Carroll`s career so far in Liverpool
LeazesMag replied to Lake Bells tits's topic in Newcastle Forum
you shut the fuck up. You should also tell countless posters to answer my questions, in fact, you should answer those I've posted at you yourself too. The simple fact is that what I have said for years, IS all happening, despite you clinging to your desperate stupid comments saying otherwise, and childish remarks speculating on whether I've been to the pub or not, like a daft little kid who thinks having a pint of ale is shocking, you idiot. I've stuck to what I've always said at all times, and you simply can't prove anything is wrong because that quite simply has not been the case. You should stick to brushing up on your own perceptions, such as the ludicrous posts you made, as an accountant, backing the mad spending of Souness with all the money that you presumably thought the club had, as an accountant. And THAT is also the truth. You're potty. Champions League, 14th best revenues, 5th best average position, are NOT waffling, they are stone cold hard FACTS, you utter dummy. I also don't give a toss what ewerk says or asks, he's beyond any help. -

I think its 50/50 this season. What about next? Any improvement? Can you see us challenging for a champions league place in the coming seasons with this policy? Im interested to know what you think - not "funny" questions. Why should we be competing for a CL spot in the first place? We're arguably punching above our weight/over-achieving at the moment. Mike Ashley will love you. -

if you don't take a shot you don't score a goal What amuses me, is mancmags constant references to me, when he knows that what I say is right, he's bickered with me for years, saying what I said was wrong, and is still doing it despite everything. The club IS now a vehicle for Sports Direct, survival in the premiership IS the sole aim [anything else is a bonus], the club will sell a player "to make ends meet" if they don't make an operational profit rather than aim for the top places and sponsorships etc, the club will sell its best players for monetary gain, the club will not back its manager in the way it should. -
And on that note i just want to re-iterate that i have always said that you may be proven correct. There is a bit of a difference in perspective here. For me, all the current signs suggest an increasingly engaged owner who (without going too much into the psychology) may be increasingly willing to invest a greater amount into the club. For you, this is just an impression given by a few short term positives but that trend will reverse. Ashley adopted a new business and investment strategy for the club during the relegation season, he took the club off the market and things were then done differently. The overall picture is not clear because of Carroll but once you get past that, the signs point in one direction. I'm circumspect enough to accept that the future may bring the sales of key players again, its inevitable really. However, the club are currently pushing to get into Europe, they invested 10m into that effort about 5 or 6 weeks ago, its got us 4 points already. The view of their ambition to get to Europe is further cemented by the new deals for Krul and Colo as that is further investment. What part of that is not moving in the right direction? The only sane way to view it really. We all want it quicker and we all want certain players out of the first team quicker, to be replaced with better, but Ashley clearly doesn't see the rush. I think he equates rushing it with telephone number wage bills and unacceptable wastage, for pretty obvious reasons. So far we've been pushing in the right direction, anyone who doesn't acknowledge that has to be prosecuting an agenda. It's not the same as saying it will last forever but then nothing ever does. It's second season back up and it's finding out how to operate most effectively outside of the artificial money league. considering its 5 years since he bought the club, and we had the 14th biggest revenues in football, thats a remarkable observation, but usual for you as in blabbing on about events after they have happened and pretending you have said this all along. Mind, he still will never push for real success, and use the club as a vehicle for Sports Direct, which you may finally post in about 5 more years and pretend you have said that all along too.
-
you can't argue with the tried and trusted methods, until someone comes along and shows you can match the top clubs by behaving like 2nd rate selling clubs. As its never happened in over 100 years, I hope you live long enough to proudly proclaim you are right, which clearly you are clinging onto.

Carroll`s career so far in Liverpool

Enrique is the better player now - but I think Santon will be the better player in a couple of years, he's on a long deal as well so I could fancy him to do something here. Jose was a similar age when he came here and sometimes he was so bad we put Bassong at left back, he was universally berated by the fans and that only really improved when he found form in the championship. His form in 10/11 was great in the first half of the season but tailed off after Carroll left, ''If Andy can get totally ridiculous money, why can't I?' He stalled on his contract despite decent offers & he fucked off but there's a lot of glossing over regards his NUFC career. Given the deals we're seeing at the moment I think it's fair to say we would have paid Enrique the going rate for his services. He certainly wouldn't have been swindled for a full back with what would have been on the table as you say. He wanted away because he wanted to join Liverpool for me, simple as. He's won something already so fair do's. Liverpool do that not simply because of the massive fees they've paid of late (Carroll has done nothing for them, ditto Downing and Henderson is Joe average), but because they're Liverpool and thats what they do. Win things. They still won things back in the day that Leazes harks back to ie when we were the 'top' team in the Prem in terms of the spending he craves and when they were 'shit'. oh dear. You mean when we qualified for the Champs League etc ? Don't you ? What you fail to appreciate, is this was BECAUSE we bought the players we did, and everybody else who has qualifed has done the same. Liverpool win things, but the only time we have came close to them as well as get above them a few times, is when we behaved like them, and that is the truth. Are you going to spend the next few years bickering on with me just like you have done the last few ie when I told you that we would sell our best players/run the club as an advertisement and promotional vehicle for Sports Direct/never match the league positions of the ex owners [who embarrassed you so much when they were doing it ?], all of which you have gone to great lengths to dismiss as rubbish ? You're such a fool, and it says everything about you, that you simply can't bring yourself to admit that what I say is the truth. -

