Concern over missing 82-year-old

Nellie Knowles has been missing since Monday evening

A major search has been launched for an 82-year-old woman, missing from her Aberdeenshire home.

Police were becoming "increasingly worried" for Nellie Knowles, who has been missing from her home in Inverurie since about 2300 BST on Monday.

Extensive land and air searches were being carried out.

Mrs Knowles was described as being 5ft 4in tall, of medium build, with short grey curly hair, and was believed to have been wearing a floral nightdress.

'Increasingly worried'

The alarm was raised when the pensioner's husband discovered she was missing from their home in Inverurie's Middlemuir Road.

About 25 police officers with specially trained search dogs were scouring the area.

A helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth was also drafted in.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: "We are getting increasingly worried about Nellie. Leaving her home through the night is completely out of character for her.

"We have organised extensive searches in the vicinity of her home, and throughout the Inverurie area.

"I would appeal to anyone who lives or works in Inverurie to check around their buildings, their gardens and any out-buildings, in case Nellie may be lying ill or injured."

Good to hear. :nufc: If it's the beginnings of a dementia issue though, it'll only be the beginning. :nufc:
