Celta to get Mido on loan?

Celta Vigo have confirmed an interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido on loan.

The Egyptian has struggled to establish himself at White Hart Lane this season since completing a permanent move to the club.

He had impressed during a previous 18-month loan spell from Roma, but has not had the same impact since returning to North London.

Mido has scored just once in nine Premiership games and is fourth choice behind Dimitar Berbatov, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe.

Spanish side Celta have claimed Spurs are looking to sell the player before the close of the transfer window, but are unlikely to meet the asking price.

Instead, Celta president Carlos Mourino has revealed the club are hoping to strike a deal to bring Mido to Balaidos.

Mourino told AS: "Tottenham want to sell him, but Mido has a price that we cannot afford.

"We are looking for a loan deal. We would like to partner him with (Fernando) Baiano because he is a good player, who has already done well here.

"We are doing our best to get him, but we are keeping our options open."

Mido previously spent a loan stint at Celta towards the end of the 2002/03 season when he was signed from Ajax.

Now I know Mido can be trouble but if he is available on loan surely he would be worth the risk for a few months as a target man for Martins to play off?

Nobody at the club seems to think like this tho,if they were working to get someone in,then they would have done so by now in the time before the window opened,it's nearly the close of the window and it will be like the last one, everyone crying out for signing's and cover etc but nothing but shite at the end of it,wether in players or talk!wearing wafer thin now if not dissolved altogether.Bollox!

If Celta need a striker, Luque is available....

Has anyone heard of the deal Man City were trying to make for Mido hitting any barriers??? It seems that this player has come out of nowhere as a possibility. Doubt spurs would loan him out to any clubs in the premiership IMO.

Distin off to Spurs in exchange for Mido apparently.

Can that happen considering he only signed permanently for Spurs in August? <_<

i think so. iirc we got boumsong in jan after rangers signed him the previous summer.

there might besome restrictions on players moving more than twice in a year though...

I think its fine since he never played for roma before he signed.

Portsmouth got Traore after charlton only got him at the start of the season, but since he never played for liverpool it was fine.

Thats why their is a hold up with the liverpool deal for Mascherano as he has had played for his old club, then west ham.
