you are wrong. You have been wrong for all this time, and you are still wrong. He HAS and IS and WILL continue to sell the best players, and NOT back the manager with the money. He IS and WILL CONTINUE to sell a player if an operational profit is not obtained, because it is easier and less risky for him to gamble on reaching the higher league positions and the Champions League places. He IS running the club as a vehicle to sit alongside Sports Direct, he IS happy with preserving premiership status which IS the main priority in order to promote Sports Direct, and this IS the main target for this very purpose, with minimum outlay, anything further than that is a bonus. He HAS [and STILL IS] lowered expectations among foolish supporters who are now content to swap aiming for success for a good balance sheet. He will NOT match the league positions of his predecessors on a consistent basis, so far he has not done this, and this will continue.

as I said, congratulations on finally realising what I've been telling you for years, unless of course you can tell us how Mike Ashley is going to turn NUFC into a successful football club by selling our best players and not backing the manager ? Make sure you actually read this, its a genuine question and I'm curious as to how you think it can be done, as you don't reply to my earlier post.
-
did you copy and paste that from the geniuses at skunkers ?

zero reply from the financial whizz kid.

so he is running a tighter ship, with smaller outgoings and lower income levels and making a small operational profit if possible. Just how exactly does a big club succeed in football without speculating to accumulate and competing with the other clubs who are speculating to accumulate, some of whom have smaller fanbases than we do, don't have sugar daddies, and are smaller clubs than we are ? It makes me laugh this, the amount of financial whizz kids who don't understand football and think it is the same as a High Street store. You still don't get the idea and the concept of what to do to succeed in football and what it entails, do you ? Chez does, because he mentioned it a few years ago. If you don't, work it out. Otherwise, if you are happy to lower your standards and expectations of success at football in return for a tighter financial ship and would prefer to see a good set of accounts than a club aiming for success on the pitch, congratulations on finally realising what I've been saying for years that you too have bickered with me about. You will all come round in the end, although you will never admit it.

so says the bloke who was happy to hoy as much at Souness as he required to "build his team". My point is fairly straightforward, with the 14th biggest revenues coming in, why do they need more to meet normal operational costs ? Do the 13 clubs that were above us need to do this ? Has he presided over a fall in revenues ? Who's fault is that, and how does he need to restore them again to the high levels that they were, as put against our rivals ? I am wondering when people like you are going to stop making excuses for him.
-
progressive clubs realise that this money should go to the manager, its part of backing him as much as possible. 2nd rate clubs sell players and then use the money elsewhere. A club like NUFC - with the 14th biggest revenues in football [this is a fact, FAO Gemmill particularly] 5 years ago, should not need to deflect money elsewhere like this. How much more revenues are needed to not have to deflect money like this ? Shouldn't the manager expect the money recouped from sales to change/hopefully improve the team as he sees fit, because he is the team manager ? This has been pointed out before, what is it about it that you don't understand ?
-
You mean something along the lines of spending £10m on a new striker only a few weeks ago? with 20m+ quid left from the Carroll cash in the kitty to hand to the manager and attempt to further improve the team, they shouldn't have to sell anyone else to bring in more quality players, wouldn't you agree ? And do you think this will happen ? Shame it didn't cement possible Europa League qualification this season, mind, maybe that was a step too far in the "plan".

Following our magnificent start to the season, the club has lost 7 of it's last 16 games. Only Blackburn, Bolton, Wolves and QPR have lost more in the same period. I hope the progress made isn't fleeting. not to mention dropping 4 home points against inferior opposition in the last week. You have to wonder what further strengthening the team with that missing cash could have done when the final table is all done and dusted. -

because he's not a quitter, or wasted money. Oh wait. -
aye, let's all live in fairyland for a few months.

Why? I would have thought that having an operating profit before player trading, whilst bringing in quality players, whilst being 6th in the league in March, whilst being 5 points ahead of Liverpool was a canny position to be in. Surely its the sort of position that makes owners feel better and more likely to offer better contracts to star players and take the odd punt now and again. Should I be sad? it should also be a position from where they add more quality to the team rather than selling another top player, but we'll leave that particular angle for a few months shall we ?

maybe, but nobody can get every decision right. I think the main priority for a referee in a match like this is to maintain control and try to avoid stopping the game flowing. From that basis, he had a good game and it is difficult to see how he could have done better. It may be true that Cattermole could have been sent off in the first minute, but this sort of thing happens in a lot of games. I agree with the comments about Williamson though, while agreeing that it was a penalty, I say this because I think the time is long overdue for refs to start clamping down hard on all this pulling and pushing in the box, which is now totally ridiculous. Start giving more penalties and cards and sort it out. Some refs would also have gave Tiote a card for diving [if he saw it clearly] - although he was struck [and you can't raise your hands or you rightly get a red card] he made a meal of it which wasn't clear at the time from where I sit but on TV later is obvious. A draw was a fair result too. We were an utter shambles in the first half but came back well in the 2nd, although we jumped up at the end when Williamson had the ball taken off his toe, which would have really pissed the mackems off no end. Only 5 minutes earlier they thought they were going to win. -

and if someone exercises straightforward logical judgement [not that you do in your own way.....] ? Is that a bad thing ? If I urged the banning of people disagreeing with me by the way ie for exercising blind optimism [which I know hasn't been you], there would hardly be any fucker left. Just a different perspective. If you ever exercise straightforward logical judgement, we'll let you know. err.......that's precisely what I've been doing for years Gem.........you can't argue with the logic of league positions, growth of the club, and how such things are achieved. -

There's clearly no need. there clearly is. There is also a need for you to reply to the post where you fobbed off the comment I made about the club not backing the manager with the cash from Carroll, in view of the weekends news. Don't expect you to do it though. -
he's got a great talent. You should try to accommodate him somehow. I said to my mate yesterday, he should start all games in that right wide position. I don't know if he likes it or prefers to play there, but the position is his if he wants it, if he is on his game then great, if he isn't then sub him. Is he an erratic genius ? He seems to be. But we should be starting him more now.

that's a shame, that you appear to think that people should be banned for having a different opinion to the majority. That is Newcastle Online type mentality. It is compounded by the fact, that what I say still stands as being factual and correct, otherwise I could not say it. Do you think the admin on here are of Newcastle Online mentality ? -

what is your problem with someone supporting the football club ? Because you clearly don't support the club, you oppose and paint every move the club makes with your negativity and mental disorder. Your 'support' is purely financial. I have offered to talk to you about any game since 1964, when you said you were a year older than me. That offer stands. Put up or shut up, you utter complete idiot. If supporting the club, in your eyes, means blind optimism, I just feel sad for you -
