goaded ? No. But I am going to stop explaining the same thing, and trying to educate them, hundreds of times, they should understand the situation by now. -
you know I don't use that name ...... !!

England, in the first half, were so negative its incredible. I know football is about possession and patience, especially at the higher levels, but they fannied around playing so many passes in their own half, with Parker running from right to left telling people where to pass the ball. The Dutch were much more incisive and quick, they were the best team. I get the impression someone has told Stuart Pearce he's a manager in waiting and he actually believes them. He shouldn't get anywhere near that job.

if you get right underneath the beam, its pretty spectacular.

oh. what is important is that on the odd occasion when they sell their best players ie local lads Gerrard and Carragher who wanted to leave, they back their manager completely to improve the team with all of the cash, in addition to the usual amount befitting an ambitious club that attempts to win things. And hey presto, they won a trophy on Sunday, and they won't sell their best players rather than build on it by continuing to back their manager. So Andy Carroll is doing just fine, as is Jose Enrique. So why didn't the ambition Freddy showed result in the same? Lack of competence? I don't think "Freddy" actually played in one of those 2 FA Cup Finals or any other game tbh, but the players were good enough to get there, twice, and qualify for the Champions League and reach the 2nd stage, and european competition many times. So they were good enough. I never realised it was "Freddy" who hit the post against Arsenal, missed almost an open goal against ManU, or completely froze in both games. Nor pick weakened teams in League Cup games. -
true, but gobshite Collymore noticed when someone called him nasty names.........this is the bloke who beat his girlfriend up in a restaurant/pub in Paris.

wound up ? Change ? The only person who can change my "view" is Mike Ashley, and if he does I won't spend years being unable to see it or admit it. He won't. Do you see the Carroll cash being given to the manager to improve the team as best he can, or not ? My point about this thread remains. It is nothing but sour grapes. Andy Carroll is doing just fine at Liverpool, he knew he was joining a club to boost his career, and he now has a Cup Winners medal to show for it, and he knows [like Enrique] that he is now playing for a club attempting to build on that, rather than one that is a stepping stone and will sell other players like himself for monetary reasons. If NUFC aspire to be like Liverpool, rather than the lesser lights in this league, they may find their best players wanting to stay at the club again, and other top players wanting to come. -

JSM, stop being a complete shithead and start to see the bigger picture. -
you could, but it's not so simple as that is it ? Robert and Bellamy fell out with the manager [yes, we know] and Viana, Chopra and Boumsong were all not good enough, 2 of them were mistakes, and half of europe were after Viana at the time but he chose Newcastle ahead of Liverpool too for that matter. Only Jenas remains, and he was sold for other documented problems. None of those players were sold for purely monetary reasons, whereas recent players at the club have been, and will continue to be sold for that reason. This is a big, big difference.

Sports Direct, or someones back pocket perhaps ?

Why the laugh, it's a perfectly valid point. Certainly better than spending £17M on Owen and paying him £100K a week. Ah but, there you are reacting in hindsight. I was over the moon when Owen signed, even though he turned out to be a fucking leech. ah. Hindsight. The best management tool in the business. -
shocking and tragic. RIP

so they wouldn't back their managers judgement ? Or the DOF, if some are to be believed ? Swings and roundabouts, other players will cost less and repay their fee 10 times over, thats the way it goes. But Liverpool are showing their intentions and rather than be seen as a stepping stone are making themselves a more attractive club and increasing their chances of having more success by building rather than selling and replacing for cheaper. -

Of course it shows ambition - it may well be a poor decision, they have probably paid over the odds and the money could and should have been better spent, but it does without question show ambition Would you be happy if it were us spending that sort of money on the likes of Henderson? so 1 players encompasses your entire transfer policy who is the most useful player to have in your club, Henderson or either Perch or Obertan [as he plays in the same position]. -

Course not, there's much more to it than that, but it's interesting, in a discussion on what spending power can do for you to look at the short term results. Of the ten biggest spending clubs, only 3 remain in the bottom half, Fulham can probably get out of that so only QPR and Villa are bucking the "money makes all the difference" trend. Conversely, from the bottom ten spenders, only Everton, Spurs and Norwich are in the top half. The first 2 had top class squads to start with, so the only one club making a go of it for spending nowt, are Norwich. this will be largely ignored. -

Like selling Carroll for £35m and buying BA and Cisse for just over 10 or flogging Nolan for 3 and buying Cabaye for 4 ? It baffles me how anyone can knock that -

. Matching stoke by spending £10m on a striker. Surely that should be the minimum we do. Not if you're spending money for the sake of it. who's advocating spending for the sake of spending ? -
my thoughts have been made clear for a long time now, if you still don't see it, that's your problem. State your fucking opinion or keep quiet. State your fucking opinion, I've stated my views for a long time now, or piss off.

so where is the rest of the cash, and why have they not backed the manager to do even better ?
