Monaco have confirmed their interest in Newcastle's Turkish ace Emre - whose agent continues to engineer a move.

Galatasaray have also been linked to the Magpies' fans favourite who has two-and-a-half years left on his St James' Park contract.

But Monaco coach Ricardo admitted the 27-year-old former Inter Milan star is on their list of targets for the January transfer window.

"He is a midfielder who has technique and he is a target," he said.

Monaco have pulled out of bidding for Juventus midfielder Tiago, who has been outspoken in his criticism of the Serie A club recently, which could open the route for his return to a top club in England.

What at? Diving? Would be delighted if a playmaker type who actually made an impact on matches regularly was signed in his place.

Like the Everton game this season?

Aye, he rarely does it though. Thought it was obvious that was the point I was making.

He offers nothing, in a Milner type uselessness way.

Even less, at least Milner runs.

He runs, it's just he has a lower maximum speed due to his little legs. In fact I'm pretty sure he has to run constantly just to keep up with play.

Would be criminal for us to sell Emre and not sign a replacement. Love him or hate him, he's the only player in the centre of our midfield who can actually create something

Emre isn't slow, tbh.

Proper 100m sprinter isn't he. Or did you mean mentally? (the kid who acts like a twat when we have used all three subs, and starts full scale riots while on international duty)

Emre just isn't built for the EPL. For me, he has to be playing in the final third of the pitch, maybe in a Beardsley type role to see the best of him but he's never going to be any use to Sam. If we get decent money I'm not fussed to see him leave.
