his country's top scorer with three strikes. Thats FACT and is a hell of a lot more than Peter Crouch has done?
23. What have i missed? So does anyone on here know who it is? As like has been said they made a donation and i would like to thank them.
