Probably because I'm hungover and dont really know where I am, what the fucks that crack with your second last post?

This one's a quite from a Boro fan thinking Boro are now top class because they got beaten senseless in the UEFA Cup Final and won the Carling cup in the last hundred years (there's a link in there to the full discusison, which is about something else entirely):

Small point in reference to the 'second rate soccer teams' comment.

888.com currently sponsor Middlesbrough FC, last years UEFA Cup finalists, 2004 Carling Cup Winners and the club who recently gave England their new manager.

Were not second rate!

Matt.

(Boro fan )

Jesus Wept!

lol delusionments.

And this one's a question about why you're playing less, when you had been taking it pretty seriously:

He's an ape, I doubt I could tbh.

Shouldn't you be playing poker or something?

I'm on my lunch break, back to it now.

I don't play much now, don't have the time.

What's up with that, I thought you wanted to be a professional?

  • 3 weeks later...

Looking to pick myself up some new poker books this week. No Limit - Theory and Practice, Sklansky and Caro's Book of Tells looking likely. Anyone got any thoughts on those, or other recommendations?

I'm like a kid at Christmas, waiting for Bill Chen's new book (how sad is that?!), so if anyone knows where I can get a copy quickly, one grandmother going cheap.

Oh, and can anyone tell me if there's any point getting the original Super System if I've read Super System 2?

Do you play live now? As Caro's book of tells is about reading people from their movements and expressions.

Haven't got a clue about supersystem, I think its pretty much the same, just alot more updated, so the one you have is probably better.

I haven't played for about a month, just don't have the motivation to play anymore, always got something more interesting to do. I'll probably get back into it once I get a job.

Can you not hear breathing over the interweb, like?

I haven't started yet, I fear once I do we'll have to move closer to Marseille (though there are smaller casinos closer), so I'm not rushing into it.

I don't know how you're going without, I'm absolutely obsessed at this point, and it's taking the piss how little I really understand the game at the moment.

Take a break, its by far better than constant playing, I took a break, for 2 weeks, then won $700 from $10, perfected my game, then my ego increased and I lost $1000. Don't get complacent, and don't get cocky.

You need to be really disciplined to play this game, and thats why I dont play as much now, as I'm a bit of a cocky bastard, and think I'm the best at it.

Got the Phil Gordon boxed set which is good. I really like his Little Green Book - there's a bit more in the written version than there is on the CD.

What's this Bill Chen business? I still think that the Harrington series and Ed Miller book are the best ones I've read.

Those just aren't issues for me. I do take a few days off here and there, that's healthy, but I'm definitely not over playing, compared to the norm. You're right, though, those breaks can really improve your game (true of pretty much anything).

Gemmill - Bill Chen's Mathematics of Poker is Maths heavy, but I'd imagine more of a problem for me than for you, but may be the most important poker book released to date. It's gone to print, but probably won't be in stock anywhere until the end of the month.

Ah right, had a look on Amazon but there wasn't much on there about it. Might get it a bit later on when the rush has died off.

Ladbrokes. Weakest players on the net.

I might have to give that a look. A Texas hold 'em player walking into an Omaha game and dominating is either extremely lucky, a poker genius or playing against serious donks. Not that I'd like to make any assumptions, like.

Was it Pot limit?

Pot limit is just the same as no limit but the maximum you can raise is the amount in the pot already.

Omaha is straight forward. Same as Texas Holdem, but you have to use two of your hole Cards. So if the board shows AAAKK and you have KQJJ your best hand would be AAAJJ as you have to use 2 hole cards. I'm tired as fuck and took me ages to type this.

Really?

Aye fucking ages. What makes it obvious like, looks like the perfect post to me.

I just liked the random tutoring on basic poker concepts tbh. :(

Just looking back at my post, did you think I said "What is pot limit?", as opposed to "Was it pot limit?"?

I love Omaha, still really only play Hold 'em for cash, though.
