New Phone

That day I was looking the Google store price went back up to £999 from £699. They’ve all come back down in price but porcelain is sold out everywhere…am on lots of lists for when they come back into stock…carphone whorehouse says June 19. I think they’ll stay discounted, pixel 10 comes out around Aug 25

ps the best trade in for my iPhone 13 Pro is definitely with the Google store ie £300. John Lewis thing looks misleading to me as it’s valued my phone at just over £200, not an extra £200 (as far as I can make out)

The £200 is on top of the trade in value.

Odd thing happened when I tried to trade in my phone with music magpie. I know they're robbing bastards but they were offering market value of £200 for my S22+. It's been perfect for 3 years, packed it up in the original box surrounded by bubble wrap, and they replied saying they were only offering £38 as the panel was broken.

Pissed off and suspecting they had broken the phone, I asked for it back. Posted back this morning with an arrow pointing to the "fault" and fucked if I can see anything wrong? Got a magnifying glass out, no dead pixels or anything? Do they have some equipment I don't know about or are they just taking the piss?

They're probably just taking the piss.

I used Mazuma mobile to sell my last phone. They tried to knock £175 off the price because apparently there was dust in the camera module and the whole thing needed replaced. Absolute piss takers.

There's some bad reviews of the Google trade in service too. People being told their phone is damaged, getting it back and there is no damage.

I've used it twice now though with no hassle - as-promised trade in price honoured both times.

It probably just depends if you get the workplace arsehole checking your device.

Had two codes, one for the 9 Pro and one for the 9. Just used the second one to get my lass a new phone - £274 for a new Pixel 9 after discount and trade-in.

BTW the Samsungs... We're trading it in early because they have a known fault where, because of the waterproofing, they can develop a difference between the internal pressure of the phone and the atmospheric pressure. When it happens it affects the phones speakers. Sound goes completely to shit - videos are unwatchable and it can affect phone call audio too.

Obviously doesn't happen on all of them, but it's a known fault for which the only fix is to pop open the SIM card door to equalise the pressure. But even that's only temporary.

Mine went back to who was providing my next contract. They offered considerably more for trade in than any dedicated site and it was quibble-free. Probably on account it generated future business with them but it ends up me getting it cheaper, I'm not going to complain.

I would have normally done this with Samsung but because I got a large blue light discount I suspect they reduced the trade in. Also how does it work in practice, when do you exchange the phone? Presumably after you've transferred all your data? Seems quite a lot of trust from the company if so, or do they refund you after (in which case the trust is on you).

They issued the new device along with packing for the device I was returning. On receipt of the device they activated the trade-in agreement. So basically I was contracted to pay the full amount until they got it in their hands - gave me time to transfer my data, wipe the phone and send it back. Had a no-quibble cooling off period as well just in case they didn't agree with the valuation. Pretty seamless process tbh.
