Stephane Guivarc'h FWD Auxerre £3,500,000

Surely the very worst striker we had in that period. Did he score a goal for us? I think I remember him failing to score in the WC 98 - quite some acivement given that he was the sole  striker  in the French squad.

I believe he had one shot on goal in the whole tournament.

Started twice, came off the bench twice, scored once. Not too bad. Imagine how good he would've been once he settled into the English game... ;)

The style of the team changed overnight when Dalgleish joined. Out went the adventurous attacking style of Keegan and in came sideways European stlye football.

I used to always comment on how, rather than hitting a team on the break - a Dalgleish team would always let the opposition get back into their defending positions before we would attack them.

Unfortunately, with the exception of Bellamy - we haven't really seen much dynamic attacking football since!

Oh, I don't know, I think Robert was pretty attacking. ;)