I don't think a few good things in the short term balance out the longer term setup and ambitions at all. You will see. And on that note i just want to re-iterate that i have always said that you may be proven correct. There is a bit of a difference in perspective here. For me, all the current signs suggest an increasingly engaged owner who (without going too much into the psychology) may be increasingly willing to invest a greater amount into the club. The view of their ambition to get to Europe is further cemented by the new deals for Krul and Colo as that is further investment. What part of that is not moving in the right direction? they didn't "invest 10m", they spent 10m out of a lot of money burning a hole in the pocket, of which there is still a substantial amount left. That is NOT moving in the right direction. And I'm not so convinced of Cisse as a lot of the hype, although as we haven't seen the money from Carroll, we may as well have kept him at the club and had Cisse, Ba and Carroll all on the books. We may be "pushing for europe" but we have dropped 4 home points against 2 teams below us in the league in the last week. If we still had more fire power etc etc those points could yet prove costly, so what price "pushing for europe" ? If not for the "sell and replace" policy, that place could be almost in the bag by now. That is the difference between real ambiton and the whole thing being totally unexpected and a complete surprise.
-
when you say "impending doom", do you mean booing a team for only finishing 5th or saying "anybody but Fred could do better than this" ? Anyway, you are now someone else I'm going to stop trying to educate, I've gave up on you. I'm not going to put you on ignore, like a bairn, but I'm not going to tell you where you are going wrong anymore.
-
I'm not "worried" about anything. I've seen it all before, I never "worried" about the so called threat of administration which never materialised, partly because no club goes out of existence as was portrayed by the anybody but Fred brigade and it would not happen to a club like NUFC having survived 1991 when it almost did - and it would have happened then if it ever was going to happen, but also even those that it has happened to, have mostly only been relegated in effect. I've seen NUFC relegated 3 times, shit happens. The only thing I would dearly love to see, before I am too old, is to see NUFC win the League and/or the FA Cup [or even the League Cup] before I'm too old to go to games anymore. I am afraid that this time has passed my entire generation by. I was 8 months old when NUFC last won the FA Cup. I blame the slide of the club in the 1960's, 70's and 80's when put against the history of the club, because the people who ran it during this time were small men and not capable of doing what they ought to have done, the club had a mountain to climb in real terms when they finally started to get their act together again. Keegan said "the first trophy will be the hardest, because it has been so long", and he is right. McKeag, Seymour etc ? They started the rot of the only period in the entire history of the club when they won nothing. My generation. I don't "worry", its just frustrating, but I've got hundreds of great memories if its any consolation. Pardew may or may not believe the bullshit from above, and bullshit it is, but he is only doing his job by being positive in front of the press. He could do a Keegan, and tell it like it is, but Keegan was unique, he is also financially secure and so could do what he liked and also get away with it because of the esteem he is held in by the clubs support.

I think you need to read that again, and understand the bigger long term picture. We are indeed acting like a 2nd rate selling club, we have been doing so overall for over 4 years and the sooner you understand the better and I don't have to read rose tinted rubbish saying differently. You know LM, I think this highlights the difference between you and others. I think you have been around so long ( ) that you look at the big picture, while the months merge in to seasons and so on. This isnt as much of a piss take as it sounds btw I on the other hand just want to enjoy each week as it comes. Who cares what happened last year and who gives a fuck about next season. Ill worry about that in the summer. I'm looking at the games just played or te one coming up. I look at the squad we have hear and now and I'll worry about next seasons squad next season. Something will fuck up and I'll go mental and be all fucked off about it, you'll say "I told you so". Neither of us are wrong I'd say, just look from a different perspective,. You go on about who we will sell in the summer etc as if they have already gone, because as you say you are looking at the big pic. I'll worry about that when and if it happens but Im too busy looking at this season and who we have now to think about it. I accept what you say, but surely that makes my view all the more worthy of consideration ? For the record, even when I was younger, I always found the selling of our best players, coupled with lack of backing of the managers, irritating and frustrating. I realised from an early age that NUFC were a huge club selling themselves short, but then I appreciate that those who have grown up under a board who actually had different ambitions may not understand this and so have a different perspective, which of course I disagree with, and so far, everything I have said could possibly happen has happened, so I stand by everything I have said over the years, with almost 5 years of Mike Ashleys ownership now passed.

