With a squad as strong as ours we'll still storm the league without anyone anyway.

I propose a terracotta army of players, interspersed with the last remaining has beens and youngsters who aren't injured/couldn't be sold, Xisco will continue in his role as an unused substitute.

Fitness Front: Shola And Jonas Update

By Paul Tully

SHOLA Ameobi and Jonas Gutierrez face lengthy spells on the sidelines through injury.

Argentinian international Jonas will be out for three weeks with a hamstring pull, while five-goal Ameobi has a "stress problem" to the bone of his foot and will be out even longer.

United boss Chris Hughton said: "Jonas has a hamstring and will be out three weeks, while Shola will be out longer than that.

"He has a stress problem to the bone and we will know in the next two days how long he will be out."

Hughton admitted the loss of Jonas and Ameobi was a big blow, but delivered better news when he revealed that striker Andy Carroll (groin) will be fit in time for the trip to Cardiff on September 13th.

Skipper Nicky Butt may also be fit again after an ankle injury.

In the absence of the strikers, 18-year-old Nile Ranger has played as solo striker against Huddersfield and Leicester and Hughton said: "It's been quite a tough start for him.

"What he has learned in this very short period of time is that h will be up against hardened Championship centre-halves. He has been able to do that, and the longer he does that, the more experience he gets."

Given that we scraped by a newly promoted league one outfit, I as you this accaspacca.

What do you say now?

lost our first choice (and only) striker, who looked like he found his level and we've lost Jonas our one truly attacking midfielder for injuries at a crucial time.

unless we get new players to cover, it's safe to say games we'd feel comfortable in our confidence, now don't look so assured.
