do other western countries produce woolly headed pc obsessed liberal kids as much as the UK too do you think Stevie ? Your point is quite obvious even if someone doesn't "agree".
-
kids should play 5 a side, with small goals for as long as possible, on smaller pitches too.

that will cause some discussion when I pass that on............ie comparing with Stowell Street. My other half thinks they are nowt in particular, and it is friends of hers who think the Shanghai is very good. Me ? I don't care, I like the ones in Stowell Street but I'm not really arsed about posh restaurants etc. -
Firstly, I never said i didn't care about the history of the club, or anything about being less likely to succeed. What I am saying, is that the past is gone, the future is what is important now, more than the past. In my/your lifetime, you want to see the club being successful, don't you ? so that makes the future more important than the past, or living in the past. I thought people had accused me of living in the past ? The reverse is true, I look to the future and the long term all the time, I just see the lessons of the past and how things should be done from mistakes and relative success of the past and apply it to the present and future. Lots of clubs have moved ground, for instance, our neighbours 12 miles down the road for one. My point is, whatever history they had [and they were the Bank of England club once] they moved on from the past and if any of their supporters clung to past memories, when the dust settled they accepted it and got on with it. They are still sunderland, they are still mackems, they hated copying the name of the stadium from the real SOL, but now they don't give a toss because they have got used to it and the younger supporters don't know any different anyway. Newcastle supporters would do exactly the same, however much they protest. I've gave recent examples of occasions when people said they would not come back, including the recent stadium name change made among howls of protest but has now been disregarded if not forgotten about after the team won a few games, as soon as a team wins a few games, it is all forgotten. All supporters are the same. You make your history, not look back at it. You can't go against tradition any more than changing the name of SJP, yet nobody has stopped going in any numbers. My responses in this thread are all based on the past myths peddled by people for their own reasons that the club would cease to exist if it had ever went into administration, this has always been scaremongering bollocks and nothing else. If NUFC were ever to have gone out of business, it would have happened in the early 1990's. If the club HAD gone into liquidation, a new club would have been borne and whatever you think of the history and however much you cherish it, it would not have stopped 99% of people from supporting the club again just like before once the dust had settled, and continuing to say we won the FA Cup 3 times in the 1950's etc etc. The same applies to Rangers, now, which is the topic in question. You have added ammunition to the fact that they are not going to disappear, despite some people wishing it to be so and so convincing themselves that it will be. 50,000 supporters are not going to disappear, to suggest anything else is a load of crap.

he's a decent enough squad player, but we need better. Give the lad his due, he has done OK and always gave his best.
-
that's very honest of you mate......others get very defensive about the SPL sometimes. Every club has negatives including NUFC, it doesn't take much to admit to or recognise them. Hope you have a good season and continue to enjoy taking the piss out of all of them, on both sides.
-
I fully agree. Enjoy it, every minute of it. Do you think it will be a bad thing though, if Celtic are allowed a free run at everything [more or less, you get my drift] ?
-
it isn't me who says the club, or any other big club in a similar situation, will disappear, is it ? On the contrary, I think that stand is as safe as houses and you have only added to that belief.
-
is that the same people who say they won't go back for different reasons, and castigate the owner for it, time and time again, but do when the teams wins 2 or 3 games, kissing the owners arse when they do, and will then disappear again when they lose 2 or 3 games ? Or those who are happy to see our best players sold and the manager not backed with the money ? Edit. Actually Renton, while I am proud of the clubs history, just like everyone else, maybe too many people these days make excuses about the club as it is now, ignoring what it takes to succeed in the present day and immediate future, and choose to hide behind the history in many ways ? What do you think ? Having a proud history doesn't get you anywhere in the modern game, unfortunately.

true. But you never know anyway........ Good chinese one though, so we were told last week anyway - is the Shanghai on the Coast Road, just before the roundabout at the end. Few people we know who went there last week said it was the best meal ever. Worth checking out. -

do Blackburn have any decent players we could involve here in a part ex ?

