It's a brilliant time for english beer. John Smiths is summat you might drink at home at a push if you've only got the local off licence at your disposal. I'd say a bigger tolerance at 22 than 32 never mind 57. Seriously these days 10-12 pints of 5% lager or Guinness and I'm absolutely fucked. I'm the same now as when I was at 22 Stevie, I have the same limit and I know when I've had enough and just quietly get my head down. I actually got into beers and ales when I lived in jockland in the 80's and had the "heavys" up there, down south before that most of the beer was cats piss apart from the real ale pubs. I'm generally ok on lager, it's when I climb aboard the sambuca train or start buying rounds of jagerbombs that I start to suffer. NJS 4052 Posted January 3, 2011 Share Posted January 3, 2011 I've never been able to drink lager (can stomach a few if forced to abroad) and started off drink ales including Smiths along with Exhibition and Dog but I migrated to cider as I travelled more around the country and found that was the only way to ensure consistency.
