  1. how come nobody before our last owners finished top 4 before Abramovic if it was so easy ? Your statement where you said this, only tells me you are naive and completely oblivious to football in the 1960's, 70's and 80's. On that basis you ought to listen to what I tell you. Why don't you respond to my post where I asked you why we don't sell our worst players, rather than the best ones, and bring in these quality players ? This is the difference between a build and improve policy, as opposed to a sell and replace. You do understand this concept , don't you ? Nobody but us finished top 4 before Abramovich ? The hell are you on about? If i said this, you should quote it and we can all laugh at what an idiot i am. Its harder now than it was, Spurs are proving that you dont need to spend your way there like Man City but Financial Fair Play has come into being because people with far more knowledge and insight into football in the 60s and 70s than you have lobbied the European commission to generate legislation to address the problem. The fact that its harder now is accepted by not only those that run football but those that govern competition on our continent. You're right about keeping Carroll but life is not as easy as just accumulating as many good players as possible, there are constraints. Maybe we could have and we'd be better off. Everyone else in world football thinks selling Carroll was outstanding business and the right thing to do. Since we've been promoted, we've sold one player for financial reason, Barton, Nolan and Enrique were sold for less than their purchase price. One sale motivated by finance does not make a selling club. As for the build and improve, its all about that but giving Nolan 60k a week until 2014/15 is not a build and improve tactic. You could try and sell your worst players but the problem with that is no one wants them and even if they do, they wont pay any money for them. Alan Smith being a good example. I hope we do improve on our defence and midfield this summer, Smith's wages will allow at least one top class player to come in. Any bids for Krul, Cole or Tiote will be north of 15-20m, i'm not convinced the Ba contract is at it has been discussed in the press. If i was a betting man, i'd bet that the first team will be stronger next season than this season. I was convinced that would be the case from last season and the league table (which according to HF can NOT be trusted) suggests that was true. I wonder why i was so convinced? I wonder why i said the club is moving in the right direction and we didnt sell anyone in January? I wonder why i suggested we might strengthen in January and we did? As you're such an expert on football you'll be able to explain how i've been this able to mine this rich seam of being utterly correct for so long now. Is it because, as you so childishly put it, i've got my tongue up Ashley's arse or something else? read the post. You're blabbing on like others do when they know they can't reply. Why don't you answer a fundamental question I asked you. Why not sell our worst players and bring in more quality, rather than the best ones ? Do you or do you not accept that a real progressive club ie the ones that have been truly successful since the day football began, have been doing this rather than selling their best players and not backing the manager ? If you disagree [which you will] then show me ONE club that has ever achieved consistent top 6 or so league positions and regular european football or better that has sold their best players and not backed their manager ? Of course, this is crap but you won't be able to show us any club that has actually done this ?
  2. I've got a better suggestion, why don't you fuck off with your tail between your legs again ? And support Spurs because they employ a DOF system and so will succeed irrespective of the people involved in the system ? Oh wait. Are YOU prepared to take the bet I've offered mancmag ? If not, then put up or shut up ?
  3. he is magnificent when he plays like he did on sunday.

  5. Just quoting this so Sammy can see how rattled you are. What a stool. Leazes man don't bother asking me to comment on stuff, I can't see your stuff unless it's quoted. I put you on ignore months back you daft sack. You're wasting your time. just more reason to actually reply, so people can see what a bairn you are. Why not reply to the points I've raised in post nr 1373, this is what I've been saying for years, that you have said were rubbish. This is for you and Gemmill - do you still not agree the club is just an advertisment vehicle for Sports Direct ? Do you still think they won't sell their best players for monetary gain ? These are 2 of the things I've posted, that you have said in the past were "rubbish". In case you missed it, here it is again http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/29569-ashleys-transfer-history-thread/page__st__1360__p__1047534#entry1047534 So lets see your comments. And to re-iterate a point in the last post, as you agree with the deluded fools who think we are "doing it like Spurs", are you prepared to bet me that we don't finish in the top 4 under Mike Ashley, like Spurs have done [and our own previous owners for that matter, who DID do it like Spurs are doing now] ?
