Boumsong to go back to Rangers?

Rangers are plotting to take Newcastle flop Jean-Alain Boumsong back to Glasgow.

Paul Le Guen - who takes over as Ibrox boss at the end of the season - is a long-time friend and a big admirer of Boumsong.

And we understand Le Guen told his fellow Frenchman he was keen to offer him a return to Scotland when they met at a promotional event in Paris last month.

But while Boumsong would jump at the move, Rangers would be willing to pay less than £3 million of the £8.5 million they made from selling him to United just 15 months ago.

Le Guen has also spoken to current Gers boss Alex McLeish about the impact made by Boumsong at Ibrox following his arrival from Auxerre in the summer of 2004.

And although he has other defensive targets in mind, Le Guen knows they, unlike Boumsong, would demand to play Champions League football next season - something Rangers may not be able to provide.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are planning to rescue Albert Luque from his Newcastle hell this summer - if they can offload a flop of their own.

Luque is tipped to be on his way to the Spanish capital as a replacement for Bulgarian striker Martin Petrov who has scored just one goal in 30 appearances since arriving from German club Wolfsburg last summer.

If he was return i hope that the loss would not be that big. We are probably paying for him in installments and what is left to be paid would be written off plus we would hopefully get back some of what we have paid.

That is similar to what happened when Ferguson returned to Rangers from Blackburn Rovers.

This is one time I really dont mind the club going short on a deal.

he is a liability and while in the side we are going nowhere he has cost us so many goals this yr its untrue. he cant read the game does not talk enough on the pitch and gets the wrong side of his man so much he has to revert to clown like tactics.

I will laugh but only for the fact that Rangers have him in their ranks.

May be that will see him at his level of football and he may shine there again but the rangers fan Iknow could not wait to see the back of him last time round.

No way sell Boum for £3m back to Rangers! We'd be the biggest mugs ever!

He could have a great World cup yet which will help his value, so deffo wait till after that unless we get a great offer in before then.

I haven't given up on Boum completely yet, he could still come good imo once he sorts his head out imo

Luque i'd take £6-7+m for right now though, it very plain to see he's just not suited to the Premiership and its better for all parties he goes back to spain.

We're going to lose a huge amount on Boumsong whatever happens.

It's turned into a nightmare deal, bad for the supporters, and the man himself who seems like a decent bloke.

Very Newcastle United for it to work out like this.

As soon as he starts doing well back at Rangers it will PROVE that he is actually class and just needed some decent coaching and won't be any reflection on the difference in quality between the English and Scottish Premier Leagues :D