Spurs may well dive a bit now, of course it depends who they get to replace the barrow boy, but he did well enough for them. It seems they have got too big for their boots. How many clubs is that now that consider finishing outside the top 4 is sack the manager time ? They can't all do it.
-
Garth Crooks is comfortably the biggest idiot of all the football pundits on TV. What are you planning to do with the £300 ?
-
you don't read a word do you ? to answer your specific question. You insinuated NUFC would spend the Carroll money on other players. You said we are doing it like Spurs. To date, we have not spent the Carroll money, and we have not matched or got anywhere near matching Spurs on a consolidated basis despite being a bigger club than Spurs. Rangers will not disappear, having a new name and challenging their equally bigoted rivals in a few years time is NOT disappearing. Like all other football supporters, they will forget about the past when the team starts winning again. What happens to them, at worst, will be little more than a relegation, like Fiorentina. They are not Third Lanark. All your blabbing is for nothing, but I realise it is because you WANT this to happen, therefore you THINK it will happen, But it will not happen. They will be back, or play somewhere else. The alternative is selling the land the ground sits on to Tesco, do you think this will happen ?
-
exactly.
-
depends on the management of the club. Someone who understood the club etc, not too long, someone who didn't understand the club and wasn't prepared to take risks knowing the potential and fanbase of the club, longer. You DID ask.
-
so it would be a good thing then ? Rangers would be better off if they bought Bury mind, that would put paid to your claims it's such a disaster for them. You do like to jump the gun too soon and get easily carried away don't you. Those 50,000 supporters aren't going to just disappear and support someone else because Rangers will cease to exist. Sometimes I wonder where people like you get your ideas from. What's it like to always be wrong ?
-
I bet you are
-
I agree, and I'm not saying its to be taken lightly at all, but once the new club got under way and winning, people would get used to it and support the new club just like the old one. Supporters are fickle, and easily taken in, but look at our own support for proof of that, they have said they wouldn't come back when Keegan walked, they said they wouldn't come back when the roof was plastered all over with those adverts, they said they wouldn't come back when the singing section was moved, they said they wouldn't come back when the name was changed to Sports Direct Arena. Of course, in my view, his current stock [which has never been higher] is only a upward temporary blip for reasons well documented that we won't mention again just now, and if the strip was changed to red and blue Sports Direct colours [which the 2nd strip will be in future as a tester] then they will say again they won't come back. But they would. Rangers fans will be back, soon, whatever happens, just like Fiorentina, rather than Third Lanark. Just like NUFC will if the worst ever happens. Can you imagine people doing anything else ? Of course not. People spend and have spent so much time babbling on about this ie Toonpack and the like, but at the end of the day, it amounts to tradition and history but not the future and if the team wins in the future, the past is very quickly forgotten. These clubs are too big to just disappear, whatever Celtic supporters may wish - although privately the ones with any intelligence will know that it would be the worst thing possible for the SPL if Rangers just disappeared.
-
that day is already here Stevie. They win the league and their best players are mostly premiership rejects or average players at best. Who was the last player to come down from Scotland and actually enhance their reputation as a "top" footballer ? I personally can't think of one since Gordon Strachan and Charlie Nicholas.

I believe the myth that has gone around for quite a number of years now is that going into administration leads to ceasing to exist. I have posted that clip from that book a few times now, and my own view that in fact it is nothing of the kind, at worst it is a relegation from which the big clubs will bounce back. This has been scorned by people who quite simply haven't got a clue what they are talking about, but as usual they are wrong, but we [or I] know their reasons for peddling this shite. That remains the case, and always has been and always will be the case. This scaremongering is laughable. I'm please you have confirmed it. Of course Rangers will bounce back, like any other big club. Why make out different ? Why doesn't Toonpack [in particular] simply confirm this is the case instead of babbling on for ages like a rock ape and insinuating differently ? BTW, if you think they will be weaker, how will they be weaker, do you think those 50,000 supporters are going to start supporting East Fife or someone else instead ?