  6. but but but........I thought you said that the DOF system was the ONLY way to do it, and we would do the same under Wise and Keegan, even saying that Keegan should go and Wise should run the show to retain this DOF system ? The truth is Spurs are now run by football men, and we are not, whereas the reverse was true when they were run by Alan Sugar [Mike Ashley's role model ?] and we were run by football men. Have we or have we not made it easy for Spurs to climb above us, to borrow Chez's current cliche ? I don't remember saying that was the only way you could do it at all, in fact I'm sort of stuck in between being annoyed and feeling sorry for you that you have to make things up on the internet to try and back up your point, but that's not nearly as sorry as I feel for you that you've let being right on the internet become more important than being able to enjoy the club pushing for Europe. while I continue to go to games chum, unlike most of the Ashley arse lickers on here [who were attracted to the club in the first place by the owners they now scorn for getting it all wrong by the way]. You're another shambles of a man, you fucked off from here with your tail between your legs, and now you are back because you're banned from NO. You can't even admit that you championed this DOF system including Wise running the club at the expense of Keegan.
  7. haha. You're an idiot. You've disagreed with me for years on points I've brought up which are all happening and all you can do is pounce upon a few opinions from 2 other people who don't go to games, based on results on the pitch over a few months to vindicate a way of running the club, which will never match the long term results of what happened before, and can't even address the points I've put into one post and invited you to comment on them. You're an utter shambles of a man. You don't have the balls to admit that this is true. Long term I will be right. Will you bet me that we will not finish in the top 4 under Mike Ashley, yet Spurs have and according to you and others, we are doing it their way, which is an absolute joke. Go back to sitting on the fence. The ultimate grey man.
  8. well, if Spurs can do it ? We aren't talking about Norwich or bolton here are we ?
  9. but it isn't so long ago that Spurs couldn't compete with us ? How has this turnaround happened ? Has it been easy for them to do that, to quote the current deluded rubbish being spouted by Chez ? The turnaround has happened due to how the club was ran after Robson left, we were living beyond our means (which you've admitted yourself) and then struggled to shift on the players we handed big contracts to, which meant we were running at huge losses that we couldn't afford. Spurs on the other hand bought good young players that they hoped would rise in value and sold some of them for big profits, they also worked on boosting the clubs income while keeping costs down, so they could use those profits to invest in more players. but but but........I thought you said that the DOF system was the ONLY way to do it, and we would do the same under Wise and Keegan, even saying that Keegan should go and Wise should run the show to retain this DOF system ? The truth is Spurs are now run by football men, and we are not, whereas the reverse was true when they were run by Alan Sugar [Mike Ashley's role model ?] and we were run by football men. Have we or have we not made it easy for Spurs to climb above us, to borrow Chez's current cliche ?
  10. Wait a minute it was you who was claiming that it was easy in 93 but now we're challenging Arsenal,Chelsea and Liverpool "18 months after being in division 2" its difficult? I happen to agree with what you're saying, but giving that as an example earlier in the thread isnt the best thing you couldve used to illustrate your point because what has happened since promotion contradicts what you're claiming. It has been relatively easy. and correct me if I'm wrong but the club also operated at a loss in 09 and 10? We've acheived a lot quickly, and a lot of people share the credit for that including Ashley. But it was similar the last time we were promoted too. Remember we slipped back from 2nd to 7th in our second season in 95. This season barring a abysmal collapse our league placing will go up by about half a dozen places. Or is this part of your "its more difficult now" argument? We dropped from 3rd to 6th because we sold our best striker without an adequate replacement comi.....wait a minute!!! it was the managers decision.........and they backed him with all the money and more ? Or do you "disagree"
  11. We haven't been this highly-placed - "fleeting good position" - since Ashley took over. So how could you have been saying it for years? oh dear.
  12. Bolton fans said that when they flirted with the big boys, and so did Norwich.
  13. Just quoting this in the hope Leazes won't ignore it twice. Hilarious isn't it, he brings up Spurs, asks a question, which I answer and he goes off on a "oh no usual bollocks about Spurs again" rant indeed, the usual Spurs bollocks. I've told you how Spurs are above us after spending years below us. In fact, why don't you tell us how we were above them for years ?
