BTW someone pointed out to me this morning that we've now been undone on two occasions by quick-fire twin strikes by a PL-reject striker whose name has been linked with us in the past.

I think calling Aubameyang a PL reject is a little harsh like

I mean in the sense Arsenal dispensed with him. Same with Rashford at Man United.

'Aye gaffer, I get you, but, laaaaaaaaaaaaaa, you're playing me up front in a game where we have a German Strike on the bench like'

IMO He should have started Wolte and just left Gordon on the bench.  We were crying out for a striker and Eddie brings him on in the 70th minute.

We need rotation for definite.  But Gordon has shown he cannot play there.  It's like bringing in a CB at LB.  Or w RW to play RWB.  Square pegs, round holes.   Eddie needs to stop doing it.

Again though, Howe isn't picking Gordon cos he thinks he is suddenly going to become a striker. He's doing it out of necessity because he's been told by the medical staff that Woltemade needs a break.

It's square pegs in round holes because we've only got one round peg and it's on the verge of breaking. It's absurd to think otherwise. Playing Gordon up front makes us worse. Howe isn't doing that willingly.

I don't think for one moment he's doing it willingly, but I think he's overlooking the fact there are alternative options who, in many people's opinions, would be better.

How many times are we going to play Gordon there before Howe accepts it doesn't work?

Am just a thick match payer, but surely Barnes would be a better option? Just swap them.

This for me like, Barnes is the best natural finisher we have so playing him through the middle seems the least worst option.

They've worked with Gordon at the start of the season though haven't they? It's far from perfect, but he's the one that, in theory at least, knows the striker playbook.

So who plays up front then?

If its Gordon then people need to lay off him because it's not his natural position.  No?

He needs to try something else because its not fucking working playing Gordon there.

Also, this is the same medical team that allowed Eddie to keep flogging Trips and Burn?  That medical team?

I get the point you're making, but he's a busted flush for me. I haven't seen any evidence of him being effective in that role. How long do they realistically give it before they agree?

I also doubt it's doing his confidence any favours as well given the crowd are getting restless.

about the only conclusion I can come to now as to why you wouldn't at least start with woltemade is they know full well we won't be seeing owt of wissa until well in to the new year.

You can't have it both ways. You were raging when Botman played two 90minutes back to back after coming back from injury, now you want Woltemade flogging.

WHICH IS IT?!

Barnes is lightweight as a winger let alone as a central striker and Elanga has fuck all confidence playing in his preferred role so Gordon is a more logical option. Albeit less than ideal and not in good form himself.

I think he's a busted flush on the left wing too. I think it sends the wrong message to Barnes, who is putting in a proper shift and is our form player in his rightful position, if we put Gordon straight back in at left wing and move Barnes out of position.

Woltemade needing a rest isn’t dependent on that.

Downie has been the one saying from the start that Wissa would be out longer than we are being told, and I think it was him said in a recent video he still doesn't think we'll see him til late December.

Isn't there some AFCON ruling that if he's fit to play and doesn't go to the tournament, he can't play for his club?

It is simply time for Joelinton to become a striker again

I think he could do that job in Europe and would’ve been a better bet last night. Not exactly in great form himself though