We are indeed acting like a 2nd rate selling club, we have been doing so overall for over 4 years and the sooner you understand the better and I don't have to read rose tinted rubbish saying differently. Give me the argument in 3 bullet points using just the facts. No opinion, no future mystic meg shit. Just the basic tenets of your why, like i did above. It should be easy and it will help the discussion. No one is stupid on either side of this debate but the best way to get to the nub of the matter is extract all the waffle and state the basics simply and succinctly. .. .. .. Just like that. as you insist on this nonsensical bullet point type approach : we sell our best players we don't back our manager to the fullest of our ability, especially when withholding the cash made from selling those players that are bringing in big money that he in all probability from a playing perspective he would rather keep we operate a "sell and replace" policy rather than an "improve and build" Just like that. Time will prove me right. I haven't been saying the same thing for over 4 years for nothing, I'm still saying it because to date I am proving absolutely correct, as HF has said. You can't argue with it. Come the day the facts prove me wrong, then I can't put these points across anymore.........I won't spend years bickering on like others do about it who can't admit they were wrong, I'll admit that it has been incorrect. I've also correctly stated, that no team in the history of football has ever put together a consistent highly placed club by doing anything other than keeping its best players, and backing its managers. People can produce as many bullet points and spreadsheets as they like, but at the end of the day, football success is only achieved by the clubs who follow the policies I've explained. Just like that.

I always thought Enrique would be a good player, this point was made to me yesterday by my mate after the game that Santon has looked quite good fairly quickly and I accept that, but I think Enrique is the better player. Anyway, it doesn't excuse the point that a sell and replace policy was adopted, rather than add Santon to the team thus also improving the overall squad too as a result ie building and improving. Enrique is the better player now - but I think Santon will be the better player in a couple of years, he's on a long deal as well so I could fancy him to do something here. He stalled on his contract despite decent offers & he fucked off but there's a lot of glossing over regards his NUFC career. fair enough Tom, you are entitled to your opinion, but I think Enrique is one of the best left backs in the premiership and I thought when he first came here that he would be a good player. I also think the reasons he left are important, I don't have much doubt that he left the club for career reasons, and in such cases, it is up to NUFC to put their house in order and make the club more attractive to players from that particular point of view. I don't blame them for leaving if they have serious career ambitions to play for the ambitous clubs, I point the finger at NUFC and nobody else for that. -
enjoy the game yesterday Gem ?

One of us needs specs, i said we arent acting like a 2nd rate selling club. You are though and should i infer that any club not acting like Man City is a 2nd rate selling club? I think you need to read that again, and understand the bigger long term picture. We are indeed acting like a 2nd rate selling club, we have been doing so overall for over 4 years and the sooner you understand the better and I don't have to read rose tinted rubbish saying differently.

fuck me sideways
-
exactly. Even in the days under McKeag, Seymour etc, they did some things which were good, and they signed and re-signed some players too, but it didn't change the fact that they were running a 2nd rate, selling club show and did not have the desire or ambition to attempt to move further and seriously challenge at the levels the club ought to be doing, the result is that when the short good run is over, you don't have the quality or mentality to sustain it, and you will go backwards. It is as certain as night becomes day, and it will happen under the current setup too for exactly these reasons.

basic sort of stuff tbh mate, this is a principle that the old regime always adopted, not just on occasions, not that it means either of them will actually not be sold if someone bids for them though. Because they will, they will be sold to finance the new contracts of someone else, just like the Carroll money has been used for that purpose. I've said it hundreds of times, and I'll say it again. He will sell a player to make a profit if the club does not make one operationally, rather than go for the money to be made in the Champions League, or even to increase sponsorship deals etc. It's a vehicle for Sports Direct to sit alongside it, and so long as it is in the premiership and can display those adverts etc on that stage, he is happy. And so it goes on. It's a 2nd rate, selling club mentality. If it had been adopted earlier, then Enrique may have still been here for starters, and nobody can say that Santon is a better player, because he certainly is not. He's better than Simpson though, and we could have had Santon and Enrique both in the team/squad. -
what a load of crap. 100% true and factual, yet crap in Leazes-world. Sums you up perfectly. why don't you make football posts ? When have Spurs sold players and not backed their manager ? You're living in a dreamworld chum.
-
you have indeed, if you still can't work it out, I'm not telling you
-
it seems some muppets still don't recognise the strategy of 2nd rate selling clubs whrn it hits them right between the eyes. You said it mate I did indeed. Meanwhile I'm pleased for you, that you appear to think NUFC are behaving like a big, ambitous club again, how much did you pay for those rose-tinted specs ?