  14. A poor season? The signs to me are theyre all in decline and the reasons for that are pretty clear and as youve pointed out they are all mangerial. And not a lot that can be done quickly about it at any of theses clubs when you look at the personalities involved.Theres a chance for a changing of the guard at the top of the league in the next couple of seasons and we're well placed to take advantage. Doubt if we will, or I just cant beleive that Ashley is capable of getting it right for as long as we need to keep challenging. He'll fuck it up by letting too many players go all at the same time iyam. I hope to be proved wrong. a racing certainty. The mentality inside the club has been obvious for years.
  15. but it isn't so long ago that Spurs couldn't compete with us ? How has this turnaround happened ? Has it been easy for them to do that, to quote the current deluded rubbish being spouted by Chez ? They sold players for significant profit and bought good cheaper replacements without spending all the cash they brought in. oh fuck, here it comes. The usual bollocks about Spurs. All those "trophy players" Including ex Newcastle ones ? By the way, they aren't a patch on the team assembled by Keegan, and are only a match for the one assembled by Bobby Robson at best. Sadly though, those 2 periods ie over 10 of the 15 years, don't count do they ?
  16. it's obvious to anyone who doesn't have their nose up Mike Ashleys arse and understands how success in football is achieved and how a club like NUFC ought to be run, that our current on the pitch performance is no different to the fleeting good positions achieved by the likes of Norwich, Bolton etc of the past, and that is all. Totally unfair (as always), you can only say that sort of thing when looking back. on the contrary chum, I've been saying it for years, which is the exact point certain people on here who are backing out of this discussion, know is true but won't admit it.
  17. It's impossible to compete with Man City, it's possible to compete with Spurs eventually but it will take time to build ourselves to that level of finances. I thought you were ignoring me after you didn't bother telling me which parts of the earlier post were rubbish. but it isn't so long ago that Spurs couldn't compete with us ? How has this turnaround happened ? Has it been easy for them to do that, to quote the current deluded rubbish being spouted by Chez ?
  18. it's obvious to anyone who doesn't have their nose up Mike Ashleys arse and understands how success in football is achieved and how a club like NUFC ought to be run, that our current on the pitch performance is no different to the fleeting good positions achieved by the likes of Norwich, Bolton etc of the past, and that is all.
  19. I'm happy to try Spurs approach but see 5 teams whose revenues/profits/cash are very hard to match. That's why imo challenging around 5th/6th/7th is about "right" sadly. Beyond that its about management/luck. Pretty much how I see it, Spurs have done well with how they've built themselves up but we are still closer to them in terms of points than they are to Man City, they've also never finished as high in the Premiership as Norwich did back in 1992 despite having a top quality team, which to me shows how much more difficult it is to compete now compared to back then. difficult to compete with Spurs, or Man City ? You still don't get it. Stop excusing Mike Ashley for not competing at the levels NUFC ought to be doing.
  20. never ceases to make me smile, when people say that I have said I support everything that "Fred" did, when he never owned the club, and I have said hundreds of times that I will back anybody who I think is doing their best that understands the club. The problem is, Mike Ashley doesn't understand the club, and doesn't have the ambition for it that an owner ought to have. It's that simple.
  21. shame I thought you may have intelligently responded to my constructive comments that I've made for years, rather than dismissing them in the way you do. As someone who is only half interested in the club though, as shown by your lack of attendance at games despite living locally, I should have known better.
  22. read the thread you imbecile I'm not talking about Chelsea or Man City that link is old hat now, made up and what a shame there is no record of it being edited to show it. Still, you know best, supporting Souness spending the money he did, for an accountant too.
  23. as I said, it's not really worth replying to you. You have shown over the years that you will simply disagree with something just because its' me, because most of what I have said and you have disagreed with over the years is now happening, and you're still at it. NUFC can crack those barriers if they have the desire to do it, but they won't do it by selling their best players and not backing their managers, its really that simple, because they are not Norwich, Blackburn, Bolton etc although a foolish element of the support has accepted these lower standards now.
  24. best read for a while, miles better than the Ashley arse licking. I had also heard about the Forth and the metro, occasionally I pop in there and Raffertys. See what you can do when you don't spout politics
