Seeming assumed cult status for wearing the 'Pavel is a Geordie' t-shirt when we wer handed the 1st Division trophy and then couldn't put a foot wrong. In reality he was fucking hopeless. Both Batty and Asprilla get used as scapegoats for what happened that season but the difference is, Batty was actually good, Asprilla had very few good games for us, Batty was steady in almost every one he played. He played really well against Man Utd as well I thought, especially in the 2nd half when heads went down after they scored.
