I found it hard to watch. We didn't actually find out anything we didn't already know. So what is the point of this? Someone explain the merits of this programme. Why was it shown? Please someone give me an angle as to why the public needed to see this. To show the world what a bastard Gazza is? To relive old, and in fairness horrowing tales of Sheryl being phycially abused? What the fuck was the point in this show????????????

I think he's entirely beyond help, but people very rarely hear home truths and no father would like to hear what Reagan had to say about Gazza.

If he watches it even remotely sober, perhaps there is a tiniest possibility he might actually realise that his kids are worth getting better for.

The more I watch this, the more pissed of I get with the little twat.

All Regan sees is his Dad being an alcoholic abusive man who has beaten his mother and rarely seen his only biological son when he has been sober. He obviously feels totally let down by him. It's no wonder he feels the way he does when he recites memories of Gazza eating a bag of sweets, throwing up in the bag and then continuing to eat them.

Paul Gascoigne is one of the most (if not THE most) talented footballer I ever had the pleasure to watch in the flesh. The fact that his life has turned out the way it has is extremely sad. However, if this wasn't Gazza and simply a 'Joe Bloggs' with a drinking and mental health issue, people would probably pat the kid on the back for being strong-willed and forming his own opinion.

That's spot on for me.

Its obviously not his own opinion though. Its his mothers. Notice that every slanging match, phone call etc was done in front of him, complete with her tears and slagging off of him after.

I dont know about anyone else but if my folks had a row when I was growing up they did it in another room or out of ear shot. Its not right for a lad of his age having to hear his mother bang on like that.

Not going to happen. Hes got alcohol induced psychosis and continues to drink. Hel end up jumping off his balcony thinking hes being chased by the IRA or something unfortunately

He's 13 and capable of reasoned thought. IMHO what he was saying was the thoughts of a young lad that has been very very let down by a father who can't even recognise him on the phone.

My father wasn't around much and I had my mother bleating about it and I quickly came to the same conclusion that Regan has - that the best place to be is to distance yourself emotionally - so that you are numb to potentially hurtful things.

Like Craig said if this was a different alcoholic, abusive, embarrassing Joe Bloggs the lad would be patted on the back.

Would love to know how their still funding the kind of lifestyle they're living as none of them seem to do much. The eldest lad I felt sorry for, seems the only genuine one.

The show should have never been made imo and I hope it backfires big time on them.

Agreed. Sheryl and her daughter are as bad as each other whilst Regan is too young to know better and is just the mouth piece for his mother.

Mason wanted to genuinely go to Portugal and beg his dad to get better and suddenly his mother and sister want to go with the TV Crew and therapist all dolled up to the nines, knocking on his bedroom door whilst they are fucking miked up!!! :( It was like the fucking cook report.

That whole scene with Sheryl and the therpist was for the benefit of the cameras too.

It also struck me as strange that Regan was so unlike his dad. If you didnt know you would swear that mason was his biological kid rather than Regan

Agree with all of that. As for the younging, I thought he was a ringer for that Mark Durden Smith? The prick who does I'm a celeb 2.

I think Sheryl has some explaining to do.

As an aside, why do charvas give their kids surnames as first names?

There's an excellent chapter in Stephen Levitt's Freakonomics on that very question.

It's a Protestant thing in Scotland and Norn Iron too I believe.

i do feel sorry for gazza but he's obviously a pretty horrible person as well as being distrubed and an alcoholic.

i feel more sorry for his kids for the way he's fucked up their lives and even his wife - even if she is a money grabber.

His kids aye. His wife though? She's still making money out of him even now. When he hit the papers last time round when he was sectioned she was in the tabloids within a few days going on about how she wanted to help him etc. iirc. Wanted to make some money more like.

if i was her and had an alcoholic wife beater for a husband, i'd probably look to bleed a little cash out of him as well. people are quick to have a go at his missus but you have to look at what he's put her through too.

i loved gazza when i was a lad. best footballer of our generation and funny as fcuk off the field.

but despite the fact the man has got serious problems, it's hard to justify him beating up his missus, walking out on his kids, generally treating his family like shit and doing whatever he wants to do then hitting them with the emotional blackmail so they don't let go.

certainly on last night's evidence it did seem that she was prepared to let him back into the family home but he walked out on them all and got straight back on the bottle because she wouldn't give him his oats.

of all of them, i'd say the young kid regan probably spoke the most sense when it came to how to deal with gazza.

what i've said probably won't be popular with a lot of people who still view gazza as a legend. i think he's probably beyond help now and his family might be right to try and get on with their own lives.

Yeah, I noticed the £500k house, the Range Rover Sport and the 5 flights to Portugal at the drop of a hat.

She reminds me of Sharon Stone in Casino with her crocodile tears as i said in my OP she's a leech who worships one god and it begins with M.

Watched this today on sky+, nothing we didnt know already about Gazza. Feel sorry for the man but if he's not prepared to accept help, there's not a lot peole can do for him.

Did show his ex-wife up as a money grabbing targe tho, no call for her to do this programme at all.

On a lighter note, would definately recommend that area of Portugal to anyone. Stayed in Vilamoura a few times, well worth a visit, especially if you play golf.

tbf she admitted herself that he did all that long before she married him but she still went ahead with it under the mis-aprehesion that he'd change.

The £ signs were a bit too appealing if you ask me - what's more, they still are!

Gazza 'headbutted a bouncer' at snooker club

Former footballer Paul Gascoigne allegedly headbutted a bouncer after he was thrown out of a Newcastle snooker club.

Officers were called to the incident but Northumbria Police said no further action would be taken after the alleged victim did not make a complaint.

According to a newspaper report, doorman Paul Hindle was assaulted by the former England midfielder at the Spot White snooker club in Newcastle city centre earlier this month.

The bust-up is said to have happened after Gascoigne, 42, was asked not to smoke in the snooker hall.

However, the former Newcastle footballer was accused of lighting up in the toilets and was asked to leave the club.

Mr Hindle, 30, a former soldier, told The Sun: 'That was when they started getting aggressive. I could tell it was about to get violent, and Gazza just launched himself at me.

'I was shocked. Some people might have hit back but I didn't because Gazza is so scrawny now and I thought I'd end up hurting him.'

Moments later, as Gascoigne left the snooker club, he went to shake Mr Hindle's hand, then pulled him close and kissed him on the cheek, the doorman added.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: 'At 12.28am on Friday, October 9, Northumbria Police received a report of a verbal altercation at a premises on Stowell Street, Newcastle.

'When police arrived, no complaints were made and no crime had been committed.'

No one at the snooker club was available for comment.
